  • My son has a Glock 19 and absolutely loves it, i've shot it and it's a nice pistol, but doesn't really fit my hand. I bought a Walther PPQ in .40 S&W because it fits my hand perfectly, points perfectly, and is 100% reliable (so far, heh) Great video Sturm, keep up the exemplary work.

  • How much did u pay to have fail zero done?

  • @Vergon3256 I bought it already done. It's called an EXO Glock, made by Talon.

  • I was wondering if you have had any feed problems with hollowpoint on your Kahr 9mm? I ended up using Golden Sabre in it but am still looking.

  • Very good observation, regarding the Beretta incidental safety engagement can be resolved with either converting the pistol to a "G" version(i.e. decocker only) or buying it that way.

  • Just want to clarify, the EXO treated G19 came with all original stuff from Glock (the 3 mags, holster, etc) correct?

  • this was 10 minutes of my life wasted, seriously everything you said was common sense.

  • You have the stainless slide Glock's. I just bought a Glock 23 with that finish on it. I was mesmerized by how totally cool it feels. And the barrel seems to have all the edges taken off of it. It is really a good shooting gun. I had a Glock 26, but it just did not fit me at all, one size up and they fit great. I have a Kimber ultra carry II and a Walther PPQ. Out of all of my guns, the one I know that will not fail, is the Glock. That in itself tells me why every cop that I see has one.

  • @Sturmgewehre, thank god you arnt someone that revoles around a specific brand. I revole around specific types. any well made gun with the browning style dropped barrel. mainly of course the 1911.

  • Personaly i prefere my Beretta 92FS 9mm with Federal Hydroshock Hallow Points

  • Gold Dots are my favorite. About your G19. You use to have a video I can't find anymore about it pertaining to it's EXO finish. I liked the sights and can't remember which ones they were.

  • a little off topic but on your 6004 holster i see a knife and was wondering what make it is and how you mounted it to your holster.

  • What sights are on that beast? Where did you get them?

  • Am I missing something here? The 19 and 17 you had in the video ,did they have stainless steel slides? If you don't mind, where did you purchase them?

  • @MeditationDub They are EXO Glocks. That means they have been treated with Nickel Boron by a company called FailZero. Google them. You can have your Glocks treated with this finish as well.

  • Smith and Wesson, regrettably, do not make a true compact version of the M&P pistols: they make a full-size and a subcompact, they make equivalents to the Glock 17/22 and Glock 26/27, but they do not make an equivalent to the 19/23. I personally think this is a HUGE mistake of theirs, and if they came out with one I would be seriously tempted at that point to switch over to it for my daily carry, at the very least I'd have to buy one and try it.

  • @rupert93r I used to believe this as well...until I started carrying an M&P9c. If anything the M&Pc guns are more like "tweeners" than true sub-compacts. My 9c empty only weighs about an ounce less than my empty G19. It's just as wide as the Glock and with the pinkie extension on a standard mag it's nearly as tall. A 9c is ginormous compared to a Ruger LC9 or Taurus 709 Slim., and seems big next to a G26, the guns often considered true sub-compacts.

  • I know you said you carry your 9mm the vast majority of the time, but when you carry the 1911 (I'll assume its a .45) what carry ammo do you use?

  • Me too i liked my 31 so much,i did barrel swap thing for a min its ok. But if you want to shoot 9mm get a 17. So with that said i also have the 19 as my main shooter 357sig is not cheap

  • I love glocks

  • Despite the marketing, the "trigger safety" on the Glock isn't intended as a direct safety measure, it's an extremely simple and reliable way to lock up the trigger bar, preventing it from traveling rearward from momentum due to a severe drop, which would disengage the firing pin block and release the striker, causing the gun to discharge. This is EXACTLY why the original Ruger SR9s were recalled and EXACTLY why all post-recall models and other striker fired autos have similar mechanisms.

  • @Mharhon I understand that's the claimed purpose, however it's been demonstrated that even without the "dingus" you can drop the pistol as hard as you wish and it still won't fire. The weight of the trigger and trigger bar are light enough that any reasonable impact (or even unreasonable) can't generate enough inertia to actually trip the sear.

