This is how to tell that a torrent is fake

1. Look at the file size if your looking for example if you are looking for a copy of Modern warfare 2 and the torrent is only like 39 KB its obviously a fake

2. Look at the comments and ratings if the file has a ton of negative ratings and comments about 20 different comments DONT DOWNLOAD IT.

and i dobut 59 people from around the globe are posting positive comments on a negative file just to get at you.

I was using my Mac and downloaded lots of torrents. About a month ago I downloaded another torrent and my Mac just crashed. I was like wtf but nvm. I turned it on and WTF. There was just a rotating question mark instead of the Apple logo and it didn't start up. Fucking torrent gave a MAC a virus :/

That's why you don't port forward and always stay behind a firewall. I've been using uTorrent for years and have not once got any viruses inside my computer because even if there was some they never was able to infect my PC because I'm smart that way :)

i think you need an education on how things like this site scanner works. It looks for things common to websites that are dangerous and warns you not to go on them. This means that a site that is completely harmless could appear as dangerous because it shares similarities with websites that are actually dangerous, I wouldn't read to much into this one. I know this sounds really arrogant and im not trying to be, just trying to pass on information

The pirate bay is under investigation for offering copy written material and saying "**** you" (seriously, read some of the letters they've sent) to the people asking them to stop, it has little to nothing to do with them allowing things with viruses to be torrented

Torrents are basically a file you can download off the internet which contains a file in it. When your downloading the file in it, you need a torrent client such as bittorrent, or uttorent. But torrents really arent that bad, this guy probably just downloaded unkown torrents. If you want to download torrents safely with no viruses, check the comments from the torrent and make sure that they are positive. Try not to download programs though, id say about 50% have viruses in them.

Torrents don't hurt anyone. If you're trying to get stuff that you'd have to buy, it's quite a bad idea. There's a high chance of malware. And the more popular the application, the higher is the chance.

For example, torrents of Linux distributions, from the official page, are always safe. There's practically no demand!

Yes, I do. Seriously, I am careful. You just have to be more careful when you download torrents. Remember to look at the torrent's rating and the comments. If the rating is good and the comments are all positive towards the torrent, then it seems safe for download.

Also, use a different anti-virus than McAfee... I heard that it's overall a bad anti-virus. Try something like AVG, Avast, Kapersky, or BitDefender instead. An anti-malware program doesn't hurt, either.

Personally no torrent site is safe as the torrent files are still active even after extracting them to your computer.
