  • 我爱川井宪次,他的音乐是全人类的艺术瑰宝。

  • This music is almost haunting...

  • This is one of my favorite movie songs.

  • This music makes me cry. It's so beautiful!

  • 私はまだこれよりいいアニメに出会ったことがない

  • *****NOt supposed to be clones

  • also theyre supposed to be clones because they want them to retain their combat experience, so somehow they reconstruct and bring them back to life. also they have feelings of familiarity in certain places. and in the end the main character identifies teacher as his father n this wasnt told to him by anybody. It makes philosophical sense that they bring them back to life tho no actual sense of course no one is really asking for that

  • amazing movie btw one with which I can relate to on many levels

  • when i look at the comment dates i wonder if anyone is still watching this great movie

  • @Tomsukin yea it seems like no one's watching this show anymore, such a shame that people doesn't appreciate masterpiece like this movie. Instead they like the hollywood movies which i am really sick of, i think hollywood movies nowadays are kinda bad. Everything's so predictable and cliche in hollywood movies nowadays.

  • @superotakufan it sucks a whole bunch of movies end happily it makes people think everything is gonna end happy

  • @Tomsukin yea exactly, it always has the happy ending. happily ever after kinda bullshit in those movies. And everybody likes it coz well it ends happily, i for one dislike that.

  • @superotakufan this movie had a happy ending its just not overdone

  • I love the film so much , one of my favorite movies and make me want to fly planes freely and figthers

  • I liked the graphic and the theme, the rest was just MAA NE

  • Amazing song I love it.

  • Sky crawlers is one of the best movies out there for me. The music is great, visuals are awesome, the story is deep. And actually, unlike most of you here, I found the end quite optimistic, somehow.

  • Great song to accompany writing :))).

  • beautiful song...I love it :)

  • So Japanese! This music captures the essence of Japan. Kenji is a master!

  • Deep.. :P

  • La película es un tanto extraña...pero sinceramente está muy bien cuidada (gracias a esta maravillosa Banda Sonora).

  • the movie is hard to understand, but i fell in love with either way :)

  • Magnifique, comme toujours de la part de Kenji Kawaï !!!

  • this is one of my all time favorite animated movies im supprised i understood what was happening right away the end is really quite sad though but all in all a great movie :)

  • ordinary people cant understand the meaning of this movie, it.s really hard to understand.

  • @battuvshin890619

I think taht it was a beautiful movie, but at the same time, it's one of those movies that are really hard to understand; a deep movie. I had to watch it twice before I understood what was goign on! xD

  • i really like the film and the music...

  • The music of Kenji Kawai is so EPIC... After the soundracks of Ghost in the Shell 1+2 and now this...

I think we have a fantastic twin: Mamoru Oshii (as the director) and Kenji Kawai (as the composer), we except many great things from them!!!

  • Ive read all the novels, they really explain it.

Pretty much the story is an never-ending cycle. When the Kildore die they are revived and their memories implanted into them. They just take time to "remember" everything. Becasue they dont age, they have no real sense of time. The only way for them to die is to get shot up in the air, so they spend everyday just "floating around"

its hard to explain but yea Beautiful story.

And the guy at the end is Yuuichi again, with a different name

  • i love watching this movie and its sparked a dream to become a fighter pilot. not to fight, but rather to fly freely without having to worry about fifty people on the plane with me...the graphics and scenery in this movie were absolutely amazing, and the theme gets stuck in my head for hours and hours after i hear it, no matter how many times i hear it. love love love this movie and i will never forget it.

  • Love this theme!

  • This movie is epic, hard to understand for most people but still epic non the less :)

  • @adrianGGO I saw it in cinema and the subtitles for some reason wouldn't come on, think how hard it was for my to understand XD

  • Best song and Anime ever! Im in the Military and what the movie teaches is the importance of War and a perspective from the outside looking in to the lives of the soldiers. It sheds some but not all the light on what some of us go through but it does help people see our side of the story but not that we are brought back to life but that this cycle will continue...

  • As I said before recently, simply beautiful! Is it available on CD in the North American market?

  • @kcolpaer It is ^-^ In Blue Ray as well ^-^

  • A profound and beautiful film, whose score alone reduced me to tears....