  • @Mharhon

The ''trigger safety'' is only there to prevent the trigger snapping to the rear as the slide is cocked back

  • @VicariousReality7 While I still stand behind my original statement (the purpose of the "trigger safety" is to make it IMPOSSIBLE rather than improbable to AD/ND on a drop), I will concede that's an additional benefit I hadn't previously recognized.

  • @sturmgewehre excellent break down of the glock. One of my favorite youtube activities is trolling the Glack fan boys. They get extremely frustrated and throw tantrums when you tell them their guns are plastic and supposedly shoot real bullets but there's no evidence of it in history. But yes they are good guns you describe them for what they are.

  • CZ for ergonomics. beside the fact they pioneered polygonal bores in 1600 and their point to shoot design is made for HUMANS. cold forging smells better and both women and children shoot with wicked sauce. making up for a lesser mag cap. 6 shots to the head has always closed the deal. Either or i carry a P-64.....

  • @imperialfragments p-64 is nice. I carry a PA-63. Wont carry a gun if it doesnt have a decocker.

  • Nice vid! But people who drink the kool-aid??? Poor choice of words man.

  • I'm with you 150%... I am a 1911 man through and through, and for the longest time, anything that was not a .45 ACP, I wasn't having any of it. That being said, 9mm ammo has improved tremendously since then. It took about 15 years for the glock to grow on me, mostly because, I've matured, and I now realize greatness when I see it. The Glock is a work horse. Outside of the cheap assed sights they supply the at point of sale, for the basic weapon. Glock is a K.I.S.S. gun. The 19 is my favorite...

  • Are those the EXO glocks? Or do you have cerakote or something on the slides? Or is it just the normal glock finish?

  • @guitarmikey2 They are EXO Glocks.

  • Kudos, I agree Gold Dot hollow points are consistent and reliable. I carry a supply of 45LC for my judge magnum.

  • I remember when I first saw the Glock 17 back in the late 80's/early 90's and thinking to myself "wow, what a FUGLY gun". lol It just looked so blocky and I wasn't used to seeing semi-auto's without a hammer and I couldn't understand why you would put plastic on a gun but then I kept hearing about how awesome and reliable they are and slowly but surely became curious. Now I love Glock and I appreciate the beauty in the functionality of the pistol.

  • I thought that AK is your daily carry :D

just so many videos of AK

  • Just wondering why you prefer the 17 over the 21' especially since you shoot a 1911?

  • @joshuamsu I own a 21, but since I shoot quite a bit the lure of affordable ammo keeps me shooting the 9mm. I also like the fact my G17 carries 19 rounds with the +2 extenders on the magazines.

  • Can u please review the Sig P226 E2? Thx.

  • I think I'm going to pick up the Glock 19 and Glock 26 for carry. Glocks are not something I know a whole lot about. I've always been a Sig/HK (and recently FN) guy with a mild fascination with the 1911A1 and Hi Power. Do you have any experience firing significant quantities of +P+ ammunition through Glocks? It's not SAAMI ammunition, so I'm sure it's not on the approved list, but I'm curious as to how well Glocks hold up when firing it.

  • Tim where are you getting the Gold Dots at for that price??

  • Can you do a review on your colt 1911?

  • Ive always wondered why glock 18s are outlawed, anybody have an explanation?

  • @Mraje94 It's outlawed for civilians because of the 1986 federal law in regards to machine guns. To sum it up, the federal law states that any machine guns produced after May 1986 are banned for civilian transfer / sale. The G18 is for govt military / law enforcement sales only. With that said, the Glock 18 has absolutely 0 appeal for me. The submachine and / or a short barreled tactical carbine does a better job for the intended purpose than a Glock 18.

  • Sturm is my fav guy on youtube

  • y not a sig

  • Good video and you did great at staying nutrual i personally like the berretta 92f i just dislike glocks for no reason other than they're pollamer i perferr steel

  • Great video. i carry the glock 17 and use Speer gold dots for self defense also .

I also totaly agree with you on practicing what you use for self defense . I am reloading my own practice self defense rounds using Speer gold dots (3998) starfire brass . and cci 500 primer . Powder there is a lot of options , i haven't settled down on the one i like the best. hard thing reloading the Speer gold dot is finding the bullets . NO local reloading store has them on stock.

