A great version of this old Swedish hymn but I actually prefer it sung with less vibrato in a more scandinavian way. The lyrics gets lost in this version. I love the singing though.

@Dezzy23 no my love, just some humble perspective on my part. like some on on the list said, it's just a metaphor i use to show how G O D is unexplainable. HE just IS. When ever I write what I feel about HIM, i'm at a lost of words to use. The big and postering words seem so fake sometimes. so I try to think in the way the little people(kids ) do. I find the simplest words hold the most weight and easy for anybody to understand,even when the subject is so complicated.

Quite possibley the best, most sanctified version of this song I've ever heard. When she sings "HOW GREAT THOU ART!!!!!!!" I believe her. Mahalia conveys how great the Lord is...with that voice, that gift of God which she bestowed on her, and she inturn bestowed on us.

This is Mahalia at her best. She is "all business" here. Her business was conveying the gospel message. I've never heard this song performed more perfectly than her interpretation here. It is magnificent at least. It's divine at best.

She's the best...and thats the bottom line. There will NEVER be another like her, EVER. And I think thats why we treasure her the way we do because you know immediately when you hear her sing that you're listening to the very best. There is perfection and you can hear it when Mahalia Jackson sings.

I love Patti and Aretha, but I was amazed after listening to Mahalia after watching videos of both of them, how spiritual she sounds, so unique. Something different in her voice. Pattie's voice gives me chills, Aretha's fills my heart, Mahalia's moves my spirit. I can actually feel it.
