I agree completely. The greek Tamerlano, with unknown singers (I only know Nesi) is a HIT, by far the best Tamerlano ever recorded, even if Bonitatibus sings this very pretty. I'm very curious about Petrou's Giulio Cesare, supposed to appear shortly. ¿Will it be another winner-one?
@elias12186 The greek Tamerlano (recorded in 2006) has the following cast: Tamerlano - George Friedrich Haendel George Petrou (2006) Tamerlano Nicholas Spanos Bajazet Tassis Christoyannis Asteria Mata Katsuli Andronico Mary-Ellen Nesi Irene Irini Karaianni Leone Petros Magoulas Orquesta: Orchestra of Patras Grabado en estudio MDG FANTASTIC, look for it
@thebarroque In fact we have some well-known names, and the majority of the greek singers also appear on the Tamerlano. After having heard Romina Basso doing the whole role of Cesare live I am really curious of what she can do as Tolomeo. On the contrary, Harmmarström and (especially) Galli give me doubts. Do you think they are adequate for the parts? Is the recording already out?
I think that Cesare can be a little too low for Harmmarström, but I'm really curious about Galli's Cleopatra, the recording will be released soon, it was recorded on summer of this year.
Yup! just what I wanted to say, so I'll just say "I agree". And to quote Elias, "the music isn't to bad either" actually the music is better than "isn't too bad" It's really nice.
Meravigliosa, che musicalità signori :)

Check the greek Tamerlano guys. It's a world of difference. This is childish comparing to that recording. I think, that is the best Tamerlano.

Curiously, it was this summer when I heard Basso as Cesare (replacing Connolly) with Invernizzi as Cleopatra (replacing De Niesse)
asisecanta 2 years ago
Thanks God Invernizzi replace De Niese!, the worst soprano on earth replaced by the best soprano on earth ;-), What a Change!

Ineed. And Basso's Cesare was SPECTACULARLY SENSUAL.

This is truly georgous. Anna Bonitatibus is fast becoming my favorite among the current mezzos.

Let it load! Sometimes youtube is slower than other times.

Yes I'll try again in the morning when the Americans are asleep. It tends to work better then, I noticed that.

I liked it, I thought for Handel it was a little anti-climactic, also the line she says is "se l'agita il timor".
