We weren't able to form a government for over a year, and then our prime minister (Yves Leterme) had to resign because of a scandal. I am Greek and while I am interested in politics I don't believe in left or right wing, cause they are the same. I admire Farage since he stood for my country but a friend of mine told me that he is not to be trusted, because he is rightwing eurosceptic and against immigrants. Is that true?

@tzoyia1 Surely the ones who can't be trusted are those who impose the eu and its rule on people?. Because he wants the UK to leave the eu, does that mean he can't be trusted?. He wants to block migration to the UK for a set period, no matter where the migrants are from. The reason being that nobody knows how many have entered from Europe under the last 2 British Govts. He wants to know how many people are actually here. Being against uncapped immigration does not make someone racist.

People in the UK are now being forced to work for free! If Greece was a rich country and British were coming there to take your money and your jobs you'd be against immigration too!

By the way there are many immigrants, illegal or not, in Greece as well, from Poland, Albania, Nigeria and as you said, Greece is not a rich country.

im belgian too. but in my opinion he is a good president and why: he speaks the most ilportant languages of the EU: french, german and english. and you know as well as i do that europe just as belgium needs a good negotiator/mediator and that's what he is. I can't see any of the leaders of the bigger countries(merkel, sarcosy,...) of europe leading europe because they miss these essential things. besides van rompuy is a neutral character which is important as first president

@anil2344 Actually Van Rompuy became Belgian prime minister after a very chaotic period. We weren't able to form a government for over a year, and then our prime minister (Yves Leterme) had to resign because of a scandal. After that Van Rompuy became prime minister because the political leaders were convinced they needed a prime minister that could bring consensus and stability.
Belgium didn't have a government for almost 2 years, you think that's possible when parties are 'neutral'?

@TheDogonebad: I'm not saying that the majority of N-Ireland wishes to leave the UK, but surpressing the minority as your government did a few years ago, isn't democratic, is it? You don't even know HVR, he kept Belgium running during the political crisis in 2007 'till 2009. He has more experience than Cameron or Farage for that matter. If you want to leave, leave. But when Europe gets out of this crisis, I'll bet you that the UK will beg to be a member again.

@MatthijsCOB Over the past few years successive UK Govts have been surpressing the majority here by denying us a referendum on the eu. This isn't democratic but the eu and its supporters seem only to be interested in democracy when it suits their needs. If the eu were truly democratic it would be asking why the people weren't being given an option. This crisis is only going to end with the collapse of the Euro. Europes problems are only going to be resolved via reversion to the EEC
