  • In re comments about cartoons: The producers of these cartoons recognize great music when they hear it. So they simply design a cartoon around it and use it free of charge. Geeze, what could be more simple. Dressed as a rocker or not this guy is a great performer.

  • Thumbs up if you didn't come here from some gay cartoon.

  • Holy Shit! I remember 5:50-10 from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, in the Ink and Paint Club scene! :D and from Bugs and Tom and Jerry of course! :P

  • All i can think of is "Rhapsody Rabbit" with Bugs Bunny, :P Great playing!

  • 'hax'

  • He reminds me of Leon.

    From FF6.

  • INSANE!!

  • <3

  • nice!

  • I personally liked it when Bugs played this.

  • Tom and Jerry cartoon (The Cat Concerto) that brings me here :) who is same?

  • Bravo! A fantastic performance, and practically perfect. Full of feeling and gusto.

  • i like how at 2:51 he pulls his hands up to his face ^_______^

he looks like a little mouse

  • Wonderful performance !!!

  • Cool!!!!!!

  • why he is dressing like a rocker

  • @Bewildrechtt

cos that's the trend - check

    Vanessa Mae for example.

I live in the UK for 10 years and I have

an impression that Brits can't take any serious art

without sweetening it with some pop-py icing...

  • @Bewildrechtt he thinks he is cool

  • His version is good but for anyone saying Jung Lin's version is the worst ...Wow..But as some people here have said and rightfully it's a matter of taste. I personally prefer Jung Lin.

  • If you liked this... listen to Horowitz's performance. It's so much more lively and exciting!

  • Sempre que venho ver este vídeo mais fico apaixonada por esta música, por este pianista, por esta arte! Maksim Mrvica meu amado, te amo mais e mais!

  • PIANO!!!!

  • Rock on

  • WoW I loveee this perfomancee, I listen it seven or eight times a day

  • He goes crazy when he plays.

  • my butt will hurt after playing this

  • @gustjr13 hahahahahahahahahaha lol that comment made my night XD

  • he looks like adam lambert without the make up

  • Listen to Moro Benedetto and the balance of crescendos and pianos of his play. There is the soul of this piece. Also it has a certain personality at the holding of 1/4-s and 1/2-s. Mrvica plays with great sensuality and finds the attitude of this composition it's only a very sensitive music. Gosh I feel very inappropriate here to make opinions on this. I enjoyed it.....veni, vidi...viszlat.

  • 4:55

    He came.

  • I mean he makes faces he's not acting when he makes faces .

  • He's not acting he loves music...I admire him ...

  • My god I love this man so bad....

  • He plays near to perfect but there are inaccuracies in playing. In my opinion there's not enough emotions in some places.

  • He's so amazing. <3 I love him.

  • On 240p it still sounds perfect, that's what great music does... :)

  • Tak tomu říkám genialita. Skutečná a opravdová, protože rozdává a tvoří něco, co naplňuje naše srdce dobrem, krásou a emocemi. Tedy to má velkou cenu. A k těm jeho rukám, potažených kůží, bych se nejradši sklonila a políbila je :-).

  • I have never seen this performance on my Maskim Mrvica Piano Player Album.

  • how can he play all this without a music sheet??? explanation plz.:

  • @Romangdi He memorized it? It's actually really easy to memorize long pieces, especially if you're playing them over and over again to get them perfect.

  • @Romangdi

What's the problem? Don't you know that musicians can play without music sheet - from memory?

  • Inutiles he incultas 621people ya muchos quisieramos estar a ese nivel que delicia escuchas esto ....

  • LIKE IN TOM AND JERRY , AHHAHAH

  • i used to think this guy was just a gimmick, couldnt actually play the instrument. my god i was wrong... o_O

  • Great playing... I see Chris Angel is at it again, was waiting to see the piano ripe into two pieces somewhere near the end.

  • people can say what they want...

but, here is when he shows his real talent...

    He is not the best!

but better than many others in frack!

    ;)

  • i wish i could play like him!

  • INCREDIBLE !

  • this man..is..incredible!

  • it looks like he is making love with the piano!

  • Chris Angel and Justin Bieber had a baby who played the piano

  • idk but i like the combination of this music and this hairstyling,,xD

  • He dresses up as if for a rock concert but instead, he played the grand piano at a concert :D

  • i want to say something about this performance ,but i have no idea what,he left me spechless....

  • Best version on the net, don't care what other people say. All the others: Lang Lang, Horowitz etc.. are also amazing too. But this guy puts so much more into it.

