It's always been my favorite carol and this version my absolute favorite. When I was a child, our church choir used to sing this acapella at the end of the Christmas Eve candlelight service. It was sung in the hallway leading from the choir room to the sanctuary with the door ajar. It still gives me goosebumps to hear it performed as it was intended to be heard, imitating the sound of church bells wafting across the countryside on a wintery Christmas Eve. Thanks again and Merry Christmas!
It took me like 15min to find this version. I can't imagine why this wouldn't be the first one to come up. It's the best, hands down. I've always wanted to learn the lyrics and when I finally looked them up I couldn't find the right version! Lol, thanks for posting it :)
Carol of the Bells" (also known as the "Ukrainian Bell Carol") is a Christmas song originally composed by Mykola Dmytrovych Leontovych based on a Ukrainian New Years chant known as "Shchedryk" and adapted into English by Peter Wilhousky. The song is based on a traditional folk chant whose language was thought to have magical properties and to be of prehistoric origins and was associated with the coming New Year in Ukraine before the introduction of Christianity

Nobody knows it, but it's actually a Ukrainian folk song! If you want to hear the original version look for "CHARIVNA" on Youtube

There is no need of lyrics - american or ucrainian. Damn it, I can feel the chill up my spine only listening to the bells.
