  • that is alot of french toast no offence

  • @kidf1000 most likely for other people.

  • you look like a really nice person :)

  • Press 8 to hear him banging

  • lol "cold" weather... What is that David? Like 10 degrees celsius? haha where I am from in the US are usual winter weather is around -6

  • & you are not married i presume

  • As a kid I always had french toast savoury, can't understand why people would want it sweet, guess it's like porridge though, some like it sweet others don't. For the record, french toast done as above with a little mustard or HP brown sauce is awesome. Ketchup is ok too but not as good, chipotle hot sauce is good with everything including French toast.......... Off to make a batch, getting hungry thinking about it lol

  • Aren't you supposed to add cinnamon and vanilla extract ?

  • @TheRomane71193 I think that's optional

  • @TheRomane71193 This is the savory version ;)

  • soo, the difference between the savoury french toast and the sweet french toast is that with sweet french toast you add powdered sugar and syrup?

  • @LastSasquatch And of course the salt and pepper ;)

  • Great Video, Great Job!!:)

  • Exactly how I make it :)

  • This guy VS Nicko ...who's going to win the CULINARY RAP BATTLE OF THE HISTORY!?

  • This is how my parents taught me, egg and milk :) I'm currently living with English people at the moment who don't believe me when I say it's French toast, they say "Eggy bread," grr! it's all because I'm Aussie.

  • @bellabop88 Well you lost the Ashes, so you gotta agree with them now :P

    j/k

  • thank you so much! I'm not very creative in the kitchen, and I'm fed up eating always the same stuff because I lack creativity. This is a simple recipe that I can actually cook, and it's going to be a great change in my menu :)

  • My grandpa taught me that but instead of milk he used sugar with eggs. It was fantastic :)

  • I cook french toast at my job taste better with cinnimon season

  • looks a bit soggy>

  • Im addicted to your shows know you know :) we used make french toast .. class :)

  • I enjoyed this. You are very easy to listen to :D

  • My mother makes french toast the same way, only she doesn't use milk, just egg with salt and pepper and she adds other things in too, like coriander, green chillis, onions and tomatoes, it's not the typical french toast but it sure is delicious and filling!

  • @SkyeEssence Sounds delicious ;)

  • @OnePotChefShow tried with and without milk, with milk tastes alot better.

  • I always find it funny how nearly every video on YouTube is for the sweet version. I'm fairly certain it's only really America where the sweet version is the norm. I know here in the uk if you ask for French toast you get this version. and I think I'm right in saying that goes for a lot of other places as well, although the only real difference is adding cinnamon and vanilla to the egg mix, and putting syrup etc... On it after as far as I'm aware

And to those commenting about his voice going u

  • i love your recipe.. i never tried it like this because i like mine sweet,... i just ad vanilla, milk and cinnamon to the eggs and when they are ready all add some type oj syrup or jam..

  • You know what I like about your recipes? When you say 'easy recipes', they really are easy! Since these are savoury, I had them with chilli sauce and mayo. Yummy supper!

  • YUM! love your vids chef!!

  • gonna make this

  • I've never heard of Savory French Toast. How cool! Now I have to try it. I make a great homemade tomato soup that I usually make with grilled cheese sandwiches. Now I have a new alternative. Thanks.

  • So , wait, i can use ordinary milk. ?

  • @iamjosef12345 Yes - you can use normal milk :)

  • @OnePotChefShow K heres my problem, i tried to do this my second time, and it always ends up real soggy. Whats up with that?

  • @iamjosef12345 Sounds like you are cooking them too quickly (the pan is too hot) so th outside is cooking before the inside is done. Try cooking them on a lower heat ;)

  • @iamjosef12345 or you could put the bread in the ovem for like 5 mnutes, prevents getting soggy.

  • i know this is the savory version, and i dont know if you know the sweet version, but if you do, is it possible to make it without vanilla extract or cinnamon ?

  • @EpicLittleMiss The sweet version isn't very common in Australia - I've never actually made it. But I imagine leaving the vanilla and cinnamon out shouldn't be too bad.

  • i dont know if you'll be able to read and answer this, but can you use evaporated or condensed milk instead ordinary milk? :\

  • @yanskeedoo You could use evaporated milk, but not condensed milk ;)

  • gonna make this tomorrow morning

  • i love your voice man :D

  • awesomeee dudee =)

  • nice quick edible food recipe. thanks alot

  • your voice gets higher at the end of every sentence like youre asking a question?

  • @DRAMISINOO It's my Australian accent

  • I love french toast.. my mom always made it with cinnamon in the mix :)

  • i love this. being a student, it's quite a cheap way of having a nice breakfast. :D

  • whip, dip and fry! =)

  • love this i had it many years ago dont know why but we called it fryclips.

  • Love coming over to visit

  • Can i make this kind of toast without milk just eggs ?