  • @jlealanders this is the latest version I heard of this song, and I agree with you... then I remember that this is the version that it's most similar to tom and jerry's version, guess that was the reason we think this one it's better hahaha

  • @rallasclandestinas good point but I never thought about it being close to tom & jerry. If you follow the actual sheet music along with him playing you can see he is playing it spot on. I am half-way through the lassan myself; finding the third page the hardest so I skipped that page for now hehe. I do play this as a duet with my piano teacher which rocks but its in a different key.

  • @jlealanders cool! I wish I could play the piano, recently I am listening this kind of music, I have to say I just loved it! why don't you show us how you play this song with your piano teacher? would love to watch it and listen

  • "Look! One hand! No hands!"

  • bugs bunny plays the best.

  • Got here because of Tom and Jerry

  • This must be his second attempt..he's already lost his sleeves =D

  • Drama queen :)

  • When I learn to play this, life is complete

I might as well walk in to the ocean. There's nothing left to accomplish.

  • Maksim wins musicality-wise from Lang Lang, but Lang Lang wins in interpretive dance

  • could someone please tell me where I can get a copy of this performance for my mp3 player? I could not find it available on the Maksim website.

  • TOM AND JERRY!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thumb up if you listen this in one episode of Tom & Jerry <3

  • @RushToRussia Not Tom and Jerry, but I did listen to Bugs Bunny!

  • @RushToRussia Cat Concerto? How can i forget it????

  • @Beaderella Ya,that was a very good one =)

  • FAKE!! Jerry is playing this from inside the piano xD

  • Comment removed

  • @MrLozanovski he in one of the best piano players in the world . -.- "

  • @MrLozanovski

Yes, I also think that this is a fake ;-)

Jerry has to start here at 8:07 !!!

A really cute video. I like it a lot :D

Search under: "hungarian rhapsody tom and jerry"

  • i NEED to learn how to play that!

  • My music teacher said he had been one of the worst students at the Academy (not that I have anything against him)

  • I think I just fell in love...

  • @famousvim26 im sorry he...............MARIED

  • @TheMenoflego1 I still love him =P Who cares, I probably wouldn't meet him in the first place :P

  • People who are saying things like; sucked. way to fast. no emotion, he looks gay. etc etc etc etc. are forgetting one critical thing. The people came to see HIM play, he didn't go there to play the version YOU like. He is a musician and will always do what feels right for him.

  • i heard Lang Lang's, and his interpretation is great, but Maksim's interpretation is cool too. Music on heaven should be like this. And for those who think fast is good, that is just nonsense. listen and feel it by your heart and soul not only by 2 ears for god's sake!!!!!

  • @banglinh222 who gives a crap what u think..if u dont like his style why the hell are u here anyway??!

  • @jokersbitch u fucking stupid or what? what i said was Maksim's interpretation is awesome and whoever thinks playing fast like Langlang is better is stupid, because every interpretation has its own beauty. Read carefully before making a comment

  • that's his interpretation fool!!!

you can't compared the music, if you're a musician you must be understand about this!! shit!!

  • Recent studies have shown that people make evaluations based on implict associations. It's obvious that people judge him for his general style/look, and if that judging is negative so will be the evaluation of his playing skills. Consciously you don't really know you do it.

I don't think he lacks musical phrasing, and still i can't overlook his non-conformism to the archaic traditional values of classical music. Beware of your mental processes before making a judgement.

  • how come he looks like a rocker punk stoned gay person but he is so awesome? :O

  • i like this music it is good and relaxing

  • 612 will like justin bieber

  • Tom (from Tom and Jerry ) plays that music better then any pianist :D :D :D :D

  • WHO THE FUCK WOULD EVER DISLIKE THIS VIDEO....fucking morons

  • I've listened to Horowitz, Jung Lin, Victor Borge, David Helfgott, Lang Lang and many others playing this piece, but Maksim's version is still my favourite by far. It's just a matter of taste.

  • @matheuspa42 You're right! Music is like food.

  • @matheuspa42 yea, im on your side! he pleys it soft and gentle! not to fast, but wit that touch that kreate a great piec of music!

  • @matheuspa42

Jung Lin's version is the worst.

  • @matheuspa42 Hamelin?

  • @matheuspa42 Totally agree !!

  • @matheuspa42 His version reminds me more of the old tom and jerry version than any other ive heard. (it is my favorite though)

  • @matheuspa42 try Valentina Lisitsa

  • @matheuspa42

Music is subjective, so I agree that it is a matter of taste. But technically, and even emotionally, this version is amazing. Lang Lang's version sounds like somebody competing on a low budget reality show who learned the music in a week. It's really awful.

  • He is the Steve Vai of Pianists.