  • I no disrepect but the 147gr 9mm have a poor street record. The best results in 9mm have been in 115-127gr

  • the speer seems to have a soft brass, after several chambering and unchambering i noticed the brass has noticable indentations around the where the bullet ends, so i now carry remington golden sabre .

  • I love those OD Glocks. I have a G21 that's OD. To bad they discontinued those.

  • I just wanna say i've never had an issue with the safety of my Beretta M92FS, granted I have pinched my hand a few times in between the slide and barrel, where it is an open top design, but since training with it quite a few times and competing with it I find it to be an exceptional pistol for me, not saying anything against glock and I'm not saying Beretta's the best I just wanna say that they are decent carry pisols

  • I ask you a simple question and you make a whole video! I LOVE YOU! :D

  • Seeing as how well you shot the FNP45's, have you ever tried the FNX line of smaller calibers? I have the FNP Tac and a Glock 19 right now, and I like the FNP so much that I'm considering trading the Glock for an FNX.

  • I have seen, I was there, a Tin shooting himself in his arm pit while holstering his Glock... Also the same month a dept went to Glocks and a Tin shoot his finger off. Glock maybe a K-I-S-S weapon BUT !!! I have seen / heard of more accidents with Glock then any other weapon. I own a 35/40 Tactical, I take it to the range, but it's not a weapon I'd holster. Not a bad weapon but not as great as people say.

  • Another great video brother. Keep them up.

  • My EDC is a 3rd Gen G19 and 124g +P Golden Sabres for warm weather and Hornady Critical Defense for cold weather.

  • Great :) thanks for sharing.

Ohh, and are explosive tip ammo illegal in US? And what do they say about extended mags for pistols? Since that politician female was shot in head and still lives now?

  • Beretta sorry

  • @sturm most of my ex military friends do not like the berreta m9 pistol. What is your opinion of the berreta? I saw your muck and mud test but did not see any opinion of the pistol

  • @cmraycmray I own a couple of Beretta's, and they're fine range pistols. They're not well suited for military or law enforcement work, IMHO (hence the Army is finally opening trials to pick a new service pistol). If kept clean, they work pretty well. But they have a high failure rate in parts and aren't the most durable pistols if you plan to shoot a lot. But they're elegant and fun to shoot. I opt for smaller and more durable designs for defensive work.

  • Dude, did I hear you right? Only $30 for a box of 50 147gr Gold Dots??? That's amazing.

  • @blessedcajun Yup, our local PD switched from 9mm to .40 S&W and had a huge stockpile of this ammo which they unloaded on our local dealer. So I'm stocking up on it while I can.

  • @blessedcajun you can get it for cheaper at sgammo (dot) com. they have boxes of 50 gold dots for $25

  • Drink the koolaid?

  • My uncle has a glock 18 he wants to get rid of but nobody can buy it for some reason, he says it's some paperwork barrier or something haha I want a glock 17 -_- I'm only 17 and here in tx I cant own a handgun till 21

  • Great vid. Back ground looks good!

  • plastic fantastic

  • The not really a safety trigger safety is the primary reason I carry an XD. When I holster it I do not engage the grip safety and it is natural for me to do this. While drawing it is just as quick into the fight as the Glock. The XD9SC fits my hand very well. I do use mag extensions, but they don't make the firearm print any worse.

  • @bigtank1982 I like the XD series of pistols, however I'm not able to shoot them properly. My hands just don't agree with the XD. I get false locks on the slide with both the 9mm and .45 caliber variants. I've owned 4 XD's and sold each of them due to this problem. Not everyone has this problem with the XD, I wish I didn't. I really liked my XD .45 but that's a problem I couldn't easily work around.

  • I use cop killer bullets, because that what cops use.

  • Great choices. I use the same guns daily. All the best.

  • i think you've already explained this in a previous video, but i'm being a bit lazy. why do you carry a 9mm over a .45, other than the importance of shot placement?

  • It is an ugly gun.. BUT!!! it works.. at almost all times.. and it is hard to argue with that.

