hi, it's not on pulveriser but I can't find an appropriate section for this - I have a vocal I wish to use in a track - how can I match it to the tempo and can I key shift it when I find the right tempo? I can do the whole estimating tempo with the metronome on, disabling stretch/bouncing/re-enabling stretch thing, but with v6 is there a quicker more accurate way to do this - I also sometimes drag and drop the audio into an external BPM finder first, but can I do all this quickly in v6? thanks
@aroflex11 I'm not sure I fully understand your question but in Reason 6 you nolonger need to disable/bounce/stretch/etc. You just scissor your audio clip to a known length and then hold down option (alt on windows) and click the right handle of the region to stretch it to any length you want. So if you clip out what you know is a 4 bar audio clip and then stretch it out to four bars long, it'll be the right tempo.
@PropellerheadSW yep, thank you! That answers my question :) About the key shifting though, will it automatically keep correct pitch or will I end up with 'chipmonk' effect - I can't experiment a the moment as I regularly work away from home and therefore away from my workstation! Thanks
@aroflex11 If you timestretch it will keep the correct pitch. No chipmunk effect. In fact if you haven't heard the timestretch algorithm in Reason, it's AWESOME! Very artifact free and natural.
@PropellerheadSW Thank you - really appreciate the answers. I only got the v6 upgrade just before I had to come away to work again in a galaxy far far away (from my Reason worksation:( ) So I'll be putting this into practice in a few days. Again, thanks!
Is it possible to automate the transpose section? Or how would I go about making it sound like the end of my track is being chewed up on an old cassette tape?
okay can somebody help me. i want to change the rate of the tremolo while recording. i am using the effect on an octo rex drum loop and i want the changes i make with the tremor rate to be recorded. i know you can record things like modulation and pitch changes, but how do i do this with the rate.
@thenewrevolution100 Nope. That's the beauty of Reason 6. Record is going away. Everything is now inside Reason. No two programs. No wondering which program gives you what devices. It's all under one roof... and a very powerful creative roof I must add. :)
@theoneandonlyhut While the Pulveriser is much more than just the Tremor, even that is slightly new. It goes to extremely high rates - allowing audio rate modulation with a variety of different curves. The spread is also new. Additionally, as the video stated, the compression and distortion are completely new algorithms too.
@illDiology Reason has been able to take audio inputs since version 5, and it has Line 6 amp simulations, so guitars sound great through it. With 6 you get the SSL 9000 mixer, which is a huge step up from the Mackie 14:2. You will be able to pulverise your guitar with total impunity! I really want to hear how it handles that volume-dependent tremolo rate on my guitar!
I bought reason and record about a week before reason 6 was announced. Do i get any discounts? And i laughed at the envelope follower description no. 2
@SH0R0N0 The grace period offer for people who bought the Duo started July 1st so if you bought your product at July 1st or later you'll get a free upgrade to Reason 6.
There are already two compressors (Comp 01 and MClass) in Reason and also a dirt machine (Scream 4). So is this just another way of the company trying to keep people spending money or what?
@OneFifthNative We tried to point this out in the video, but maybe it wasn't super clear - the Pulveriser has entirely new algorithms for compression and distortion and can sound drastically different from any compressor/distortion found in the current versions of Reason. I've actually seen a lot of people asking for a new, more drastic compressor in Reason but if you're not a fan, that's cool.
@AnosouMattias No, it wasn't clear as you never mentioned the word algorithms at all, but just used words like "Soul", "Warmth", "Character", "Grit". All of which my Reason 4.0.1 has in bucket loads already. As for people asking for another compressor, well, why don't they chain a few together already? See, it's down to what I hear in this video, I don't hear any significant difference at all in the new stuff. I still use Reason 4 a lot, but I also have an analog studio and run Logic on a Mac.
@OneFifthNative Well, I can assure you there is an audible difference - we didn't really go in-depth with this video. Feel free to try the demo out when it's released though! :)
Oh, and sorry for using another youtube account - having some Google Account issues.
Reminds be a little of the SoundToys Decapacitator Plugin, and on a side note, I can't believe I have to pay 100 dollars for this because I bought Reason 5 early...completely absurd.
