  • very nice video i went on a cruise to the eastern carribean and it was very nice.

  • Thanks so much for saying so. We were on the Pearl. Which ship were you on?

  • @jnajem i was also on the Ncl Pearl. i meant to say that on my comment b4 but i somehow forgot to. Anyways, the Ncl Pearl is a beautiful ship.

  • Thanks soo much!

  • Rocky - how was your trip?

  • You are always helpful! I will be leaving tomorrow! I will certainly upload pics when I return and I will add my bit to you tube so I can hopefully be of help to someone-just as you have been. Thank you!

  • Have a great trip, Rocky. Grab something for motion sickness before you go just in case. On the Pearl, get a reservation at Cagney's steakhouse and order the steak. It'll be the best meal you've had.

  • I tried to book a few excursions and it seems that they are all unavailable???

Did you hear of anyone not being able to do an excursion due to it being sold out? Should I panic?

Did you do any private excursions ( not through the cruise) ?

  • Absolutely no reason to panic. I'll eat my shirt if you don't go on every excursion you want to. Just book when you get on the ship. They open / close more due to demand. DON'T sweat it if the web page claims they're full. NCL is good at cruising but bad at web dev.

  • You were so so helpful!! Thank you so much.

  • My pleasure. Take a look at my other video I shot on the Pearl. It's a bit long, but stick with it and read the captions. Let me know what you think. It's funny!

  • What is the name of your new video? How do I get access to it/ find it?

  • It's not a new video, Rocky. You can do a search on YouTube for "Rough Seas on the Norwegian Pearl," or just click on my user name which will take you to a page with all my videos, and pick out the video of the same name.

  • Ty for the quick feedback, Can you continue from my wife and I? I so desperately want to know if I should go for the helicopter ride and walk on glacier and/or dogsledding?? Help

  • Sorry, Rocky. Busy day at work, but here's more information. My wife and I used our summer clothes only when we left and returned to Seattle, the rest of the time, it's long pants and sweat shirts. Don't worry, you WON'T be uncomfortable, just pack for a colder climate. A good pair of hiking shoes are fine for both walking into ports and walking on the glaciers. You'll want some nice comfy shoes for the boat - remember you'll be spending most of your time there. One of the nice things

  • you can do is sit in your room with the balcony open. You won't be cold unless you step out and stay in the wind for a while, then you just step back into your cabin and warm up. They have wonderful hot beverages on the boat. As for shore excursions, here are the MUST DO's. First, in Juneau, go on any whale watching tour. You'll see humpbacks, Minke, and Orcas. Bring your camera and extra batteries. In Skagway, take the train trip on the White mountain pass. Then, take a helicopter ride

  • to either the Mendenhall or one of the other Glaciers. Don't worry too much if you miss the Mendenhall glacier, your trip to glacier bay will be amazing. That's where you'll need your jeans and winter coats. If you have money to burn, you can take a plane from Ketchiken and do the same thing. Forget dog sledding, it's gimmicky and not worth it. The last thing to keep in mind is despite the hype, seeing glaciers from the air is boring compared to seeing them from the ground up close.

  • If you want to go fishing, book right on the port and not through the ship. If you book whale watching through the ship, find out what kind of boat you'll be on. If it's a small zodiac with two powerful engines, you'll see LOT'S of whales, but will likely be uncomfortable at times, and too bouncy to take photos or video. If it's a big boat, you'll be comfortable, but likely chasing whales instead of watching them.

  • I will be going in 2 weeks and have a few questions;

How should I dress- Ligh jackets, jeans, hiking shoes?

Would you recommend that I book my shore excursions thru the cruise or should I wait until I get to the ports?

Can you suggest some good shore excursions??

I really want to do either the walk on the glacier or dogsleding but those are soo pricey

  • Hey Rocky: Congratulations!! I'll try to answer your questions, but it may take me more that the 500 Characters! I'm from Wisconsin, so cold winters don't shock me very much, so I would tell you that temperatures, especially in Glacier Bay can really be biting. You'll need a winter coat, including hat, gloves, scarf if you're planning on standing outside on the deck for very long. Once you're indoors on the ship (and indoors are never very far) you'll be toasty. My wife and I

  • I took the picture at the Seattle Aquarium in the seal tank. We hung out there after the cruise before we headed to the airport. It wonderful. You may want to check back later this afternoon. On our northbound leg to Juneau, we encountered 25 foot waves and I've got some great footage.

  • Great pictures. Make me want to go back to Alaska already. What is the picture at 1:51 of, and where did you take it? It's quite intriguing.
