your video is my favorite hair journey video, its so insparational every time i get discouraged about growing my hair long i watch this video and it gives me hope, thankyou(:
Im Curios? My Hair Is broken and it about ear length. What did you do to keep your hair heathy? i Mean like what did you use? And How could i stretch my hair? Do i have to bread it? or ... I need alot of help:) Could you give me all the advice you've got?
@kaykayluvieable Yes. As seen in the video, I started my hair journey in November 2006 but I waited till April of 2007 to get a good trim and start fresh. The reason why i didnt cut my hair when i first started was because I was stretching my relaxer and I had braids in, so trimming was far from my mind.
I am curious. What does stretching mean to you? I thought you meant 'waiting' to get your hair relaxed, but I am thinking you are actually talking about stretching the hair with braids?
@Ineedmorelives No, you were right the first guess. Stretching means "waiting" to get the hair relaxed. But natural haired women who have a tight curl pattern can braid their hair over night and unbraid it in the morning, and their hair will be "stretched" to elongate the length. So, both your guesses were right. But in my case, stretching is waiting to get the next relaxer :)
What products did you use while growing it out? or did you just get the braids and waited 6 months? did you wash your hair while the braids were in? if so how many times a month?
@QueenBeauty49 I have a products video which is a response to this video. No I didn't only have the braids. I actually took care of my hair while it was braided. No I did not wash my braids. I tried once, but it made my braids look old really quick so i never did it again.
great job your hair grows much better when you stretch relaxers yeah it maybe hard to comb but it us great...and i love the idea with the shirt great...now if i can get my mom to stretch longer because she just has to have her edges straight...
'm stretching too! 2 months already! but nxt week i'm gonna relax my hair! What I want to ask u is that: Is 2 months stretching okay? or is that too early?
Because I like my hair tied up in a ponytail and after months i gets hard/rough to tie my hair coz of the curls/new growth!
@Chibibehemoth Thank you! I actually have a video about how i'm able to stretch for 6 months. Its titled "How I Stretch For 6 months"..lol. And I also have a product video which is a response to this video.. Thanks for viewing!
dag, it wouldve been two years for me this upcoming july 2011. too bad finances kept me from continuing on my hair journey. i have to start all over from badly damaged hair...AGAIN!!! smh!! :(
This is true your not suppose to relax your hair to close apart wait for a while you will see great results i always wait 2 to 3 months maybe even 4 and my hair growth was amazing keep it up every 6 months and your will be like pocahontas,.,,,remember girls relazer makes your hair beautiful but it can damage your hair to much at once i love it,.,.

