Yes, I also wish he'd be more specific in his introduction, esp regarding those nations referred to by Samuel Huntington as "much of the world"; who specifically is he talking about?...I know I can probably google it...
Tariq is really taking off. Great scholar, bright future. Because the downfall of the US is only about to start. He will never run out of new material, haha. :-)
Yeah, Tariq Ali took off, gee I wonder how many decades ago was that, considering the depth of his political analyzation and criticism of world powers, not to mention his age and wisdom? LOL All jokes aside, Mr. Ali is quite fantastic in his research, along with Noam Chomsky. They need to have a tag team and build their own empire, a totally non-violent empire based on mutual respect towards others and ever-lasting peace.
thanks for posting this. I have heard of chomsky, but have not heard of ali. I have alot to chew on. We need these points of view expressed for everyone to get a better picture of what is going on in the world at a macro level.
yes, I see the lannanfoundations's comment about the clip time limitation , but it is deliciously ironic that this clip ends exactly when chomsky says that iraq will eventually seek WMD, which , of course, was the very reason the US tried to isolate Saddam's Iraq with sanctions and then went into the country militarily.
Now, Chomsky, do I turn to thee, and mark my greeting well; for what I speak my body shall make good upon this earth, or my divine soul answer it in heaven. Thou art a traitor and a miscreant, too good to be so and too bad to live, since the more fair and crystal is the sky, the uglier seem the clouds that in it fly. Once more, the more to aggravate the note, with a foul traitor's name stuff I thy throat; and wish, ere I move, what my tongue speaks my right drawn sword may prove.
@MrNaryal YouTube has a limit of 9 minutes for most user accounts. This event is much longer than that. You can find the entire Reading, and a Conversation with Tariq Ali, on our podcast site. (I'm sorry I can't put a direct link in for you.) Try podcast (dot) lannan (dot) org --then using the Search box, look for Chomsky.
@plascader Good question. YouTube won't let me post a link directly; go to chomsky (dot) info -- in the Talks section look for "Elections Run by Same Guys Who Sell Toothpaste. International Relations Center. January 25, 2005." That's as close as I can find.
