The recording sessions followed the Parma Toscas. Seghers' book suggests he was not in the best vocal shape though the Parma performances had been such a triumph. EMI's claim is that Corelli was a perfectionist and highly critical of his own singing and that he had intended to do further work on the project in terms of editing and refining, but unfortunately it never happened and the recording project collasped.
Catalani, quiso mezclar la fuerza wagneriana con el ímpetu italiano, y a mi modesto entender, dió por resultado, un sentido "Atonal", en sus obras, considerado como un pre-verista, creo que no era muy cuidadoso del material vocal de los cantantes. When listening to this, I think it's not exaggerated to note that Corelli in suboptimal shape's still way better than most tenors of our time.