  • I don't care how this guy dresses, neither do I care about the facial expressions he makes whilst he plays. He has talent. I don't know why you guys cannot see it.

  • This is one of my favorite pieces, but it's one that I could NEVER play in front of anyone. I can hardly play anything in front of people, but especially a long and complex piece like this, subject to that much more scrutiny. I don't get how some people LOVE and CRAVE attention, while people like me run and hide from it, even if it's positive attention.

  • JUST AMAZING

  • 8,169 likes and 608 dislikes. problem haters?

  • this version is the best I've heard, ok I've only heard maybe 5 version including tom and jerrys, but the emotion is captured just right i think....

  • Definitely my favourite version of this masterpiece. Fantastic interpretation, so much emotion, so much dynamics. Bravo!

  • I don´t get you guys. Clearly this is the best version on youtube. This is the only one who plays the keys correct, and the only one who plays with a feeling of Love + magic.

  • @mortenkul Marc-André Hamelin's version is more note perfect and musically far more mature.

  • I need a [PLAY FOREVER] button on youtube.

  • non of yall trolls can do 5% of what he did so SHUT THE FUCK UP and enjoy the music or GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE

  • Don't care what people say. For a non-musician like me, I love his play. And it's good to mix between classical music with contemporary one.

  • You just don't need other instruments when you have a piano. Best instrument ever!!!

  • Respect to the lad, this is bloody fantastic (as is all the rest of his stuff). Playing a grand piano in the Roundhouse with the tradition that the Roundhouse has is brave, and I've nothing but respect for it.

The only one to top this Bugs Bunny and I'm so happy it's linked on the right hand side.

  • if you consider urself a musician and you get annoyed by his clothes Im 90% you just another moron watching someone playing a piano well - period - .

Not to mention ur jealousy .

  • everyone making a bad comment: u just cant tolerate his dress style. You are the epople who make classical music look boring, as because of traditionalism you cannot tolerate someone who is young and vibrant playing your favourite pieces...

  • @TheAaronZo I dont have a problem with wearing casual clothing at a piano concert. I actually dont care for the fomalness either, but i dont like the style of clothing he chose. I find it annoying. but that isnt my place to say what people should dress like but I am Entitled to an opinion. Regardless he is an amazing Pianist. And I for one am jealous.

  • it doesnt matter what hes wearing, its not what its about: its about the music and if you dont like it watch something else

  • I checked all the other versions i found on youtube.. and this is my favorite.. no matter what you say.

  • delius alkan is an idiot

  • This man crossed a war-torn country to play piano, are you seriously judging him by what he wears and how he looks? He has passion in all his pieces and puts his heart into it. If you think you can do better then post yourself playing it and stop judging just because you think you know it all.

  • My dad walked into the room listened for a while and said: This is simply not the Liszt it should be. No passion.

  • hot emo guy playing piano...my dream

  • Are you asshats seriously talking about attire?

  • I love how he sings althought there are no lyrics..

  • Once a pianist refuses to dress properly for a performance such as this, they've lost my respect -sigh-

  • how long should one practice to play such a song? o.O

  • @timoney0 10 years o.0

  • Is it me or did he made a little mistake after 5:25 ?

  • @Ragtime85 Its you.

  • @Ragtime85 yes he did. This classical pieces is my all time favorite from Franz Liszt so I could sense the wrong tunes. But in this play is the mistake kind of small one :D

  • @Ragtime85 I'm not sure what you're talking about, but I'm pretty sure that it's part of the song.

  • Comment removed

  • What the hell are those things doing on his hands?!

  • well played

  • I think he plays this piece in a very different style than others, if I may say so. And for me it's boring to hear twenty million different pianists playing the same piece exactly like. I think this version is awesome. The playfulness is definately there for my sake.

  • i like this version a lot it has a lot of virtuossism (if it's spelled like that) and the sound of the keys and phrases are very clear for me. i reLLY enjoy this piece despite of the player

  • All these stupid argumentative comments ruin the music. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one. Shut up and listen.

  • ok, I understand... at the beginning, I was also like uhh what is that piece of shit. But, the problem is trully the "midi"-like sound of this shitty piano. And obviously, it's "flat" or whatever.

  • @Albertolo1928 This piano sounds closer to the kind of piano that Liszt owned than most modern pianos.

  • Hasn't anyone heard of "If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all"? Also, if you don't like the piece, then go watch another version.

  • Hasn't anyone heard of "If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all"?

  • @DeliusAlkan so im guessing u could do better then him. is that right? cause i sure as hell know they wouldnt have put this in tom and fucking jerry if it was crap. and his suit expressed himself, which he has every right to do. one more thing, pure stupidy is not shown here, but in ur comment. if i were u i wouldnt go about insulting people that r way better than u will ever be. by the way, im 13 and ur prob some 30-year-old living with his mom, is that right?

