when i restarted my ps3 i can't get os to work it just makes my ps3 switch on then of nothing even appears on the screen any help?

Have you changed the PS3's boot option to Other OS?

yeah did that then the screen goes of. then the ps3 switchs itself of. then when i switch ps3 back on it won't load and ps3 goes of. i manged to get back to the ps3 oprating system after pressing a button as soon as i switched it on it got it back any help?

u dont hav 2 use an hdtv u could use this command when it says kboot. install_ps3_480i. thats all u need

Ok My ps3,Is the newest 80gb. i did not do anything yet to put ydl on my ps3. Buy when i looked at where the default system thing was but it was not there. Install other os was there but not default system. would i need to install a linux first to see that?

im pretty sure it will only output in hdmi while running yellowdog. thats the only reason i can think of. so the screen will be blank.

Nice vid. I'm thinking about buying a 320gb SATA 2.5 HDD for my PS3, they come pretty cheap on ebay these days, and I'm going to be using my 60gb as an external HDD.

Seeing as how the 320 will be just for linux, how do I allot all of it to the other os? there doesnt seem to be an option, just to allot 10gb to it. Would that just be for the installation or for the whole of the Linux storage space?

Have you followed the instructions carefully. I have never encountered these errors. Make sure that you have correctly formatted you hard drive. Don't forget to back up!

_ your rootfs does not have the correct volume label of "/"

_ your rootfs is corrup (use the rescue cd to fix this)

just like any other OS there isn't a Uninstall program that will remove it, but the method that will clear up the space that yellow dog is using would be to reformat the PS3's Hd. Remember the consequences of that(formatting the HD) though, I stress them in the video!

ecks225, I'm sure you can install other Linux OS's. One I'm sure of is Xubuntu. As far as Windows and Mac goes, although some people may have found ways to do it there aren't any official Drivers that support those two OS's. When you reboot the system does not revert back to the PS3 OS. In the command line you have to type game-boot-os and when it restarts it should go back to the PS3 OS.
