@thawdani potassium nitrate is not banned in Canada you can buy 13-0-46 a 20Kg bag costs 53$ at an agricultural supply stores. Ammonium nitrate is banned but you can still have it easily you buy 27-0-0 it is calcium ammonium nitrate it cost me 19$ for 20Kg you mix with hot water and let it settle out pour the water off and boil it filter it off and then either let it evaporate or put it in a freezer and you will have beautiful white crystals

beacuse maybe thoes bieng fertilizers, at the 'prairies' are the laws might be different, either way im positive that here in Ontario you need an ID and over 18, and pay a hazardous material fee per 100g of materiel.

So it is much cheaper to buy them as fertilizer and recrystalize them yourself. If you can not have them because you are under 18 then ask your parents to buy them for you.

@steveu235 no you dont understand, beacuse i have acsses to visa,a dn acsses to an adult to buy it for me, the problem is that when i do ask, the workers say that that product was banned fom the actual store (every store i go to) and even the poeple i know that work there (so they wouldnt be saying that jsut to repel me) so i think that in quebec the laws are diffrent, as they are in every province.
i have question i did this with fertilizer but is blue so when i put it on the cloth is still blue the kno3 is still there too. how do i get it to be clear kno3
there is a way better way of doing this if u dissolve it in water but instead of freezeing it put it in a ice bath with salt then drain of the water when the cyrstals are formed
@meganlordbalor might want to go back to chem class cause sulfur is practically insoluble in water.. so if there was sulfur in the solution it would cake up in the cloth .. ;o)
@MortenFS95 the rest was desolved into the water, kno3 has a low water solubility so when you put it in water and freeze it its low solubility causes it to come out of the solution at the lower temp.
@MortenFS95 you might as well use all the fertilizer cause cold water extraction doesnt really work well here... the video here was made by a amateur that has no knowledge of chemistry ...

its easy to recrystallize kno3.. well i saw a new method today (; the hardest to me is to get it in quanities.. i make it myself :/ anyways... you can just take your 'kno3 water' and then boil it till it steams and is really hot, then its best if you have small amount of water.. then you just let it sit at room temperature (it cools) and then crystals will form in the water

kno3 will end with large cristal form, and kno3 can't go pass the cloth fabric, but the another solution like sulfur, will pass the fabric.

@meganlordbalor might want to go back to chem class cause sulfur is practically insoluble in water.. so if there was sulfur in the solution it would cake up in the cloth .. ;o)

@antiswattt2 they did in wacto texas in america in 2007 i think. it was kno3/sugar isolated from fertilizer. mixed with mg. and sulfer
