The Champ Cars were almost 3 seconds a lap faster than the IRL cars at Long Beach.

I'm sure some of it is the fact the Champ car chassis seems more superior the the indycar chassis. But maybe something that was overlooked is that Push to Pass feature the champ car had.

Champ cars had better bottom end torque than the indy cars... The Indy cars chassis are suited for ovals where their engines come alive on the high end...

I thought they sounded different at Long Beach. They didnt sound too bad, but they sound restricted imo. Was there anything else done over the winter? I mean even though they were close to 3 seconds slower than champ cars, they didnt look too bad in the corners.

this track has benn changed so many times. the best singleseater onboard cam is from the 1978 layout ( the originel ) with patrick depailler on his tyrell ford 008. superb drive !

Yeah, the track layout has changed...dont know why though, the old layout was fantastic. It look like there´s a world wide organization to take out emotion from motorsports :/

The last layout change was the result of some development project in the area, if I recall correctly.

@IndyCarDriver I think the current IndyCars would be much better on the old layout before the fountain was used.
