I love Ubuntu. Ive used it from version 5 with a million sudo commands, and now on 8.4 a dream to use now compared with early versions. Making more windows games compatible and easier to install would tempt more people over or at least dual boot. Though there are still a few things to be "tweaked" for ease of use for ur average user, it's still a fantastic OS and shouldnt be overlooked. An old pc can even be reborn with this! It's fun learning this OS, like GEM - MS Win 3.1,for us that remember
this is the first ubuntu demo i've seen that wasn't the user simply dicking around with compiz fusion.
thanks.

if you upgrade from hardy heron..does it let you keep all your files like pictures and music and stuff?
lilxlaoxboix412 3 years ago
Yes. Moreover, if you make a separate partition for /home you can upgrade, change distro etc. and all your personal stuff is safe.

thanks. i figured it out like 5 minutes after i posted this comment.
when i installed it something messed up and it wouldn't boot. so i had to re-format and re-install. everything was lost :'(
runie360 3 years ago
That's why it's always conveniet to do a clean install, with a separate /home partition so your data won't be lost.
