Can it start out just like a rash? Mine started out as a rash, or hard lumps under the skin that really itched...and then it would peel and spread. Kind of getting out of control, and I'm not sure my doctor really knows what it is.
Warts do not typically itch, and spread that quickly. Another possibility is an atypical bacterial infection, possibly an aggressive fungus. You probably should have the site reevaluated, and perhaps have a culture taken or a simple skin biopsy performed if there is still doubt.
This is not going to help much, as the skin needs a consistent tissue reaction with inflammation to begin the immune response. Trauma to the skin by simply cutting it will not likely work very well.
Is it possible that I could use nail clippers to tare the skin so the immune system reacts to the cut, then the wart? Please respond, my warts are painful!
The easiest way to do this is chemicals that irritate the skin. Salicylic acid is common. Unfortunately, the concentration of over-the-counter products is not usually enough to create a good immune response with regard to foot warts. Some people use the irritating adhesive of duct tape for this, but I have rarely ever seen this work.
Yes, there are dozens of treatments that all vary in their effectiveness. These include various other acidic and sometimes toxic chemicals, freezing with liquid nitrogen, injection of anti-tumor medication, and even an oral stomach acid medication. These are lesser used treatments, but do have their place. Surgery with electrical tissue burning or laser is also used, although this does not create the necessary immune reaction to completely destroy all presence of the virus.
