Hey guys. I have an unusual question. Do you collect issues of F1 Racing magazine and if so, would it be possible to make a special video on the issues you have. Thanks from Michael from Ireland, a schumi fan !!
@michealcrehan - G'day Mike, good to hear from you mate. Funny you should ask, A few months ago I gave Pep all my back issues of F1 Racing, from 1998 to 2009/10. I basically ran out of room to store them! I still buy a copy every month though. Who knows, we may well do a vid of the covers one day but it'd take some setting up!
Hey guys. I have an unusual question. Do you collect issues of F1 Racing magazine and if so, would it be possible to make a special video on the issues you have. Thanks from Michael from Ireland, a schumi fan !!
@MistrzKubica - We had less overtaking problems because there were less modern circuits which we now know provide less opportunities to overtake. Also, the cars of the 80's & 90's had less 'gimmicks' on them so real racers were rewarded with 'having a go' etc, etc.
I'm a big fan of F1 but i think its getting ruined with all this high tech which all the teams are using, also now that they have to use pirelli tyres the minimum amount of pitstops there will be is 3 or 4 and that means that there will be 90 to 100 pitstops which is complete madness and all the environmentally friendly business is bull shit its sending a message but its not doing anything green and its wasting millions of pounds. Also how does this help overtaking if there is no skill involved.
@shelleyslater - Hey Shel, I think they're struggling somewhat and are yet to fully understand their car. I don't think it'll take them too long to get it up to speed but I'm anticipating that it'll be 2 maybe 3 races before they start to dial it in. The good thing for Team Macca fans is that they have two very experienced drivers who'll wring the neck out of the thing which will drop the dev time down considerably. Fingers crossed!
@F1Podcast I would love it if you guys replaced the OneHD presenters. You're true F1 fans and experts - not alleged experts. Are you going to be in Melbourne? :-) I am - and I can't wait!
i agree with the runoff idea. Hulk was cutting at monza i believe. you can do that but instead of sand put those somewhat jagged curve bump like at monza. or put both.
Melbourne should ALWAYS be the season opener! And Bernie only says that shit to lull gullible journalists to write about what he says as gospel. He's just a piss-taker.
Love the idea of having more gravel traps or something last loses you grip such as grass. Look at Pouhon now at Spa, brilliant corner but no-one gets penalised if they run wide like in the past. I think the FIA need to be more consistent in making drivers give a place back or let the person behind them back if they cut corners because most of the time drivers just get away with it.
why does bernie need to spice anything up, the last three seasons have be vintage and will be talked about for years to come and thats all down to qualtiy racing out on track. bernie can keep his fake rain, also lets hope the movable rear wing disappears from the F1 rules very soon.
today they are using the same engines as they did in late 2006, plus they made the cars look cartoonish with the extra wide front wing, and to top it all off in a few years they are switching to 4 cylinder engines,
good luck selling track seats when you have barely audible f1 cars, plenty of empty grandstands in f1's future
I think this year we will have no clue as to what the hell is going on in the race due to the different stratagies, tyres ect. Not untill the last few laps will we have any clue as to who is in contention for the win, not sure if i like that, it will be to tense.
Is it me or have you guys lost weight? In regards to the sprinkler system its just Bernie trying to get us all talking about F1 before the season opener. He is a wind up merchant and we all fall for it. I think its a great idea, NOT. Can you imaginge the uproar from the eco guys about the waiste of water. It will NEVER happen whilst ther are countrys with children dieing because they have no clean water, and imaginge the cost, i thought we were cutting costs.
1. To overtake you have to leave the racing line. That puts you on the usually dirty and less rubber-ed "off"-line => less grip for 2-3 corners until the tires are clean again.
2. The loss of down-force when you follow a car (less grip) => reduced corner speed and later acceleration, which reduces the chance of overtaking, even a car a second slower per lap.
So 1. forces you to mostly use the racing line, 2. punishes you for doing that.
Great episode once more guys, shame that gorgeous Villeneuve helmet is being tainted by the one next to it haha. Are you guys going to be at the Melbourne GP this year? We are coming over from NZ and would love to catch up for a beer if your going! All the best and keep the shows coming (preferably one a week!).
@F1Podcast Cheers for the reply guys, thankfully family and friends are all okay here, the thought is much appreciated. Shame you can't get to the race, you guys should dust off the racing wheel, don those skidlids and come join us at grand prix online for the Melbourne race! That would be sweet. All the best, looking forward to the next show.
Artificial rain isn't such a massive deal in my eyes. I think maybe it could be used to green the circuit again after practise and qualifying so the drivers start on a track that doesn't have a rubbered in fast line. That helps the overtaker in a form on skill, not gimmick, like ARW, KERs or pit lane overtakes... I also don't see a problem in the track maybe starting a little damp/greasy, esspecially in some hot countries. Just my opinion.
@TroublesomeTrueStory Its a silly idea really, In any sport you need to keep rules to a fundermental understanding for the mass public. You need to understand that the millions of people watching f1 on TV are not hardcore fans and just tune in to watch a race. I could not see how it would be entertaining to hear Martin Brundle drone on about why the just washed the track before hand. Formula one is already complicated.
*Bahrain? Nothing of value was lost... Season opener SHOULD be in Melbourne.
*Bernie's once again flipped his lid, so glad Todt's the FIA president and not him.
*KERS and movable rear wings are fine, in my opinion, JUST as long as everybody has them.
*I've said it before and I'll say it again, the secret to overtaking is low drag and modern F1 cars have IMMENSE drag! Thankfully, this year's F1 cars will have substantially lower drag than last year.
gday guys awesmoe vid as usual...simulating rain omg BE have another drink lolz... i agree about the track's these days they should be made alot better i hope thay think about the Texas track i bit more like make it more interesting like u said about the run off for a start anyhow have a good one guys waiting for part 2 cheers...
in terms of Runoff, Hulk went off 6 times at Monza, I always thought that there was a penalty imposed regardless if you leave the circuit 3 times. I reckon that penalty should just be put in place. Let them have their run off because as long as Bernies there, those runoffs will stay! so will Herman Tilke. Just have that penalty, go off on the inside or outside of a corner 3 times and not come to a COMPLETE stop every time, black flag, drive through...
Great video guys. I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I'm loving your videos. Your points are excellent, well-informed, and very forgiving to other viewpoints. Rare to find nowadays.
I do however agree with most of your points. Being an American, I admire F1 for it's sportsmanship and grandeur. A lot of our sports over here have been tainted with the theme of entertainment over sportsmanship Artificial rain would bring this to F1. These are F1 drivers and teams, not WWE wrestlers.
@godiuz88 the MVR can only be used in certain parts of the circuit in certain conditions that benefit the person overtaking. the MVR is expected to be have the same sort of effect as KERS (giving cars more speed), then when overtaking the car behind can use both to get ahead
Great to see a new vid chaps. I agree with all your sentiments here. Just wondering, and this is a bit of a weird question - I know you guys have your favourites, and I know we all hope the best for all drivers in a certain respect... but which F1 teams or drivers do you guys specifically NOT cheer on?

Hi guys, I don't think its the circuits.
ArminGips 11 months ago
That's why rain races are so much more exciting. 1. is irrelevant and 2. is less because of the lowerspeed.
Nice new cam, you don't have to squeeze together anymore.
