Wait! Don't Gremlins die when exposed to bright lights? At 1:07 you can clearly see bright lights of every color shining down upon the Brain, yet no death. Why is that?
I used this scene in a presentation about civilization in college almost ten years ago. :) Back then I had to go to Blockbuster to rent the movie. Today I could have just turn on the computer and pointed it to YouTube. Amazing how times change.
This movie can never be topped, no need for a sequel! They'd just fuck it up anyways with CGI garbage and probably cameos by Justin Beiber and Miley Cyrus...which would be acceptable if they were killed by the Gremlins, of course :D
Speaking of useless info; I can top that one. Did you know that the red-headed bitchy, smart-ass secretary with the glasses in the movie is Haviland Morris. She played Caroline Mulford, Jake Ryans hot blonde girlfriend in the 1984 Molly Ringwald movie, "Sixteen Candles". hehe USELESS!.
Nice one! Isn't it wonderful to have grown up in the tv and movie obsessed America? What a cool time to be alive. Imagine, A simple twist of fate could have put me on Earth somewhere in some dessert in the middle ages. Luckily we made it here and now. So we could enjoy the fruits of all our forefathers struggles and sacrifices..... Like a good Gremlin movie! Thank God for this bizarre spectacle I get to call home! Here's to the eventual release of Gremlins 3! Peace.
i dont want a gremlins 3. It woulndnt be any where as good as the first 2. they would end up using computer generated shit instead of the gremlin pupets we loveand the puppets are what bring the great character into these movies
Sadly, you're probably right. CGI would kill the lo-fi funky vibe of these flicks. That's why my favorite horror/sci-fi movies are almost all pre-CGI. That's back when you scratched your head and wondered: " How the hell did they do THAT?". Today, there's nothing special about effects. There used to be a hands-on, resourcefulness about the materials used and the camera tricks. Now, you just shrug and say: "Obvious CGI, (yawn)."
Hollywood needs to bring back, The old Space ships on strings, and puppets like in these two great movies. i like newer movies but i adore older movies. same goes for music.
I completely agree, SH474M. Some have actually gone as far as calling it one of the worst movies ever, and I really don't get why... I like it alot, even if - like you said - the first one is better.
We all have different opinions, of course. But I just don't understand it; To me, the movie was entertaining just about all the way through... But oh well. I love to love stuff that's hated, so it's cool.
i love gremlins 1 and 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