@pOeROsesyadig Thank you! Im not a big hairstyle person..im really simple. I either wear my hair under a half wig, or i wear it down, or in curls..thats it lol.
@ladydipset88 i hear ya. i just hope BW get over the facct they have long hair now and show some creative hair styles, thats all. so much for the kinky fro but God Bless
@kayjanell12 I used Windows Movie Maker. It's really self explanatory. But if it's too hard for you to understand, then there are plenty of tutorials on Youtube showing you how to edit videos using Windows Movie Maker.
@chocolatecheesecak3 No reason....I just like my privacy that's all. In future upcoming videos I will probably be showing more of my face. I also have another channel with my stylist where I show my face too.
your hair is beautiful!! its wonderful black women like yourself that give me the motivation to take better care of my hair also:) dont b shy to show your face girl :)
i need ur opinion. i get a lot of sew ins and after like a month and a half ill take it out wash it , dry it and flat iron and do sew ins again do u think that is damaging to my hair...anyone
@danniesagj Well if you're getting sew-ins, you should at least wait 2 weeks to reinstall them again. You should use the 2 weeks to deep condition and treat your hair properly so that it will be strong enough to handle the next sew-in. If you dont take care of your real hair after you take out a sew-in, your setting yourself up for a setback. You definitely need to do a protein treatment after removing a sew-in so that your hair can be strong to handle the next sew-in.
@Shantilicious19 Well in this video, i got box braids to help me grow my hair out. Now that my hair is longer, i mainly keep my hair in a bun now. I have other videos showcasing my regimen and all of that. =)
@congradulator Yes my hair should of been a little longer. The braids beat my ends up a lil bit, and i neglected to trim because i was seeing length. But i had to trim for the sake of the health of my hair. And also, i wasn't taking growth aids in this video, so my hair grew an average of .5 inches a month which is very normal.
@choonks89 Yea of course. I trim my hair every time i relax. Sometimes i get big trims because the braids left me with a little thinness on my ends. But i dont get braids anymore, so its all good now.
@skyup28there Those pics where i covered my face are old. When i first started my journey, i saw women blocking out their faces, so i did the same. My more updated vids show my face :) And also, I like my privacy too.
@NikitaDiamondTV Thanks for your honest opinion...I like my natural hair, which is why i like to stretch my relaxers for so long..But there's only so much i could take. After 6 months are up, my natural hair starts fighting me lol..so i throw in the towel and relax. After i reach my ultimate goal, i am going natural. But not anytime soon. I came too far with relaxed hair to turn back now lol.
That is what I am trying to do with my hair is letting it grow naturally and also using a hair relaxer for my touchups every few months to shee what it looks like after I am done with it.
hi how do you strecth your hair. i try to relax my hair every 6 weeks. when i leave it longer i cant get the comb through my roots!! please help ps my hair is also breaking and very fin, is due to relaxing it to much?? please help....love your video
@myeyeshavebeenopened Relaxing every 6 weeks is like asking for trouble! Dont do it. You should try to stretch them out. If you relaxed at 6 weeks, then next time go for 7 weeks, and after that go for 8 weeks. This helps out a lot and will train your hair to handle stretching. You also need to moisturize your new growth so that it doesn't break off from the relaxed hair.
I LOVE THE GROWTH IN YOU HAIR SHUG... I JUST RECENTLY CUT ALL MY HAIR OFF TO START ALL OVER AGAIN AND I NEED ADVICE... WHAT KIND OF PERMS DO YOU USE AND HOW OFTEN DID YOU GET YOUR HAIR TRIMMED?
i need advice...i had stretched my hair for 9 months and its grown so much i relaxed it at the ending of july and now i have a wedding to go to in the beginning of september...its a exactly 6 weeks that id have to perm my hair again to style it for the wedding so im just wondering if that perm will do damage
@Pimpess001 6 weeks is TOO soon girl. You wont even have at least an inch of new growth, so there WILL be some over processing which will lead to damage thinning hair. You did good when you stretched for 9 months. But if you want to stretch shorter, get a relaxer at LEAST every 8 weeks. 6 weeks is not enough time for new growth. And every time you relax your hair, try to add another week to the stretch. Like if you relax at 8 weeks in September, relax at 9 weeks next the next time you relax.
thank you so much for your video. i have relaxed hair and until now, i never really knew that i could grow it past shoulder length. i love your blog, i have it saved to my favorites, and i'm excited to grow my hair nice and long!
Thanks for sharing your hair is beautiful and I'm researching some videos because my hair is thin and I'm wearing braids and I will also be on a journey for longer fuller hair.
@a2hunts Excuse me? I'm not trying to have European hair...i have BLACK hair..and it's mine, it grows out of my scalp. I just straighten it because it's more manageable for me. However, I will decide to stop relaxing it in a year or two. And remember, it's my hair, i can do what i want to it.
@a2hunts I REALLY WISH PPL STOP CUMN ON OTHER PPL STUFF CRITICIZING THEM! Her hair is very healthy as a result of her regimen! Ppl hv the misconception that relaxed hair equals short, thin, broken hair&that's simply NOT the truth-going natural is a beautiful thing but it's NOT 4everyone! We don't hv 2walk around w/fros 2prove our"blackness". A lot of natural women tk things entirely 2far&it's not that serious. Stop this natural v relaxed mess! It's nothn but a new age light v dark skin mess!
@ladydonna773 Thanks girl...I totally agree with you. Just because Im relaxed doesn't mean i hate myself. My natural hair is very thick and resistant. I find that relaxing my hair gives me more manageability. I hate the whole relaxed vs natural thing too and I hope those debates don't start on my channel!!
omgsh thank u so much 4 posting this like im gunna cry...my hair started out like yours...i stretched it for 9 months n now its healthy and finally shoulder length..looks just like ur 4 stretchs results...im going to stretch it for 6-9 months again and hopefully it will be close to APL
@Princesskai100 Thank you! It's too much to explain but to make it simple, i got box braids. You can visit my blog and click the hair regimen link where you get a break down of my regimen and practices. Thanks for viewing my video.
ur bave!! i cnt go witout a perm cuz i cnt stand seeing new growths cuz i have frizzy hair but am going to be determined and try ur method cuz i have really thin hair and i think that may help. doing so long witout a perm ow wud u normally style ur hair? am bad at that.
@Taliyah18888888888 I stopped getting braids because the longer my hair got, the more thin my ends got with the braids. So i stopped, and now my ends are thick again.
@jazziejay0918 No I consider 1:10 to be full neck length. However, I consider 2:00 to be full shoulder length. My hair grew from full necklength to full shoulder length in 6 months with out any vitamins or growth aids. So you can do it too hopefully =]
Just like others have stated, I hated trimming b/c I felt my hair was getting chopped off, but it REALLY does help. I started watching your videos last August and let me tell you, my hair is alot longer and EVERYONE I know has said something about how great it looks. Keep up the good work girl. (BTW I found I could use your tips but I don't use braids, just no heat and plenty of moisturizer :))
@lovetoodance0932 It helps the hair get thicker because the stylist will be able to see the difference between the natural hair and the relaxed hair and will most likely not over process your hair. Doing 6 month stretches only helps you if you protect the ends of your hair. If the ends are protected, that means the length will me retained. But stretching for 6 months doesn't always work for everybody.
The only reason why your hair is growing its becuz your letting your hair rest and letting your natural hair grow...that great!!!! im natural but I will tell some of my creamy crak friends to do that thx but do you put braids during your 6 months??
@haiti4sho Yep, thats the secret! lol..Yes i put in braids when i stretch for 6 months. But i dont stretch for that long anymore, because my hair got too long for braids. Now i just relax every 12 weeks or so.
@calledforhiswill Trimming is your best friend if you want healthy hair. But if you just want long stringy see through hair, all power to you lol. Thanks! =)
@SuperBirdA I covered my face because most of these pictures were taken a long time ago. When i first joined Fotki, I saw a bunch of women on there blocking out their faces for privacy, so i thought that was normal to do *shrugs* Congrats on being on a hair journey and for the compliment!
@Yasweetluver1 In this video, i didnt use anything. All i did was stretch out my relaxers to 6 months. When you stretch your relaxers, your hair gets thicker. And all the products i used are a response to this video. You should check it out :)
@curlyke In this video, i did not use any growth aids...that's all my natural growth..i made a product video which is a response to this video. And this song is by Drake called "Sooner or later".
i want to say... out of all of the hair journey vids id seen you have one of the best i really like how you did the measurements on the t-shirt that was hot. i never seen that b4. i hope you dont mind if i take that creative idea. so what is your goal how long do you want it? take care!!!
@crystol616 Wow thank you! Yea you can use the tshirt idea. I actually learned about it from someone else so i guess im passing it on to you lol. I am thinking about selling them so stay tuned for that. And my goal for my hair is to reach BSL (brastrap length). Im not sure if i want to go any longer than that.
Beautiful hair girl!

