  • love 2:00 stiff enough :D

  • Obviously you can't detune and retune your edges every time you switch from jibb to pow, so what damage does it do if I just keep my edges good all the time, regardless of jibb practice. I have the 2011 Machete as of tonight :P

  • @Peaceryder You'll probably be like most of us and find a good mix of sharp and detuned edges. If it's really catchy take down the edges a bit, if it doesn't seem to hold anything then sharpen em up a little.

If you take it to a shop make sure you give them feedback when you return. A long time ago, when I ran a snowboard shop I knew the preferences for all of our regular customers.

Have fun and make sure you tell what you think of it.

  • I've just got the 2011/12 Ride Machete and I've bought Union Forces 2011/12, do you think these are going to be a good match? I can take them back if not so if you could let me know that'd be a great help. I also bought the 158, I'm 6 foot 1 and 155 lbs, with boot size UK 9.5. Is this the right choice do you think? Thanks for any help

  • @ijustshotmarvin You'll probably love the set-up, but are they a good match? Depends on what you want to do. The Force are super comfy with great straps, but they are a 7/10, so a little stiff for such a playful board as the Machete. If you're gonna do all mountain riding I say keep the set-up. If you're going to be in the park more and do some more spins, get the Union Contact Pro bindings. They're more like a 5/10. Good luck.

  • @BoardInsiders Sick man, I'm doing a season and I spend time all around the mountain generally anyway, so I'm keeping the setup. I wouldn't spend enough time just in the park to justify a more park orientated binding. Just tried it out in a snowdome, can't wait to hit the mountain now!! Wooooooop

  • @ijustshotmarvin I just looked up what the SnowDome was and decided we need one in Seattle. Our only option to board in the fall while Whistler and Mt Hood are closed is to hike Mt Rainier.

  • @BoardInsiders Well trust me, I'd much prefer to be out there. Living in England makes it hard to get the white stuff on a regular basis, and even when we do there aint many places close by that can sort us out!

  • @attackman I am the same as you and I ride a 155. It really depends whether u like the park or all-mountain or carving down those steep runs. It also depends if you are still growing or not (which I assume you are) If you are add an extra cm for every 15 lbs or so you expect to gain. Height doesn't matter as much when it comes down to only an inch or two, but a good quick method would be to have it near your mouth in length or use the snowboard size calculator at frostyrider(dot)com

  • if i were to get this, what size do you recommend? im 5'10" 130 lbs. size 10.5-11 boots.

  • @attackman2008 158cm

  • Hey, I've just bought a 2011 machete and was wondering if its good to go out of the box or do I need to get it tuned or something? thanks

  • @gixxerich Every time I get the honor of cracking open the plastic of a new board and go shred, I think myself, "Why was I too lazy not to wax this last night?" Over the last several years the quality of the "factory wax" has gone down, but the edge tunes have gotten better.

Back to the answer: Wax it. Detune it if you're jibbing otherwise it should have a good all-mtn/freestyle edge tune.

  • @BoardInsiders thanks for the reply

  • is this really the best snowboard?

  • Im thinking about buying this board but not really sure what bindings to get with it. COuld u recomend some?

  • @kingredskin99 Grab your boots and head down to you local shop and try them on.

I like Flux, Ride, K2, Rome and some Burtons.

If you like the rear entry bindings, check out the new GNUs.

  • arrgh I really can't decide between the Ride Machete and the Bataleon evil twin classic. Considering I don't go to the park so much, which board would you recommend ?

  • @MaRioSlut I suggest getting the new Evil Twin. It got our highest Shred Cred ever. -- One thing that everyone should know about TBT is that it's not for everyone though. If you tend to jump off your edges, (like Board Insider Devin) than TBT feels like it has less pop.

Check out our Bataleon Rocker video and listen carefully to what Devin says.

  • @MaRioSlut

I reviewed the '10 Evil Twin with BoardInsiders 8/9 season and bought it. I love it. I also have a Machete though, haha. I pretty much only ride the ET in the park though, and the Machete everywhere else. Machete is a quiver-killer, ET is a trick stick. Both are legit.

  • Does Snowboard insider have a 2011 Ride Machete review video out?

  • Heyy I got a question, i´m thinking about buying it and I need a advice :) can you quickly compare this one and LIB with banana skate tech. thx a lot

  • @TomashhhG The Ride Machete and Lib Tech Skate Banana are two of my favorite boards. With both of them you can size down 2-3 cm if you are coming from a regular (positive) camber board.

They are similar but the Machete has more pop and the Skate Banana is softer for better presses. Also the Lib has Magne-traction (MTX) which is 7 contact points on each edge making for better grip on the ice. Either way you won't go wrong.

  • @BoardInsiders thx for reaction, i´m gonna buy that bannan TRS LIB board .))

  • does this board fit a size 14 boot? I ride a Burton canyon 162 wide and i was wondering if it was the same width??? i need help!!

  • @MrLivefortheride 26.5 cm is most likely the waist width of your Canyon. Grab a measuring tape and make sure. .

The Ride Machete wide comes in at 26.2 cm for the 161 and 26.3 for the 164. .3 cm is not a big difference but it's could mean a little heel or toe drag. .

If it's in the budget check out new boots. The footprints get small every year, so on the outside a new size 14 is the size of a 12 from 4 years ago. That would make .3 cm seem like the nothing that it is.

  • free ride boards, bindings, boots ext.! go to my chanel look at my comments and the comments are from me get the link sighn up it literly takes 3 minutes win free ride stuff!

  • Does anybody know if the wide version of the machete rides as nice?

  • people i need advice, want to start snowboarding soon, so i need you opinion about what deck to buy...Im 192 tall and 45 shoes size, so what i need is something between normal and medium speed drive bcs im begynner ...what you suggests ...ty a lot..

  • @bezzee12 Budget?

  • 450 - 500 $

  • @bezzee12 My conversion says you have a US 11.5 boot and your 6'3". First thing you'll want to do is make sure you get a wide or mid/wide snowboard. --- I'll have to finish the rest of this post on our site, under the Blogs tab, for lack of room here.

Should be up in a little bit.

  • Ty a lot for helping..

  • Thanks a bunch for the review, it seems like nobody has anything bad to say about this deck. I'll be picking up one this weekend and will comment how it goes. THANKS AGAIN!

  • LOVE THIS BOARD !! Its a real swiss army knife and def ups whatever your rank is a notch.
