Thanks! It's been such a long time, let me see... The fuse itself was a white solid. For the lit flame, if I remember correctly, I used a plugin for Adobe After Effects called Particle Illusion. It had all sorts of flame effects. This one simulated a group of dancing stars, and I just made them come very, very close to one another, making just one thing.
There are many different plugins for After Effects. It's always good to learn what they do, so you'll most likely find the effect you want.

That would be very hard for me. I made this video in 2008. It was in a different computer, and I don't even have the software anymore. Your situation now reminds me of mine back then. I wanted to make the effect but had no idea how, so I learned how to use After Effects. That's what I can suggest you do. Good luck!