  • absolutely a great movie. I thought it was a bit boring in the beginning. I didn't first get the idea of the movie. But in the end I realized the clone thing (and much more) when the guy with white hair started to fold the newspaper just like the previous guy did. After that I thought "This might be the one of the best movies I've ever seen."

  • eai cara gotei para caranba

  • This movie is awesome :D

Yeah, it's really hard to undestand the thing in it, but this is one of the reasons why am I love it :D

  • I found the story to be interesting and certainly deep, but largely irrelevant. It's not a culturally significant work since it has little or poor reference to real problems humanity struggles with (in my opinion).

That being said, it was certainly enjoyable, and the visuals and soundtrack were stunning.

  • You have a point. But an irrelevant one.

One have to remember the movie was made in Japan. A country with few real problems. Atleast compared to the West today.

Besides, who ever said a movie needs to stay relevant with reality?

This is a piece of art. Art doesnt have to follow mind patterns rules or time.

  • The sountrack and the visuals in this movie are both amazin, i love the landscape animation and the planes and sky battles, but the story is too flat i think, and some things didnt make sense. What was the significance of the old man sittin on the stairs outside the diner?

  • @LoveFrusciante actually the sotry is prety deep and I would say taht the old man sitin on the stairs means something like ... nothing ever changes

  • @zizikelizike yes I agree the story in itself is very deep but it doesnt really come across in the movie i think, it's more like several cool twists put on for the sake of them but it didnt flow naturally and the characterd didnt come out deep enough. But i did like everything else!

  • @zizikelizike The old man was never explained. Could he have been the Teacher? That's what I thought the second time I saw the movie.

  • @zizikelizike I reckon, though this is only a hunch with no supporting evidence, that the old man is the "Teacher"

  • @zizikelizike Wow, deep, dude.

  • @LoveFrusciante The movie was actually based on a series of books so if things seem flat and don't make sense, that's probably why. There is more to the story.

  • @LoveFrusciante the story is easier to follow if you've seen ghost in the shell 2 a few times.

  • @TheMasterscroll Well I have seen all of GITS, didnt say the story wasn't easy to follow, just that it was, in my opinion, not the most interesting.

  • @LoveFrusciante the old man is (maybe) the father of the man that serve (sorry for the crazy english =) i'm italian)

the father is bored to live a life hopeless and dark

in the film the life is similar to an infinite dream and also the war is a game

the son in the end sit down side the father (see the similarity of the faces) because see the truth

    to the life

    my opinion.. XD

  • @LoveFrusciante The significance of this old man is the same as the humanity which is just waiting for death in the anime Texhnolyze. A world where there is nothing to see or accomplishing anymore. They fight to entertain a world which does not want to recognize that it is finished. The old man has understood this and just wait until death. It is my opinion.

  • Ignoring the fact that he keeps coming back with a different name

  • Just read the books no need to bring da Vinci into this -_- I mean it's ok to look for a meaning but not like that and yes is a typical lesson there is always a reason to keep on living but...what I understood is that he died and was no different from all the others that died the war keeps going.

  • EPIC track!

  • I just finished watching the movie...I'll have to rewatch this since so many things seemed to have went over my head.... It was so good but so sad too....

But help me, was Yuuichi's "dad" the Teacher? He said, "I'll kill my father..." And what's the Teacher's relationship with Kusinagi? Sorry if this is a spoiler!! T^T

  • @TwilightFire It may be that the Teacher provided the DNA samples for the pilots he now faces in combat. That's really the only way he could be the father of a clone, is it not?

He is also definitely the father of Kusinagi's daughter, which is stated at some point. I haven't seen the movie in a long time, I'll need to go re-watch it.

  • @Maverick050598 Very freaky if that's who he is. I wonder if they've clone the Teacher a multiple number of times? (But he's never died, I guess...unless by natural means...)

I'll have to watch this again! So many good points. I feel for Yuuichi....

  • @TwilightFire I think what makes the Teacher special is the fact that he ISN'T a clone. At one point, Yuuichi is discussing it with a fellow pilot who says, "You know, they say he isn't like us. He's a man. An ordinary, adult man." I love movies like this, ones you can watch multiple times and still have so much to get out of the story.

  • best anime movie ever

  • Comment removed

  • @edpjunior yap thanks all to Mamoru Oshii for this amine he does very good anime movies like ghost in the shell back in the 80's

  • The truly amazing part about the movie is that when you watch it for a second time you are looking at it from a totally different perspective.

