Throughout scripture he tells us that he worked with his OWN hands, providing the needs for both him AND his fellow travelers, he was beaten to deformity, and even said that he was homeless. @RUABerean Jakes dug ditches to support his family. Built a ministry "with his hands" in West Virginia and when he moved to Dallas 1500 people joined his church in one day. Took money he and his wife were saving to buy a house and used it to publish a book. The book was called Woman Thou Art Loosed. Said he did that out of fear and not faith. The fear was because if it did not work our his wife would worn him out. Oh, I think this brother has paid a tremendous price for his blessings. Have you?

@RUABerean Actually my friend I am not wrapped up in either the prosperity or poverty of my Christian brethren. I try to be wrapped up in truth, the truth of the gospel. I don't follow a prosperity preacher neither one who has taken a vow of poverty. I choose to follow the Lord Jesus Christ who purchased our salvation with his own blood (Acts 20:28).

@RUABerean What I was saying was that Paul did not live with 2k years of Christian history professing to know God as Father and Jesus as Lord only to oppress a people because of their skin color. I thought you would understand that God raising up men and women to prosper from a people who had been historically discriminated against would strike a chord. What limits Jakes, or any other prosperity teacher from being men/women of God is one thing and one thing only, is their preaching supported by scripture, or is it the ear tingling, emotion-stirring noise that MOST people want to hear? Do they sell to people what is supposed to be FREELY given? People talk about all the "souls" that they "save", and how many people fill their churches, but we don't examine their message, we don't test their spirits to SEE if what they say are truly of God

But there SHOULD be no comparison. Athletes get paid by predominately SECULAR owners, who INVEST in said athletes, and get a financial return in the form of revenue from ticket sales. Entertainers are paid what they are worth to those who buy tickets to their movies or night club acts....
...but preachers are not to exploit God's people, or ANYBODY for that matter, for money(1 Tim 3:3,8;Titus 1:7,11; 1 Peter 5:2). The gospel is NOT entertainment, and the gospel is NOT a sporting event that people can chose to attend by buying tickets, merchandise, etc. Jesus told the disciples, "FREELY you have received, FREELY give." So as much as prosperity preachers want their sheep to believe this, a man/woman has NO mandate to prosper off of the gospel by fleecing their congregations

In their culture woman had no rights, they were reduced to doing chores and etc., but now that Christians have evolved and expanded to different cultures, such rules have become obsolete. Took money he and his wife were saving to buy a house and used it to publish a book. The book was called Woman Thou Art Loosed. Said he did that out of fear and not faith. In their culture woman had no rights, they were reduced to doing chores and etc., but now that Christians have evolved and expanded to different cultures, such rules have become obsolete.
