To anyone who is confused, most saw players, including me, do put the saw blade towards the body, as it allows a less awkward position in which to bow. By the way, you will be able to get the saw to sing better if you curve the end downward as you move it.

no, not props, there is a pickup on the back of the saw and a line 6 synth pedal running through it. if you hold a drill over a plugged up guitar, you get a similar effect. the synth pedal just makes the squelchy sounds project more.
