Johnny Lee has fans of all ages but when he does shows in Florida it's always at the Florida sunshine Opry in Eustis and threes never anybody there under 40. If he did a show at midnight rodeo there would be a younger croud there.

I was a young man growing up in a farm in Havana, Cuba. I was able to listen to this music in my small radio. (I lived near the ocean, so I could tune country music radio station WQAM - Florida). With no knowledge of English I was able to learn these songs by heart. Now I have lived in Canada for 18 years and I am enjoying these beautiful videos. Country music touches people heart no matter color, race or background. It touched my heart way back when, and still does. Thank God for Country Music.
Definitely not a one-hit wonder. He had 5 songs go to #1 on the Country charts including my favorite "(You Can) Bet Your Heart On Me" from 1981. Please be nice with your posts or someone may ask you how many hits have you ever charted?
I know this is a surprise to those who know me. This is my favorite country song and it's beautiful. I met Johnny Lee's daughter a few months ago when I was out at a local pub. I told her to make sure to tell her dad how much I love this song.
What difference does it make what color you are? He's got a great voice. We can love the music -- don't have to love him --we don't even have to like him. But I love this song with his voice. I love ACDC, too.

I plan on getting married to thus song, or look what you've done to me. I first saw this on urban cowboy. My mom used to make us watch it when I was younger. I never used to like the movie because I didn't understand what was going on but I love the music. (born and raised Texan.)
Back in the day. In Augusta Ga, the top Radio was WGUS. Casey Jenkins was the GM. He ruled the roost. He called the local shots. At that time, live was real in Augusta. Carol Mathews, Bill Findley, Helen Coffey, Ms Lynn Houston, Robbie Benson, and Johnny Clarke. Anything Ms Houston did was great. Helen, Jose G. Bill, Statue of A Fool. Robbie, Hey I' m the best. LOL Carrol Mathews" Midnight Choir" Johnny Clarke, Anything he did was great. I miss the real Augusta.
@chicago618 Modern day country music is great. It hasn't changed much in all it's years it's the only music ever where the people singing have to know HOW to sing.
@MrRebel1011 I guess I would respectfully disagree. Country from my perspective has most certainly changed. You cant convince me that what Johnny Lee, Charlie Pride, Conway Twitty Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gale, etc. sung is what passes off as country today. There is a world of difference. Todays country is geared more to the young pop Mtv crowd. Im not saying everything is bad about todays country, but overall yesterdays country is far closer to what I would call authentic country. Just my opinion.
@chicago618 Okay. Well I can see where you come from. But I don't think it's taken a turn for the worst. I do hate how everyone is taken a liken to country music and act as if Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus are great country singers. But there are great ones who are still at the top.
girlfriend don't feel bad or funny! I'm black and not only do i love this song but every other country one i can find too! like you said, good music is good music
My mom worked as a shoe shiner @ Midnight Rodeo in San Antonio for years. She gave him a shine. She crossed paths with alot of big names, Garth Brooks, Collin Raye, Vince Gill and even George Strait. She said by far he was the most genuinely nice guy she had ever met out there. He gave her a $100 tip, a rose and a singed cassette(15 years ago). FYI- George Strait= "Cocky Little A**Hole!
saw him twice in concert once in 05 then again in 06. He is so badass and can outdrink anyone I ever met and even when a concert is over he still loves playin.
@JakeR0d31 Your right! I worked for Johnny and then booked him for a show at a theater I ran. He invited all 500 people in the audience over to the local bar afterwards where he poured and drank copious amounts of alchohol. He's a great guy. I always thought it would have been a good fit to have him in Gilley's theater in Branson, but for some reason Mickey wasn't to freindly with him and didn't seem to care if he was around. Johnny is a great guy.
when Urban Cowboy came out, Johnny was a featured performer in Gilley's house band. Became a household name. That s how big CowBoy was. Johnny was on his way. @dannyd1572 hes doing great. he was telling me how hes kid got a scholorship for golf and hes has mad cause he doesnt want to go to college he wants to spend time with music and his band. but hes not to mad cause hes following in his dads foots steps haha
@hunterscool111 Oh wow...I remember JR hanging around the theater when Johnny worked there. Johnn's wife who later committed suicide, used to have JR playing in the lobby all the time. That was 1996. He would have to be in his early 20's by now I'm guessing. Johnny back in Branson?
Well, I´m from Mexico and I absolutely love this song. Love it since I saw Urban Cowboy when I was 11 years old. My dad even took us to Gilley´s one summer while vacationing in Houston, Tx. got a chance there to ride the mechanic bull for the first time... what a time!
This is CLASS with a capital C!!! I was a kid of the 60's and a Beatle fanatic and yet this guy really captures my attention. Guys like this are gifted.
You either have it or you don't--they ain't no pretending in this area. These half wits, no talents, and musical dropouts you see dancing all over stage today are an insult to world class musicians like this. Thanks Johnny for these
songs as it gave me an appreciation for the country side of music I was not into in my early years. Kenn
Love this song this is one of those songs that it don't matter where your at when you hear it you'll always remember it and what you were doing when you first heard it.

@manoletto33 I feel you..I'm purteo rican/colombian and my children are black. My oldest daughter is 17. @ about 10 she started liking country music and was made fun of by friends/family. I assured her that there ARE black country singers..take Charlie Pride for instance. She now proudly tells everyone that she LOVES country music and she gets it from her mom's side of the family!! My younger ones have grown up listening to it also and sing along with the best of them! This is my favorite!!
I used to work for Johnny in Branson. I moved up to Illinois and got him booked at a place. Just a great guy. Down to earth. What you see is what you get. Very underrated singer.

Can't you count? It took me one hour, Duh! You didn't have to write that one up to tell me how long! You should've looked at the time next to our names! Double DUH!! And finally, my name is Bruno...NOT cunt face! Triple DUH!!!
I got this on cassette somewhere. Yeah with all of my other stuff, as George Carlin says we buy so much stuff we have to buy a bigger house just to store it and buy more stuff. Of course, his language was not exactly mine. LOL good song.
this man is the greatest of all the country singers, I think. Please some one post his Stand by Me from the Urban Cowboy. This is the best this song has ever been done. Please post it soon.
Well I spent a lifetime looking for you Single bars and good time lovers are never true Playing a fool's game Hoping to win And telling those sweet lies And losing again I was looking for love in all the wrong places Looking for love in too many faces Searching their eyes or looking for traces of What I'm dreaming of Hoping to find a friend and a lover

I got this on cassette somewhere. Yeah with all of my other stuff, as George Carlin says we buy so much stuff we have to buy a bigger house just to store it and buy more stuff. Of course, his language was not exactly mine. LOL good song.