@Capecodone If you don't have Record, yet. I think you can take advantage of the crossgrade grace period upgrade. You get Record for Reason owners, it comes with an upgrade to Reason 5... and you get a free download upgrade to R6 on release. But please check those details on our website to confirm as I'm not the expert on the upgrades and grace period stuff.
@dutchog1 you can certainly upgrade from 2.5 to 6. You could even upgrade from 1 to 6. No prob. It's not the disc you'll need. It's the registration. If you've registered your 2.5 software when you got it, you'll be fine.
As Reason 6 is 64 bit, will it still run OK on a 32 bit computer? I really want to upgrade, but am worried it might be too much for my machine to handle.
@astrophonix You can still run it as 32bit. From what I understand, the Mac installer will just know which one to run and the Windows installers will have separate 32 and 64 bit installs.
OK, I've removed my "skeptical hat". Sure, I have stand-alone tools that can do all of this, most of which have a lot more parameters too, but once again I'm amazed at how you guys can take so many tools, put them into a single virtual unit and actually make using it intuitive and non-threatening. From what I hear, it actually sounds pretty damned good too. And the fact that Reason cost less than almost every one of those single purpose tools doesn't hurt! I won't be tossing said tools though.
@VTOLKits Yes it's stereo. I didn't get into it in the tutorial but there's a button called "spread" on the tremolo section which changes the oscillation from a mono up/down to a stereo left right movement. So the volume tremolo would pan back and forth instead of fading in and out. Pretty groovy in headphones.
Think about it, the update from Reason+Record to Reason 6 is $99. We get three brand new effects modules, that's $33 dollars each. Paid VST plugins can go into the range of $50-$200. I think we're getting a bargain, stop complaining about the upgrade and just accept it for what it is!
@ElectrizCity There is workarounds for all of them, which you could download for free so sorry! Nor has Propellerhead addressed or answered one of my questions themselves. Like I said I am glad they made these as they have great uses that's for sure but you are not gaining much but 64-bit and Transpose if you already have the Reason/Record Duo. And you said it best you think you are getting a bargain, I believe if I was a sole Reason with no Record user this upgrade makes the world of difference
I've been beta testing Reason 6, and I love it! Prior to 6, Reason 5 would just sit on my dock looking pretty, because Record 1.5 was Reason plus so much more. It made me wonder what the point of Reason standalone was, if there were a point. Really looking forward to the release of Balance next month! Simplicity is bliss. PS, peep some songs I've done in Propellerhead on my page.
It should be a free upgrade for Reason and Record user but if you only have Reason or Record separately it should be the price listed. @PropellerheadSW But im pretty sure that's not what i ment :S... Reason 5 didn't even really come out long ago.. So for someone who paid a 200-300 £'s + the currency rate for $'s... Are not exactly going to pay again this amount for 6, for maybe a god couple of years... So I was just saying. Why not just an upgrade/add-on for V5... Dont be a dick all your life...
I'd LOVE if they improved the EQ device, cuz it gets kinda irritating using more than 3 EQ devices for 1 synth, since the parametric knobs seem to be the only useful ones.
@Hejzwej Yeah, one thing reason can improve on, that's for sure. A nice spectrum analyzer would be good too, but I think that might go against their moto.
@rhoggard76 you can, but you have to guess which sequencies it shows.. also i think pulveriser is nothing really new, you can do most of that with a scream unit and a lfo..

@PropellerheadSW Yeah, I forgot about that. It is nice. You can't put it inline as a device though, so it is kind of limited as to when and how you can use it. But I do like it.
@mafoo17 well, that was kind of an exaggeration, but if I want to (for example) entirely cut out the low end, I usually have to make more than one device. The pitiful range of the knobs is like running with frozen joints.
@Hejzwej i dont think the eq is designed to be a cut off. you can use the stereo image in "hi" mode, set the xover freq to w/e you want to cut off. i feel like the eq should only be used to make fine adjustments. i do agree the range can be a bit on the shallow side, but use the stereo imager or route your audio through a filter on thor to do lo/hi cuts
@Hejzwej In Reason 6 you have a new mixer that has a great sounding EQ and - as it sounds you're looking for - low-pass and high-pass filters on every channel. That can entirely cut out the low or high end! You can also use the filters on the synths if you're not planning to upgrade to Reason 6 - the state variable in Thor is very flexible. :)
