  • Gratzer is correct: Nixon and Ted Kennedy made health care expensive in the HMO acts

  • Gratzers' only motive is to serve medical corporation in fleecing Americans, he is a puppet and a flat out liar when it come to the benifits of a national healthcare system. He has no right to talk about who is and who isn't an American when he himself is a clear traitor to the American people.

  • all this hate on a CANADIAN doctor really reflects your fears that Obamacare may be as bad as he says

  • Dr. David Gratzer you are just a Puppet dude how thick is your skin every one pounds the shit out of you .

  • If he didnt get his ass kicked on a daily bases in high school, it was because he ran home everyday.

  • Framing the Canada vs. U.S. healthcare as Socialized vs. Free Market healthcare is incorrect. The Canadian government over recent years has been turning a blind eye to private practices and allowing private industry to reduce the burden. But the most ingenuous part of the aforementioned argument is to suggest that the U.S. has free market healthcare. Medicare and Medicaid are products of socialized medicine, not to mention the heavy rules and regulations that strangle market forces.

  • Congress should change Medicare into an option, where by tea-baggers can opt out and purchase their own insurance and receive a $1000 voucher to help them pay for it.

I wonder how many would take up such an offer...

  • Dr Gratzer is an arrogant pompus asshole profeteer who would rather people die so he can make money. This is the kind of men that stole the Americans wealth.

  • @PaulLayton1102 amen. not only does he do that, but he betrays his own country, and he gives Canada a bad name. someone shut him up before he does some real damage (if that is at all possible)...

  • @PaulLayton1102

Thank you so much for your insight and critique of his statements. I especially like your "profeteer" reference. You have shown yourself to be a wise man. Just kidding.

    Quit pandering to stupid youtubers.

  • It concerns me that as a Canadian journalist I've never heard of this Castonguay fellow, yet he figures prominantly in Gratzer's arguement - in fact, Tommy Douglas, the man considered to be the father of Canadian health care, was voted last year to be the country's favourite Canadian.

  • Love the woman behind him rolling her eyes at 2:54, as Gratzer pompously draws a ludicrous analogy between an obscure Quebec civil servant and J.M. Keynes; then idiotically claims Keynes was a socialist.

  • Would anyone care to know who provides financial support to the Manhattan Institute of which David Gratzer is representing?

    Answer:

    - CIGNA Corporation, a private healthcare concern

    - Bristol-Myers Squibb, a pharmaceutical corporation

David Gratzer is a young policy hack who was quickly promoted to senior fellow due to his ability to tow the line for private healthcare. He offers industry scripted arguments based on pseudo-calculations.

  • He sounds like the lead singer of King missile on their hit-single detachable penis. I think he might have lost his, he is definetly manipulating facts.

  • I can match every horror story you have about someone not answering a call bell in a hospital in Canada with a story about someone not able to get care in the US. I can match every story about not getting cancer treatment in Canada with one about one about my patients with cancer not even able to see an oncologist in the US. Anecdotes are scare tactics, not arguments.

  • @pdquick1 I live here in Canada and I have a father who is 82. Every treatment he has needed he has gotten and in a timely manner. Just last month he need a CAT scan, he waited only one week. A couple of years ago when my father need surgery to have a kidney removed, it was weeks between diagnosis and the surgery, not months. We do have issue with getting in to see specialist, and some operation there are delays, but a lot of these are being fixed.

  • You would be forgiven if, having heard this testimony, that M. Castonguay had completely reversed his views. In fact his report ends by saying "The Task Force does not call into question any of the basic principles of the existing system."

The main controversial aspect was the call to allow private heath care to be funded side by side, as happens in most other countries with a public health care system.

Google "REPORT OF THE TASK FORCE

ON THE FUNDING OF THE HEALTH SYSTEM"

  • This Gratzer is later grilled by Kucinich. Many American-Canadianian citizens/residents do go to Canada to get health care. In fact, the industry of Americans who get medical procedures outside of the United States is HUGE.