  • @jackpotpbk You can, but it won't be exactly the same, as the egg mixture will not soak into the bread (just coat the outside) ;)

  • This is what I call french toast. My family gets together every year for a reunion and we go camping and one of the days my uncle and my mom make TONS of French toast for the whole group (30+ people). My Uncle LOVES making cinnimon rasin bread and on even the white bread he would sprinkle cinnimon on it before cooking. SOO Good for breakfast!

  • Omg, yuum!! :D

  • french toast is really good if you melt butter in the pan before frying the bread. for every egg you want to mix, you should put 3 tsp of milk. and then season with salt and pepper and fry until golden brown. that is the best way to make french toast :)

  • I can't believe there are plug sockets that close to the sink!!

    That's illegal here lol.

  • finally someone that can make the actual french toast, and not the sweet americanized version of it

  • well we can all see this guy enjoys his food lol ah well atleast fat people are good chefs

  • aye quick question mate ive tried this recipe twice and it ends up the bread being soggy (is that how u spell it?) anyways am i doing anything wrong?

  • @Jekjek021 too much milk in the dipping, not cooked enough, or the heat of the pan wasn't high enough.

  • i made a french toast like thing by frying bacon and then frying bred in the bacon fat it was realy good

  • it tastes really nice if you add sugar not salt and pepper and dont add the milk

  • Best french toast EVER!!!!!!! thank you chef!!!! I subscribed

  • Ok this is the simplest recipe ever. If it tastes good i will post in the comments.

  • I never add salt and pepper, but I do add a little vanilla extract and some brown sugar taste good and works well with stale bread.

  • I never pure milk into it. Its as good as with milk.

  • How much can you make with 1 egg, id probaly have 2 - 3 slices

  • lovely with a little cheese, cant wait for some new recipes dave

  • ^.^ om nom nom nom this is my favorite breaky dish.. but i limit myself to having it once or twice a year. i noticed a lot of people commenting add cinnimon and sugar. i tried it that way once but its heaps nicer served savory with salt and peper. my kitteh lily loves it too ^.^

  • french toast doesn't have to be fattening or anything. 1 egg (70 calories) 1 slice of whole wheat bread (56 calories) 1 tb of EVO oil (90 calories) That's just 216 calories. For a breakfast up to 400 calories is okay.

  • i doubt people will only have 1 looks too good

  • its nice with bacon and maple syrup believe it or not XD

  • my chef makes french toast everyday foe breakfast

  • Totally new concept for me in the USA, having french toast with tomato soup. Interesting.

  • i usually screw it up by not letting the bread soak the batter long enough

  • I use cinnamon, milk, vanilla extract and add syrup and powdered sugar.

  • I let mine turn brown and they still taste awesome.

  • I make mine without the milk, it's well nice. :)

  • That's always been known as Eggy bread for me over here in the UK. Our french toast is toast sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and then put under the grill for a few minutes! I suppose its different all around the world!

  • Excellent recipe, it was delicious, i like to add cinnamon along with it.

  • LOVE french toast for breakfast with lots of butter and syrup :D Hmmm think Ill make some this morning :D

  • ive always known this as eggy bread and also gypsy toast, lol i dont know why. but it is awesome!!!

  • I suppose you can't please everyone

  • @OnePotChefShow I like half and half cream instead. It just makes it a little less runny. Still I loved the recipe!

  • Nice Job! Next time you make french toast though, try not to press down on the bread, because it may make the bread flat and not have that good bite to it.

  • In the uk we call that eggy bread lol, I though french toast was just fried bread :P

  • My inlaws call it Eggy Bread too - I've always known it as French Toast. Let's just call it YUMMY!!!!

  • i would say that french toast is not only poncey but inaccurate because it is eggy bread :0

  • Eggy bread cos its egg and bread. Bombay duck is fish so whats the logic..

    And bread fried in oil. i think you'll find that's F- R - I - E - D - B - R - E - A - D. Funny that.

  • I'm in the UK, and we've always called it french toast. Eggy bread is one of those poncey tv chefs labels by Anthony' ignorant bastard' Worrall-Turdface

  • @Nunfluff or if you're my nan you called it "gypsy toast" hehe. It's very nice, I add a few splashes of woustershire sauce to it though.

  • Your Awesome Man ! i love you vids :D

  • Oh wow I haven't had french toast in AGES, I'm gonna have to make some !!

  • Don't forget the soup for dipping!

  • Nah I'm not a soup man, just the toast is fine lol ! Too bad it's in the middle of the night, I can't even go out and buy the stuff !

  • Nice french toast, love your videos!

  • Are there any variations to the recipe, such as maybe adding finely chopped parsley, or garlic to the egg and milk mixture??

  • You can add some dried herbs or use flavoured salts (garlic salt is good)

  • yummy!!!!

    I'm gonna make some now!!

    mike

  • i love french toast

  • Me too!!!

  • mmmmmmmmmmmm french toast :) great Dave

  • I'm tempted to make some more - yummy!