  • its not equalized properly. the engineers more than likely dont know anything about piano and equalized everything on the same level, making his playing sound boring and MIDI-like. i doubt it really sounds like this live

  • I think it is too easy for the many veiwers to harshly critique this pianist. They are put off by his hair and clothes, possibly even his youth... I will admit this isnt the most powerful interpretation of this piece, but it is good none the less.To say he plays "flat" is rude. I feel his emotion in this work and i think it is beautiful. I enjoy most of Maksim Mrvica he is a Very talented pianist, virtuoso? no.. Talented yes!

  • @ssjhobbes talented, i'll agree. however, he lacks respect for the proper attire for such a performance, which for me, has lost him my respect

  • @DeliusAlkan The suit doesn't make the pianist so why mention his cloths? And if you say he play without emotion, then I guess that you haven't heard a piece played without emotion.

  • @MrChokladeMan This young man would respect the music and composer by wearing a suit--instead of looking like he's headed for a grundge concert. He respects by playing well, that I can say.

  • @windstorm1000 like i said, cloths doesn't matter. Listen instead of watch

  • Le plus singulier est qu'il joue à la perfection...

  • @DeliusAlkan I don't understand how you can say this performance is flat and boring. It blows me away every time I watch it!

  • @DeliusAlkan ok lets see you do it

  • wonderful.

I'm sure that Liszt wanted it.

  • Thumbs up if u r looking this on 2011

  • Thumbs up if u r looking this on 2011

  • Deliusalkan, hasn't got a clue. Classic case of the emporers clothes.

I bet he can't play a single nite yet thinks he's qualified to criticise.

    Complete mug

  • @DeliusAlkan I feel you're being quite harsh, I say give the man credit, do you think there are many who would even try to listen to this now a days? and you're opinion I find to be quite biased.

  • Actually one of the more fluid and gracefull performances of this peice I've heard. His version does not garble the more caotic parts; nearly all notes can be heard clearly which is the most dificult aspect of playing the piano solo of this song IMO. His visual presentation is secondary to what is most important - the musical output.

  • Actually one of the more fluid and gracefull performances of this peice I've heard. His presentation does not garble the more caotic parts - nearly all notes can be heard clearly which is the most dificult aspect of the song IMO.

  • I really don't understand it...

if u don't like maksim's version, then just hear the original and leave this alone...

there are people who like this version more, y'know

musics are not only classic, and maksim himself doesn't call this pure classic ~~

  • @Mattyb2001uk I agree with delius... and if I'm correct about the Alkan in his name, he knows what he is talking about.. I don't really like this version either.

  • Poser

  • @DeliusAlkan Would like to see you play this piece of art, Mr I can't play shit so I talk shit

  • @DeliusAlkan I think your a truly untalented critic. Music is what you make out of it and its up to him to play how he wants. What I think is stupid is you saying this is an insult to anyone. You obviously don't understand what it is to learn an instrument and its sounds. It takes more time to make your own interpretation than to just play it like everyone else besides what would music be if everyone played something exactly the same.?

  • from 7:04 to 7:17 is so bad but not all of it ...also you can't blame the guy we all know the work of franz liszt is the most hardest to play. and the most hardest one is No. 5, “Feux Follets.”

  • Franz Liszt is a mad genius.

  • deliusAlkan is a twat!

    lol

    massive masiive mug

  • Yea it does actually does sound flat, his face looks rather odd also.

Flat as in not, the same exictment I would get from hearing the original piece.

It is simply not good. Plus the whole suit contradicts what classical music stands for: Soothing, Superioity and charm. NOT some rebellious, unorganized, piece of noise.

When you call yourself a pianst, there is a certain name you carry when you play the music. He most certainly would not represent Franz Liszt (or any one for that matter).

  • @Deathnvile Charm, yes, soothing, yes, superiority?? What planet are you from. No music should be considered superior or inferior to one another. Music is objective, taste is subjective. Liszt did not have "superiority" in mind when writing a beautiful piano piece, he wrote on the staff what was in his heart, nothing more, and that is the mark of a true musician.

  • @Mattyb2001uk flat as in deflated.i really dont dig this guy either, not because he doesnt play it well....but because of his stupid getup and his facial expressions,he tries too hard.there is something missing in his playing of it though....cant quite place it....maybe the spacing between the movements

  • @andrewdeangelo1 Liszt himself got shit for making facial expressions in his performances...although I imagine Liszt himself having more of a shit-eating, absolutely maniacal grin the entire time...