  • this is a really rare film, and is really good of course, i like so much the place of the film.. and of course, very good music

  • Adult pilotssss..... *A*

  • This movie was made up of awkward silences...

  • @IdeeTheRaccoon Agreed. haha I know this movie only for the badass dogfights and agonizingly LONG moments of just a frozen screen.

  • Anyone else think this movie was really 1984ish?

  • I like that movie! I cried in da end, then he's dead. :c

  • anyone knows where to watch this movie?

  • i cried at the end of the movie :( but it was one of the most amazing animated movies i've ever seen :P

  • Fucking brilliant movie, I hired it over Zune videos via Xbox Live video marketplace. This gave me a 24 hours rental time, in which I watched the movie three times (:

Now ordered off Ebay, just another one of those movies to add to my collection I've dubbed; watch atleast once a fortnight. (Which is a very small collection!)

  • awsome music keep making more of this movie

  • This music is so amazing!!

  • Love this movie!

    So haunting yet true.

Clones in war! Brilliant idea but saddening. :')

  • song name ?

  • just finished watching this movie, wasent sure of it at first but as it went along it started getting pretty good. I love the song at the end, does any body know who the artist and the particular version of the song is called and if so , is it downloadable through itunes??

  • @himondius the composer is Kenji Kawai if you've seen Ghost in teh shell you would see how he has a particular ethereal, mysterious style when it comes to these types of movies

  • @himondius Konya mo Hoshi ni Dakarete by Ayaka. I don't know if it's downloadable from iTunes,

  • just finished watching this movie, wasent sure of it at first but as it went along it started getting pretty good. I love the song at the end, does any body know who the artist and the particular version of the song is called and if so , is it downloadable through itunes??

  • I wish this song could be 30 minutes long so I don't have to push the play button over and over again.

  • @reproduktsioon Can't you just put somekind of "repeat song" option?

  • The story unfolds in another 'possible' modern age.The main characters are youngsters called 'Kildren', who are destined to live eternally in their adolescence. The Kildren are conscious that every day could be the last, because they fight a 'war as entertainment' organised and operated by adults. But as they embrace the reality they are faced with, they live their day to-day lives to the fall.

  • I ENJOYED THIS MOVIE ALOT! :)

  • havnt even seen the movie yet and this song almost makes me cry

  • Beautiful movie by Oshii, it brought tears to my eyes..

  • I've just finished watching this movie a few minutes ago. It was stunning and has a deep meaning.

  • I didn't understand the movie what's up with the dude that show at the end right after the credits?????

  • @LeoJM777 its somekind of a clone... xD its a hard movie yea :)

  • @LeoJM777 It's just another pilot, a clone again. As it's said in the movie, War is needed for humans. It's an endless game.

  • @LeoJM777 He is the replacement of the first Kildren (It's a mix of killer and children). The movie theme maybe about life itself is a circle and no one known why because we don't remember anything. The second theme from my deduction maybe is that once a person died there would be a replacement for that missing spot. This quote also applies "Our life is made by the death of others" Leonardo da Vinci. We are simply just replacement of the deaths.

  • @khangsector Boy, that´s a sad point o f view, glad Im a christian now and my home is in a world yet to come.

  • @LeoJM777 Me too bro, but i wonder how my life will end, maybe it will be something irony.

  • @LeoJM777

    He is the "next" Jinroh.

  • @LeoJM777 He's the reincarnation of Kannami :3

  • @LeoJM777 its his clone, took me a while to figure it out lol

  • @LeoJM777 SPOILER ALERT:

Kannami, the fellow shot down at the end, is a clone, who's sole purpose is to fight in aerial combat til' death. Basically, after the credits, another clone shows up to repeat Kannami's process. The whole payoff of the ending with Kannami getting killed, is that the same misery is repeated over and over (which is why Jinrosh requested Kusanagi to kill him, as well as Kusanagi requesting Kannami to kill her). It's a VERY bleak and depressing film.

