  • Everybody who copied this song will never live up tp the man who wrote it. 100% NF. Makes me sick to think so many in the world know this song and don't know where it comes from or that it's a "traditional" song, so very old. Ron Hynes wrote this song, first performed it and everyone is a poser :)

  • Daniel O'Donnell has recorded his own version of this song. I love the song and recommend one hear the version by Daniel. I like both, but am crazy about Daniel's version. It's on his latest CD called "Moon Over Ireland"; he calls it Sonny.

  • Please tell me, how does making your channel not available make any sense?

  • 4 peolple were looking for porn.

  • Great song, great performance. I love the lady's voice hard at the end when Ron walks away from the mic. : -) -- Sep. 11, 2011

  • 4 people need to learn what real music is .

  • Classic--thanks for posting.

  • Great song! Great vid. Thanks for posting.

And Paul Mills there playing with Ron -w what a treat!!

  • Awesome! 8o)

  • PLZ will somebody upload Ron Hynes doing Ticklecove Pond?

Never heard it done right by anybody else. It's gotta be him.

Nobody else can handle it at the right tempo, etc.,,

    THNX

  • should be our National Anthem ! lol, love it and Ron !

  • A National Treasure indeed that I am honoured to say I met. What an awesome guy!!

  • Awesome job, Ron! And Paul!

  • One of our best for sure . Great singer.

  • Ron is a great artist and i am glad to say he is from my hometown keep up the good work Ron buddy.

  • Who in heck DISliked this song?? Are they completely devoid of any musical taste? Ron Hynes is a national treasure!

  • @carollizc so true as I listen to Ron Hynes here from rural British Columbia. He is a national treasure!

  • It's funny, being from St. John's, and normally seeing Ron play in bars and walking down George Street, you sometimes take for granted how influential and incredible he is. Great.

  • The audience just takes the song away from Ron. Sometimes wonder what it must be like for a performer when the audience sings for him: gratifying, embarrassing...?

  • Listened to this song since I was a little kid, and haven't ever seen him do it live... Love this version. He's adorable.

  • What a great performer, what a great song, I love it. The first tim I ever heard this song was on October 17, 2009, when I heard Addison Locke sing it, but with an increased tempo...it's on here, youtube also, I heard Ron's only a couple of days ago, found it much slower, loved it too, but his interaction with the audience is fantastic and humorous I might add..

  • thumbs up for east coast music tradition.

  • Being from Charlottetown, this was one of the first songs I learned on guitar

  • aww my hometown!! I miss PEI so much this song reminds me of my papa he used to play and sing it for me everyday!!!

  • great song, makes this salt water cowboy homesick..great music ron.

  • The best song ever...light your lighter's!!!

  • throw you piece of shit camera in the garbage

  • i met him at the Conception Harbour Heritage festival. his home town,my home town too. he's an amazing performer! his crowd interaction is hilarious. truly one of the greatest canadian singer/songwriters.

  • I love this song. Fred Jorgensen (from The Navigators) does an awesome cover of it, but it's impossible to come close to the original.

  • <3 my dad showed me this songt alot time ago and i'm still in love wiht it <3

  • Love it... I've been singing along with it since I was a tot!

  • I love this song... It's one of my favourites... I connect so much with both Sonny, and his mother (or whoever's singing the chorus)

  • I'm not 100%, but I do believe the gentleman on the left is in fact Paul Mills (Curly Boy Stubbs). He produced his 2003 Release "Get Back Change". And on his right is Ed Woodsworth on the bass.

  • I love this video..I like Ron's interaction with the audience. It is so nivce to listen to Ron sign his own song, after listening to all the others who have recorded it. Ron wrote one hell of a fantastic song here and I like his version the best as well!!

  • Ron Hynes composes and also sings a good song. Sonny's Dream is very touching and worth many a repeat listen. This song stirs the soul to days gone by when life was like a kid in whose eyes the wide world held so many adventures, so much pain. Thank you Ron for this music.

  • A good song. many good songs

  • Anybody know who that is on the left? looks very familiar -- like dave burland...

  • Hard to believe you can't picture him.

    LOL

That is none other than, Randy Bachman

  • This song is great but it's his only good song. I seen him in Gander for the festival of flight concert. He went on after the Novacs and just completely killed the vibe. He was terrible. Not even the older people were enjoying him. He was awful. Thank God Hey Rosetta came out and helped restore the vibe.

  • you're an idiot, ron hynes was great at festival of flight

  • sorry if I offended you bud. But Everyone I was with thought he was terrible. And I had a chair set up and there were like 4-5 families from Gander behind me and I over heard them all talking, so I joined in on the conversation and they were all saying that same thing. They were saying he was terrible and was killing the place. He was singing too much new stuff. He was bad. real bad.

  • Ron hynes is a legend. he can still put on a great show

  • what was he collecting from the stool at the end? his picks maybe?

  • A song that will live forever

  • The best ever, Ron Hynes is a god.

  • Thanks for writing such a beautiful song Ron
