  • finally a flash mob thats not anoying

  • LOVE THIS

  • You should have seen the Male Opera Singers we had in "Carmen" sooo yummy!

  • OMG, Male opera singers are so &^%$# sexy. The crowd really starts jumpin' when Texas Tech guy walks in.... Love this video - everyone there is smiling and enjoying it. Thank you Knight Foundation!

  • While it is very well sung... their French sucks massively... xD

  • @SteinbrecherBack You mean the French suck massively?

  • @BellamoraTV To quote John Oliver: "Hey, French, I know you built the Arc but we're still waiting for the TRIOMPHE, BOOOOOOOM!" ;)

  • @SteinbrecherBack lol. :D

  • I am amazed at the number of people who bring cameras to the market to go shopping. (And yes, I can recognize the difference between a camera and a cell phone.)

  • @Grisbi6 They do this stuff at alot of place that have tourists

  • We are Geelong, the greatest team of all, we are Geelong, we're always on the ball...

  • OCP is great! I would love to have been there. Only complaint is you don't see the female voices?

  • Must...stop...watching...opera flash mobs...on youtube....and go back to work.

  • Bravi a tutti! :oD

  • This is my favorite of the "random acts of culture" so far. Bravo!

Notice how most of the older people in the crowd immediately recognize the song, but everyone else are just clueless about it.

  • the guy starts it always get "pwned" by the crowd at first. However the crowd gets pwned at the end

  • God dammit why don't *I* live in an opera?!

  • I gotta move to Philadelphia!!!!!!!!!!!! Love this company already!!!!!!!!

  • @shadamaron I'm IN Philly already since i was born man...lol

  • The Amish crack me up...lol

  • Nice job!

  • Kudos to the Opera Company of Philadelphia for doing it! Our tv and radio refuse to broadcast opera, so they take the things into their hands. Fantastic!

  • WOW This is what keeps the world turning.

  • The "black" guy (I don't want to call him African American because I am not sure if he is American lol) looks just like a typical shopper at the Reading Terminal Market. This performance is fantastic but now I have it stuck in my head which is bad because I only know three words "Toreador en garde."

  • Absolutely stunning! One of the best things ever to happen in a Mall in years. Especially liked the audience reactions. Quality performances by Philly voices. Bravo & Brava!

  • Norman Garrett - Wreck 'em Tech. :guns:

  • Ok random acts of culture is fun for everyone. Lmao the Texas Tech dude is great

  • I love the people's reaction to the Texas Tech Guy starting his part. They're like, "Oh shit, nigga can sing opera!"

  • Perfecto Magnifico Execelente Increible

  • this is ridiculous....and AWESOME

  • Vive Escamillo! Bravo!

  • Toreador engarde~ Toreador toreador!

  • New singing group: the Three Baritones! Haha! :)

  • my brother's opinion not mine (i swear so don't hate me) he says " I can sing them into the ground." he's a professional opera singer nd he's a diva. but i loved it those guys were so good!!!

  • While Texas Tech guy was walking in, I thought, "What is he thinking, just barging through on his phone and ignoring this?!" And then he opened his mouth and started singing. :) Tutti bravi!

  • Hot Damn! Men singing opera sound, so, so, well, MANLY!!!!!!!

  • I have a love hate relationship with Carmen - I have seen some really bad ones and some striking ones and it is not to do with the singing but the staging - I hate it when they stand and sing in trad costumes and don't think about what is actually happening and it is about some of the poorer people in society - the last Bielefeld production was good as it was in a 1930s factory - and the singers, as always, acted as well.

I also think Carmen should be called Don José as he changes and develops.

  • GAAHHH!! MY OLD VOICE TEACHER'S IN THIS!!!!!!!

  • GAAAHH!! mY OLD VOICE TEACHER'S IN THIS!!!!!

  • Outstanding!!

  • Fab!! Love the TX Tech guy, who I thought was a high school basketball player!

  • NORM! You and your phone!!!! num num.

  • So very cool. I got to get out more, I would have loved to been there.

    Florence

  • This is absolutely sensastional. Well done guys/girls.

  • Super klasse!

  • delizioso!!!!!

    molte grazie!!!

  • I'm really glad that The OCP did this. They're doing a great deal for communal, and national awareness of opera and its beauty. Keep up the great work guys! I hope that you do this again some day, and hope that more companies around the country will follow in your footsteps!

  • Thank you Opera Company of Philadelphia!!!!

    From Portland, Oregon!!

  • if you think their performance is terrific culture, don't miss the incredible cultural food selections available at Philadelphia's Raading Terminal Market - WOW!

  • Awesome Norman!!

  • YES i love this stuff I really never thought i would like opera but these flash mobs are awesome.

  • My buddy Norman Garrett not only has a great voice, he also has a 40" vertical leap! Congratulations and bravissimo!

  • Comment removed

  • @raidermusicdoc

    I heard he had a 45" vertical.

I saw him hit his head on the rim while he was at Texas Tech...crazy to see

  • OCP for the win. :D

  • Opera IS COOL

  • Brilliant! And then some

  • Brilliant!

  • BRAVO to OCP!!!!!!!

  • I'm loving people's shocked faces?!! I think the Texas Tech dude tops the cake!!! wonderful!!!

  • The best I seen on is a must see youtube and this is it >> Sound of Music | Central Station Antwerp (Belgium)

  • USSR ??

  • yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • YES, you can see me taping at 1:17 and at 1:29 when the third guy joins in!

  • Very cool! And around the 2:35 mark is a non-singing cameo of Andrew Foster-Williams enjoying the perfomance (baritone soloist who performed masterfully in Mozart's Requiem this weekend).

  • OCP, you make all of Philadelphia and singers everywhere proud. You're doing exactly what opera needs: the removal of the stuffy stigma it's carried around all these years and a chance for people to see that it is, in fact, one hell of a show. Bravi to these singers and to the entire company for its vision!

  • The people at 2:30 are adorable!! Also the older man who appears to be whistling along. Love it!

  • AWESOME!

  • Love Texas Tech guy striding up on his cell phone.

  • @EvolveStrategies thats my cousin!!

  • Awesome. They make opera look cool.

  • @bg215pa opera is cool. you don't need special people to show you that it is. it goes without saying.

  • @bg215pa

    Opera is cool...

  • @bg215pa Opera is cool :D .

  • @bg215pa opera is cool XD

  • @bg215pa Opera is way cooler than rap, that's all I've gotta say.

  • Bravo!

  • Thumbs up for one of the singers wearing a Texas Tech shirt! Yeah!

  • Great music and a good looking crowd. A real treat.

  • chills and goosebumps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    all over my arms

    inspiring spirit right here.

  • FUN-tastic. That's right. I said it.
