It's amazing how everyone on here has probably already seen this final before yet when we watch it again we are still drawn in by the tense atmosphere and give a little smile for Dennis Taylor. It's the magic of the Crucible I guess!
Those two videos show most impressively the raising of the tenseness to it's climax. Thank you very much for uploading this historic moment in the world of snooker.
I remember this well. 8 years old, Staying up late, my dad and uncle back from the pub and everyone screaming for Taylor. The excitement is one of my clearest memories from childhood
@Dristarg Yes Mike Hallett beat him in Round 1 his first match back in 1986 and Joe Johnson beat Steve Davis in The Final. Davis won in 87 88 and 89 to get his record 6 world championships
@WalkerTony I felt so bad that the speccy lucky Irish twat beat the legendary Englishmam Steve Davis. Taylor was a one hit wonder. Davis is a snooker legend
dennis definately earned it !! the brown blue and pink were amazingly dificult under the circumstances !! everyone wanted him to win so much !! great memories , two of the greats !!
@colomblanco Under that amount of pressure, the simplest shots are next to impossible. The cueball wasn't THAT easy to control from the position of the pink, anyway.
i also watched the last minutes of the reconstruction today , those were some amazing balls they potted :) !! it was much fun :) but taylor potted the black in the middle pocket and said that he missed that one at 6:20 (in the re match) why would he forget such a thing ? :) it's not a big deal tho :) i loved watching them !
Always painful to watch as I wanted Steve to win. I was 8 and was up 25 years ago today with the family and witnessed it. The defining moment in the sport and the best and most memorable frame of all time! Ted Lowe added something special to it all too...
today,i saw on eurosport the same players after 25 years playing the same game:))dennis taylor shot the black that he missed 25 years ago, it was very funny
@maghi96 haha yeah i just seen that to , the long double and potted it straight in the middle of the pocket , very funny. But watching this video makes my palms sweat!
@snookermaximum Wasn't the 18.5 mill only in the uk? I heard the commentater on yesterday's 25th anniversery that 2 mil from both germany and belgium also watched it.
In any way.. for that time that's a lot of veiwers O.o
@snookermaximum correct 18.5 million I read somewhere watched this on BBC2 one of the channel's highest viewing figures since the channel's launch in 1964 and one of the highest after midnight viewing numbers.
im from ireland and was on the edge of my seat during this match wanting dennis to win and at school the next day it was all the talk was about great memorys hurricane higgins jimmy white also super upload mate thanks for the memorys
@fep70 I was commenting on the caption, I think that was in reference to his three wins in 87,88 and 89 as the video must have been made in the early nineties and predicted that the Nugget would go on to win more, how wrong that prediction was!
The final frame, The final black! Love it :)

I remember staying up late to watch this on an old black and White TV. Those were the days. The greatest moment ever in snooker.

Are you kidding me? I know drunk locals down at the returned servicemen club who could have pulled that black ball shot off no problems.

The following year, Dennis fell victim to the 'Crucible Curse' of a first-time world snooker champion unable to defend his title.

You must be kidding-this made Steve an even bigger star than he was & he has been playing it up for years & making money off of it.

@KMpuggy If Steve Davis saw this, he would like it, to be honest.

RIP Ted Lowe, perhaps the best memory of him. I still get the goosebumps when that white comes round after Davis' miss and the crowd roar Taylor on

Steve's safety shot at 2:50 was outstanding. Getting the black safe from the position that Dennis left him wasn't easy.

Is there a movie with this event in the narration (like "Fever Pitch")?
I'm from Italy, but this is like Italia -Germania 4-3. It's a piece of British history, or not? Thanks.