  • @TetraVaalBioSecurity once again its not as bleak as you think, and hes not the only one being brought back to life. At the end he changed kusagnis perspective (because the other girl opened his eyes) as well as the revival of the fighter pilot that reads newaps Each time he comes back something changes. The last one that came back at the end is going to be told everything by kusanagi in beginning. The only thing I dont get is the relevance of his father changing sides

  • @nevermoonawolf I figured the relevance of the father changing sides was because it made the opposing corporation an enemy that could not be defeated... but that's just me.

  • @LeoJM777 I think it was something like a clone of the main character. Because he obviously died. The clone had his personality, but no memories. It's like Midgarsorm. You know that? But that's the theme of the whole film. A lot of 'people' die, but not a single thing changes. It's quite hard and depressive.

  • You can change the side of the road that you walk down every day. Even if the road is the same you can still see new things. Isn't that enough to live for? Or dose that mean that it isn't enough?

  • i want a hair like him..

  • Theme Song- Beautiful, Movie-Unblevible

  • Oshii's a legend but wasnt to keen on the whole romance, he's not a romantic director. Still crackin' show

  • sta canzone è troppo shok!!!!!!

  • This theme song is so addictive! I adore the movie! Repeatedly watch it! A++

  • Just recently watched this movie...I was quite shocked that it hasn't gotten more acclaim than it has. The soundtrack is also fantastic.

Of course, I've been playing Il-2 a lot lately, and I get terrified whenever a white Fw-190 shows up at the battle. I'm tempted to yell "Teacher!" XP

  • it's an amazing music for an amazing movie.. =')

  • sky crawlers just live life like theres no tomorrow, but that doesnt mean smal things doesnt give them joy, the sky was the place were they could feel free, they feel, this film is about love story

  • I got this from blockbuster on blu-ray, the video and audio quality is amazing, you truly feel like you're almost apart of plot and action scenes and don't get me started on the soundtrack, I highly recommened this movie to anyone who like anime in general.

  • Comment removed

  • SOUND of The Sky Crawlers

    MAGNIFICO

  • Touching Movie

    I Feel Like Crying

  • this movie has a great sound track, but the movie was a little boring for me. first off, the movie was like 2 - 3 hours long. during the majority of movie, all of the scenes were depressing. worst, the main character dies in the end, and it starts all over again.

based on the trailer, i thought the movie would be more of a action based anime such as gundam or something relavent, but it isn't. it' s a movie with many emotions.

  • You don't know how much I'd like to watch a movie like this.

You know a plac where I can find the movie?

  • yeah the dvd

  • yeah, blockbuster should have it

  • yeah, i know what you mean

  • So did I but then I looked at Ghost in a Shell, and Sky Crawlers had the same feel as that. While i havent read the book, I think that may have had an influence on the way the movie was made in terms of emotion scenes to action scenes.

  • you sonofo...SPOILER ALERT!!!???!!!

  • I agree somewhat. Not sure really where the director had in mind when making this film. There were many needless silent moments and various amount of plot holes.

But I enjoyed nonetheless. I guess you have to appreciate it for what it is. That being said it is part of several novels. Which I hope one day gets published in English.

  • you might not want to write that ....not all of us have seen this movie <__<

  • dude they're kildrens....which i think are just biological weapons that technocally never really die(basically they are complete clones with different memories). I dunno what "the teacher" is a metaphor for, so whatever. So the ending is just the dude coming back and doing the same thing...just as everyone else there. constantly coming to fight and eventually just dying to come back again never to truly rest. Just living a life without joy and only to see there own deaths just to come back.

  • Uh, anyone for SPOILERS?! That could ruin the movie for some people. :P

  • Mmm... sounds wonderful.

  • also, he says it near the end, "Even if your life is the same road everyday, you can walk down a different side and find something new. Isn't that enough of a reason to live?"

im not sure if i got it all right, but im sure this is close,

  • This movie is sooooo fucking goood. Watch it at an Anime all nighter, defiently getting this when it comes out.

  • Good movie, depressing also and I wish there were more fight scenes. But you should still see it, its a very complicated movie but you'll still enjoy it.

  • Wow. Amazing movie.

  • real time paska music

  • please if anyone can be bothered could you tell me what you thought the movie was about; the truth behind the metaphor of the plot

  • I'm fairly sure the war is for entertainment, and live life to the fullest.

  • I haven't put much thought on the metaphor of the plot, it seems like the story of people easily replacing people during war and how lives seem to repeat.

