SA is part of the world's 30 richest economies by GDP, according to World Bank and IMF (bigger than Ireland, New Zealand, Finland and certainly the biggest in Africa).
Johannesburg Stock Exchange=16th largest in the world.
SA economy is one of the few in the world to exit recession quicker.
I'm not saying SA is the best country ever, but i am saying the country is progressing. Yes there is crime, poverty and some ppl still have no access to basic social services but there is LOTS of progress.

The majority of the people now have access to basic social services, water housing, land, jobs, healthcare. These were only for 10% of the population under apartheid.
There were also white people who suffered under apartheid not only blacks.

Skeetereze... NO one FORCES the Europeans and Americans to take "these people" as you call them. Most of them are probably more educated than you could ever be. Don't talk in such a derogatory manner about people who bleed the same blood you do... A little more empathy wouldn't hurt...

did you do this? ive done this... i lived in a gehtto in detroit for 1 year and my oppinion is that ur american sytem is a failure. it suppresses the minorities and does nothing for them. bianca, think of how to be black or hispanic or whatever... u would freak out too! and now to the sub-humans: remember: the first humans has been black. so ur ancestors has been black too. jesus was brown or black but not white. bad times for racists...

Are black Detroiters being set on fire? The poorest black Detroiter lives better and in more safety than the crispy black foreigner in South Africa. And Detroit is run pre-dominantly by black Democrats. Sounds like a utopia to me. I heard the Kennedy's are gonna move there.

Typical African mentality of solving issues with violence and aggression.The scenes in the report evoke memories of Rwanda and the Somalia civil war. South Africa really needs to eradicate this type of behaviour, or say goodbye to the 2010 World Cup.

Is it bad in a lot of African countries now? Yes. Is the violence and internal problems unique? No. Just remember, Black Africans don't see themselves as one big monolithic mass. There are literal hundreds, if not thousands, of different ethnic and linguistically distinct groups who have their own separate cultural and tribal identities. And, unfortunately, they all don't get along. They never have been unified because they are all black and they never all will.

So ShumbaRules, you are saying that there are no differences between the people of Sub-Saharan Africa? I mean to an outsider or someone with an agenda black is black and you will hear the statement "they all look the same to me." But do you really think there is no cultural, ethnic, religious, historical and tribal difference from the region covering Cameroon to SA? Please explain, what you mean.

gregwi562 :The cultural difference is not big,if you find out about the BANTU migration you will realize the big historical differences that greatly divides these countries is mainly Arab influence and European Colonization,linguistically I speak 5 different African languages just like Indo European languages the Bantu languages share similar vocabulary and sentence construction.
Its the same as all Caucasians in America did not originate from England but the bottom line is they are all European

Well then I hope you are equally against all regional wars and conflicts. For example, the longstanding animosities and conflicts in the Balkans for one.
My point simply was you cannot explain away conflicts in Africa as primitive black on black violence just as you would not explain away a conflict in Europe or any other place as white on white violence. Every place has its on history of conflicts and ethnic and sectarian rivalries.
And, btw, don't take this as a justification for this riot.

Sadly, News the black African will ALWAYS blame the white. I said this 30 years ago when discussing the black inability for self rule in Africa. At the time my sister lived and worked in Ghana, se was married there. She and her husband and two grown sons frequently visit there and Darfur and Rwanda trying to bring in meds and aid. They live in constant fear. BUT the blacks continue to do NOTHING to help their own, they are ALL about corruption and power. SA has been gone! It is Zimbabwe.

Give it up. We will never agree on this. We just are on different sides and I am not budging from where I stand. You are handicapped because you only see and understand the world from a racially-tinged perspective. This is evident because you say that corruption, incompetence, laziness and inaction are the results of black self-rule. While Africa is way more than its share of dysfunctional states, linking this to race is just a sign of mental and intellectual laziness. There is more to the story

Oh okay...it's just gotten progressively worse for 30 years in EVERY state where there is black "rule" But, of course I am a racist, right? The FACT that what I opine is reality and not a form of intellectual laziness ONLY proves that point. What would YOU link it to? I don't know if you are racist or not, nor do I have the right to say so when I don't know you. But some of your statements lead me to believe that you may be or that your opinions are very misinformed.
Human beings have been killing each other for stupid reasons for years for a variety of stupid reasons. Whites have killed other whites, blacks have killed other blacks, Asians have killed other Asians, etc...And in every case those who have killed have tried to justify why they killed others.
