Protracker Amiga Music - Use Your Right

I am in love with any oldschool audio formats. Tracked or not, MIDI, the playback devices (OPL/SoundBlaster/adlib), Genesis, SNES, NES, GBA,.... I just discovered the huge diversity of the Amiga tracker. Now, my AMIGA musics folder will get some more files to hold :D Thanks for this video!

I was wondering, a friend and I are in the middle of updating an old P.D game we made around 1995, Called Renegades, we're looking for a song for the titlescreen....this would be ideal. It was a 2 player split screen deathmatch game, you can find it on AmigaPD Dotcom.

Amiga MODs sound better on Amiga than on PeeZee. On Amiga it all sounds warmer and on PeeZee it sound harsh and annoying. I plug my Amiga and my laptop into old Technics hifi and I hear the obvious difference. Of course I have all eq's on laptop off and Amiga's Paula chip make these sounds better... And I don't mean Amiga's low-pass filter. ;D

I often use Amigas to compose MIDI tunes to port to a DAW and embellish.

Paste into bar THE JIMMY RIDDLE ORCHESTRA - MIDI SYMPHETTE for a decent little micro symphony.

@TheDustpile could you write how you can do this efficiently (program, transferring...)? i bought an amiga 500 yesterday and plan to do exactly this in the future.

@ThaFacka It depends on whether you want to use a tracker, notator or MIDI sequencer. The last two are available in abundance on the PC, with far superior capabilities. If you wish to use a tracker then I can't help you.

On the Amiga I used Instant Music (an idiot-proof piano roll toy), Music Mouse (intricate scales made easy and MIDI-exportable in realtime) and Deluxe Music to play with notes and MIDI.

@TheDustpile As of now, I wanna use a tracker (historical reasons of mine!) but then, when going for a professional level export the most important things. Maybe I will settle for exporting .mod files and after that convert/import them into the PC DAW.

I see you have lots of experience, maybe share a video of your workflow :) On the other hand, I'll take a look at those programs you mentioned. It's not that I don't want to be surprised by new approaches, cheers!! ;)

@ThaFacka My workflow is so simple I can just tell you: Import and export of MIDI, either in realtime or as project files. Remember I mentioned Instant Music? I imported my play files into Deluxe Music and saved as MIDI. I then used Amiga Forever to serial network with the PC to transfer them. (Many free packages are also out there but AF can configure from the PC end automatically.)

Either that or I output realtime MIDI from Music Mouse using a MIDI interface or input to play the Sonix synth.

@ThaFacka I use AMIGA FOREVER as an easy data transfer package. Disks can be ported to and from the PC for storage and retrieval. Other packages are available but I would advise writing to me for a walkthrough.

There is also the Sonix MIDI piano program which makes use of the Amiga synth, plus stacks of Amiga samples can be found and used in either Deluxe Music or PC sound editors. There's lots to do but I need to know what.

Hey just a quick FYI, ModPlug's mod replayer is pretty bad and innacurate, this shows up clearest on mods like mod.cream . On PC for best mod results xmplay is prolly your best bet or of course deliplayer. Remember to set stereo separation to max! For the bestest on PC though you could run winuae and use ProTracker itself or HippoPlayer etc.

it sounds a little bit loud on my laptop. my old Amiga A600 sequencer crashed less than my PC .. but i couldnt go back. Music-x was a big challenge .. but addictive. i thought Megglo sound sampler was brilliant.