    It's a very beautiful movie

  • The movie comes right out and says it: If you never have war, you can never understand peace. As terrible as it sounds, war is a necessary evil that makes us human. They wanted to show a synthetic war, in which the participants are nameless, faceless soldiers. People looking from the outside in, see the horror, and have a greater respect for, and strive for peace.

  • thats part of it, but there's more too it then that. Think about the characters day to day lives. Meaningless, boring, never changing. And they are all apathetic. Reminds you a little of ours doesn't it?

  • I couldn't agree more.

  • @Galwynd It's a cycle lol. kill then die. Peace then war. war then pece.

One thing i have to say is i never get bored at how humanity kills countless men, women and children in the name of "good". Ha ha ha pathetic fools. Well it always produces some nice videos.

  • @Galwynd Amen Soldier ......

  • @Galwynd i like the "if you never have war, you can never understand peace." that would make such a great quote!

  • @blackstardust18 Just to challenge the movie's assertion: Why would you need to understand peace if there was no such thing as war?

  • @Imperiused well peace and war are pretty general terms arent they? like a description of good and bad, right and wrong, light and dark. You can associate war with death, and sadness, and peace, with life and joy. so i suppose, if people never cried, something like happiness could never be understood. it's necessary for humans to progress, and eventually, to come to terms with the world that surrounds them. the day is coming though, when people can truly understand each other. a utopia of heart.

  • @lostkeychain well explained. It was a great movie.

  • @Galwynd

Not only that, but the soldiers themselves, so accustomed they were to the lifestyle they only knew, never cared or questioned if anything different would be better.

In many ways, that also resembles Japan's hikkomori problem; some are so fine off with their current living arrangements that they'll repel or wave off an alternate existence.

Sky Crawlers is my first, and thus far, my favorite Oshii work.

  • @Galwynd This sort of thing is always open for interpretation, but I think you missed the underlying message, namely that there's always potential for change. What you're describing is the overall theme of the film, however what I thought was much more important was the exchange between the protagonist and Kusanagi during their last meeting. Despite the fact that their world keeps repeating itself, neither of them had to kill. [cont.]

  • [2] Not only that, but the protagonist specifically states that Kusanagi, probably being the oldest kill-doll, -must- live in order for this change to occur. In a similar vain, he attempts to destroy Teacher and thus break the rules discussed in Warshaw. Even though he falls, another one of his selves shows up to attempt it again and perhaps succeed where he failed, as he succeeded in convincing Kusanagi that neither of them had to kill each other (something his predecessor couldn't do).

  • @Yupiyeahs

He is not the one to blame, his predecessor was himself. Only Kusanagi was different.

  • i watched this today! :D!

  • how that feel?:D

  • Based on some of these responses, you "got it" before I did. I did not realize how deep and stirring this was until the day after. Plus, stay and watch the epilogue after the credits. If you stop at the credits you will cry hard.

  • いい曲♪

  • By far the most beautiful movie i have ever seen. It just flowed really.

  • This film is almost Shakespearean in it's sense of destiny, tragedy, and fate. If I oculd only touch that in a written world as vivid as this. Great film. I'l give it a 10. Some may disagree, but on just a personal level, I liked this better than Ghost in the Shell and Innocence.

  • Nice music.

  • his movie alway like this just like Solid State Society.

  • Except Mamoru Oshii didn't direct the Solid State Society movie...

  • is there any way i could find the mp3 for this? just wondering if its not a problem. I've been searching everywhere

  • use torrent client. search in google

    The Sky Crawlers ost

    or

    The Sky Crawlers soundtarcks

    and you will find.

  • this had some awesome music, and the quality of the movie was amazing (though i didn't understand the plot till around the end of the movie)

  • I know exactly what you mean. I watched and it wasn't till just around the time they are bolwing that it dawned on me what was going on and who was who and what was -=really=- going . (Didn't want to give away too many spoilers) But when I relaized I was like zOMG! No way!

  • I figured out everything about 3/4 into the film, around when Kusanagi and Yuuichi are at the bar, or maybe a little before or after that I forget. But I was like WOOOOW...amazing. Very well thought out. Much deeper then you'd think.

  • true indeed, it was quite the mindflip once you realize what is exactly happening. I was suprised there was not some type of riot or outbreak near the end myself.

  • thanks for this