It's nothn but a new age light v dark skin mess!
ladydonna773 1 year ago
@ladydonna773 Thanks girl...I totally agree with you. Just because Im relaxed doesn't mean i hate myself. My natural hair is very thick and resistant. I find that relaxing my hair gives me more manageability. I hate the whole relaxed vs natural thing too and I hope those debates don't start on my channel!!

nikii4900 1 year ago

ladydipset88 1 year ago
@ladydipset88 why did u stop using brauds ?was it doing smth 2 your hair?because i´m thinking about steching with braids 2
Taliyah18888888888 1 year ago
@Taliyah18888888888 I stopped getting braids because the longer my hair got, the more thin my ends got with the braids. So i stopped, and now my ends are thick again.
ladydipset88 1 year ago
my hair is at this length right now 1:10 . is that shoulder lengh?
jazziejay0918 1 year ago
@jazziejay0918 No I consider 1:10 to be full neck length. However, I consider 2:00 to be full shoulder length. My hair grew from full necklength to full shoulder length in 6 months with out any vitamins or growth aids. So you can do it too hopefully =]

ladydipset88 1 year ago
Just like others have stated, I hated trimming b/c I felt my hair was getting chopped off, but it REALLY does help. I started watching your videos last August and let me tell you, my hair is alot longer and EVERYONE I know has said something about how great it looks. Keep up the good work girl. (BTW I found I could use your tips but I don't use braids, just no heat and plenty of moisturizer :))

nope i dont want stringy see thru crap . i am sick of seeing my hair neck length! okay i will clip those ends!

do you wash during ur stretch and put braids in
danniesagj 1 year ago
So taking a break from relaxers for a period of time say six months then et one again helps hair growth ?
lovetoodance0932 1 year ago
@lovetoodance0932 It helps the hair get thicker because the stylist will be able to see the difference between the natural hair and the relaxed hair and will most likely not over process your hair. Doing 6 month stretches only helps you if you protect the ends of your hair. If the ends are protected, that means the length will me retained. But stretching for 6 months doesn't always work for everybody.
ladydipset88 1 year ago
The only reason why your hair is growing its becuz your letting your hair rest and letting your natural hair grow...that great!!!! im natural but I will tell some of my creamy crak friends to do that thx but do you put braids during your 6 months??
haiti4sho 1 year ago
@haiti4sho Yep, thats the secret! lol..Yes i put in braids when i stretch for 6 months. But i dont stretch for that long anymore, because my hair got too long for braids. Now i just relax every 12 weeks or so.
ladydipset88 1 year ago
wow i hate trimming! feels like a set back, however you proved me wrong! great hair dont care lol!
calledforhiswill 1 year ago
@calledforhiswill Trimming is your best friend if you want healthy hair. But if you just want long stringy see through hair, all power to you lol. Thanks! =)

why did you cover your face i bet your very beautiful. im on my hair journey and just got a relaxer yesterday.your hair is gorgeous
SuperBirdA 1 year ago
@SuperBirdA I covered my face because most of these pictures were taken a long time ago. When i first joined Fotki, I saw a bunch of women on there blocking out their faces for privacy, so i thought that was normal to do *shrugs* Congrats on being on a hair journey and for the compliment!

i want to say... out of all of the hair journey vids id seen you have one of the best i really like how you did the measurements on the t-shirt that was hot. i never seen that b4. i hope you dont mind if i take that creative idea. so what is your goal how long do you want it? take care!!!
crystol616 1 year ago
@crystol616 Wow thank you! Yea you can use the tshirt idea. I actually learned about it from someone else so i guess im passing it on to you lol. I am thinking about selling them so stay tuned for that. And my goal for my hair is to reach BSL (brastrap length). Im not sure if i want to go any longer than that.
