I've always felt like Chesney wanted to sing this song in a key that Dave was comfortable with. Watch how hard it is for him to hit certain notes. Dave walks out and does fine. Hats off to the both of them though. Such a pretty little song with beautiful lyrics too.

actually, they cut instrumental part and just let dave sing. if u look again, when dave starts singing, kenny was singing with him around 1:49 or 1:50.. and yes, both of them were pretty nervous.. heheh..

@009paulwall009 They actually met in 2005 at FarmAid, a concert Willie Nelson puts on for farmers and stuff which he does once a year. The two met there. Kenney had actually showed him that song in 2005 but didn't get done till recently. But they occasionally guest at each other's shows and Kenny even covered "Where are you Going" once to show love fore Leroi Moore when he passed on. But yeah the are pretty tight now. FarmAid is always awesome by the way, check it out.

i have two thoughts on why dave sang when he did... maybe three. either #1: it is the music awards and all songs must remain under or around 2 and half minutes. #2: dave always says how he gets nervous on stage so he prolly just wasnt thinking and did the only thing he knows how to. or #3: dave was high as a kite and was just goin with the flow on this one. he was only attending to do this 2.5 minute bit. what'd you expect?

I love this song!! Love Dave and Kenny.. they do a great job! Ive met them both before and kenny numerous times.. Great guys.. now, having said that... did anybody else notice that Dave Sang at the wrong time?? ha ha.. oops.. and kenny and the band had to compensate.. almost looks like Kenny Got Pissed at the end! I know Dave Noticed.. Just watch him as soon as he finishes singing.. lol. Still sounded great though and hardly anybody noticed.. ;)

This proves to people just how good Daves voice is, he can dial down the antics of a DMB style concert and just have good pure vocals. What was gay about this performance was that Dave wasnt playing guiatar also. Dave Matthews is a better guitar player than Kenny Chesney and could have added some lead guitar parts while Chesney played the chords. Other than that it was a nice performance.