9mm is for girls! LOL!! J/K (kind of!! LOL!!!)

Great Video and Thanks for sharing! You are a good sport and put out great stuff!

how about the F&N .45?? hmmmmm Glock Fan Boy?? LOL i kid i kid!

Keep it up! YOU! Are GREAT!!

  • i swear i shoot the glock 19 better then the glock 17...do you find this as well?

  • @TRUTHandANSWERS I actually shoot my G17's a little better. But it shot G17's for years before giving in to the G19. I'm a big guy and never felt I needed to carry a compact handgun and so I always carried a full size. About 10 years ago I bought my first G19.

  • @TRUTHandANSWERS I sold my 17 for this same reason.

  • Love the vid. What brand holster is the tan kydex one in the vid?

  • @ecferree It's a Raven Concealment Systems holster. I have a review of it from a week or so ago in my list of vids.

  • Thanks for sharing your input, it was a great video over this subject. Im the same way I like all types of firearms I dont stick to one brand. I do prefer the XD9 over the Glock 9mm for my carry, the grip safety just gives me that extra feeling of safety I like when carrying with one in the chamber.

  • I alternate between my Kimber 1911, and Glock 22 or 27 combo. I carry open 99.9% of the time so size is not a concern for me.

I also despised Glocks in the 80's, I could not tolerate the trigger next to my 191's, but all my time at Front Sight changed that after a ran a few 4-day courses with a 17. Now I own a half dozen from the 9mm up thru the 10mm

I currently carry only Double Tap or Buffalo Bore ammo with Golden Saber or Gold dot bullets in +P loadings... If I carry my 17/26 then +P+ loads

  • have you ever tried Federal EFMJ?

  • I like the 1911 / XDm grip safety best. It makes the most sense.

  • I've carried Glock 9's since I could carry. Never had a problem or malfunction. Thanks for the vid.

  • Pdx1 vs Gold Dot....

  • I love close up ammo backrounds

  • wait...wait....wait....you were in you late teens early 20's in the 80's......WTF? dude I thought you were like 24-25

  • @ramtron1775 I look young, but I'm in my 40's...

  • That's exactly how I feel I don't like 1 type of firearm or 1 brand over others. If they're a good quality firearm, I'm interested.

Now u tout a Hi-Point or a Heritage I'm probably going 2 look @ u funny & not value your opinion (not u particularly, anybody).

But these guys who only like Sig or HK or whatever & think all else is junk, REALLY GET ON MY NERVES. Sig guys seem 2 be the worse. Yes Sig makes a good gun, but its not the end all. Theres other stuff out there & its ok to like them too.

  • I agree with all your great points. Since I got my first Glock in 1993 (G19) I've been a believer. Thousands of rounds and not one malfunction. Today, I own the G17, G21SF, G23, G26 which is my primary CCW. Like you, I prefer heavy for caliber 147 grain. I go with Federal HST 147g +P

    Great video.

  • I get speer gold dot 40cal free. Thank got having a mom that is a captain in the local pd

  • Own any Sigs?

  • Before i clicked on the video i guessed: Glock 19 124 gr. gold dots. Close.

  • Loved your words!!! That's what I've been trying to say to a lot of people in a lot of time, but didn't have the right words. But you have'em! I don't like Glocks (specially because of the amazing quantity of anoying fans out there, that induces a new shooter to not like Glocks), but I don't hate'em either! I used to hate them, but when I started to shoot them, I got into it, but still don't love them.

    Thank you for your video,

    Arthur.

  • I'm a fan (but not a fanboy) of glocks. Tough, reliable, accurate. Until now, it hadn't occurred to me how easy it might be to accidentally set one off. Due to its size and what I wear, glock 19 really isn't an option for daily carry. Instead, I carry a S&W bodyguard 380. Great ergonomics and feels good in the hand.

  • Good video as always. Thanks.

  • Outstanding video! Always appreciate your professional, unbiased viewpoint. I too am a big fan of the Speer GoldDots. Carry them in my Kahr PM9 and HK P30. G19 is on the top of my list as well.

  • Great video Sturm.

Just one technical suggestion, why not mic up? The sound would be so much better when you do these videos, and you'd get rid of that hollow sound. There's a lot of wireless mic solutions out there that are very reasonable, just a thought.

Otherwise, great breakdown about your preference of the Glock, I'm not a fan of em but now can really see their positive aspects, thanks.

  • i remember when i use to pay 30 bucks for jhp.Still gives me nightmares lol.. Now i just use georgia arms 230 grain jhp 45 acp loads..for only $21 u get 50.. There 9mm 147 grain jhp 50rds for $17 would be perfect for u even if it is for practice. keep up the good vids brother

  • i came very close to buying a glock,i had shot the 17 and 19...i knew if i practiced and trained i could get used to it...then i shot an M&P and that was all it took...it had the simplicity and reliability of the glock and a feel that was comfortable right out of the box...i bought 2...the full size and compact...i actually shoot the compact better than the full size. i carry a federal +p+ 9mm load that i was able to buy a large quantity of for cheap

  • yeah i apperciate the glock, but i dislike some people saying its the best thing since sliced bread maybe cuz i'm young and thats what i hear....friend wants one i didnt bag on him, cuz its nice he like it cuz of its simplicity.

  • Is it bad to store ammo in mags?

  • @icecoffeeenthusiast No. Modern springs are at rest when fully loaded and can remain loaded for many years without loss of spring strength. What wears a spring out is constantly compressing it and uncompressing it. People that shoot a lot or constantly unload their mags and reload them are wearing their springs out far more quickly than the person that leaves mags loaded for years.

  • @Sturmgewehre Awesome! Thanks for the feedback.

  • Tremendous exposition of this topic ... probably the best I've seen. I find myself agreeing with almost everything you had to say, which must mean it's 100% correct, right? (lol)

  • @ZombieTactics i liked it as well...I watch both of your channels regularly...my handgun choice was different but the method to arrive at my choice was very similar. as i've heard both of you mention , there is no perfect pistol or round...that's where the coolaid drinker get hung up...you have to be proficient with your sidearm of choice..i highly doubt a bad guy is gonna care if he gets hit in the face with a 9mm@ 1300 fps or a .45@ 850-900

  • @ZombieTactics Thanks man, it's appreciated. I don't think I'm always right, I find myself constantly adjusting my opinions based upon new experiences. Plus, I firmly believe that what's right for me might not necessarily be right for someone else, but that doesn't make either of us wrong in many cases.

  • Love your vids, but the background in this vid makes me dizzy.

  • " Fast into a fight " you said it all with that

  • deathly loyal to brands.....ruger my freinds. but im more into types of fire arms. 1911 my favorite. just plain perty. then hi power.

    glock is still ugly.

  • great vid! hard to beat a glock for sure.

  • "On THE YouTube..." You old geezer. lol

I would have figured the question you get most often would be "What's the deal with the go-tee?" :)

I am with you. Glock really had to grow on me. They are still not my favorite but I appreciate them as a utilitarian handgun. I also agree with your opinion of the ergonomics.

I wish I was someone that was willing to say what i think. I try to make everyone happy....as you know. lol

  • @TheYankeeMarshal You're the first one to bring up the facial hair. :) The short story is, I wasn't allowed to have facial hair in the military. I swore when I got out I would never shave again. I've kept that promise for many-many years... to the point that I simply can't shave now. I would hate myself for going so long then breaking my vow.

  • @Sturmgewehre

I always found it strange that you can't grow beards in the US military. We've always been able to here in Scandinavia (for some regiments it used to be a requirement!) and I remember seeing many a unshaven gentlemen in "Gettysburg".

Me, I start growing the military beard every time my unit is due to excercise. I've had it every day in uniform since I first got in at 19, it'd feel strange to wear the gear and not have the beard. Oh, and you look pretty young for an old dude.

  • damn it why is every body making me wish id baught a fucking 17

  • @derekgrebner87 nothing wrong with the 22, except the price of ammo :(

  • Glock 17 ftw! Got one and sometimes carry it but my all time carry is Ruger LCP for size and easy concealing. BTW sweet finish on that G17.

  • I'm first, do I get a cookie?

  • @KalashnikovKid762 (>'_')> (: :) here's a cookie for you. enjoy it.
