  • Thanks for the info.

I had just looked up how to make ear candles.

Then looked at some of your other clips.

Who'd have thought trying to find a way to use up my old bees wax would lead me to changing the light bulbs in my home.

Ahhh, the magic of you tube!

  • ugh! i just broke it trying to put it back on. i loved that bulb :(

  • i have this bulb from about 9 years ago that still works, not sure what kind it is. it doesnt say HG on it but it says UL. know what kind of bulb that is?

  • @marpoq United Laboratories, I think. My dad found this old ring shaped bulb at a yard sale for a quarter, which he thought might end up being a fluorescent light bulb, but it ended up being a halogen! Probably sucked about 60-75 watts, or somewhere thereabouts. Lasted about 10 months, if I recall. Sorry yours broke! Maybe it's a sign to switch to LED. We haven't had an LED die out, break or malfunction in any way in the year we've had them!

  • @YounaTuber i took a look at it again and found out it is a cfl! i put it in a plastic bag and a glass jar and it is sitting outside now. i think i will take a look at buying a LED light or two

  • @marpoq Sounds like the best place for it ;) Yep, we're planning on investing in more LED lighting and 12v appliances. I'll probably do another video about then when we get our hands on the goods.

  • @YounaTuber Underwriter's Laboratories. Halogens are used here in France and I keep telling people, these are so dangerous! Can you help me find the video about the Minnesota light bulbs which have been able to surveille us for decades? I need a direct link, please friend me. Thank you.

  • @slobomotion This was all I could find on anything related to surveillance and light bulbs... wwwDOTeaprotectionDOTcom/light-bulb-camera-and-decoderDOTaspx

  • @YounaTuber I prefer direct links but noted this, thanks! I am disabled and direct links work way better for me. Anyway, we are YT pals now, it could be way easier. I have been getting fantastic direct links from earthvisitor3 and when I like the people a lot, we switch over to personal email. I have a website, cutecatfaith d com. Gotta run to the post office but I DID NOTE THIS ONE AND APPRECIATE THE EFFORT. My keyboard is French and so is the software -- it gets dizzying! xo

  • Hi YounaTuber ....Thanks for the vid!

I put it on my WTF is UP?? playlist

    YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!

  • @2ninin Thanks, 2ninin! I always appreciate and look forward to your resounding support.

  • Keyword on this should be MERCURY and how unhealthy it is for humans. Poison on the ceiling in every room. Why put danger in the house? Why is government removing buyers choice? Are they gonna dictate which shoes to wear next?

  • carefully dismantle the bases of the CFL bulbs for spare parts if you are into electronics. (use small flat head screwdriver) the bulbs can be re-used for high voltage projects, or can be disposed of separately.

  • @grodenbarg Wow! Good info to know. Thanks for the tip!

  • I'm currently working on hydrogen lights. Solar cells power backup batteries, they intern run HHO cells producing Hydrogen on demand, feeding the lights. VERY bright and free energy. You can also run HHO gas onto your hot water heater, and furnace, not to mention welding with it.

  • @danman911 Interesting!! I sent an invite, too, btw. :)

  • CFL sucks! If the dogs start barking outside and you flip on the switch for the outside light, it takes several minutes to see anything. Swat teams must love these things.

  • Btw the small one. i just got 3 12 LED one's and there 40watt. i have them in my bathroom and they do a great job but there just a bit to blue.

  • @67tr876 Hm. I'm not sure that's correct. A 12-LED light bulb should not be more than 1 or 1.5 watts at best. Ours are 32-LED and are less than 2 watts! An LED light that takes burns 40 watts of electricity would be equivalent to like a 600watt filament or CFL light bulb! We have dropped ours before when we put them in, and they did not break. Also, they *do* come in "soft" or "warm" light shades now, as opposed to that harsh, typical, bluish-white light. Thanks for watching! :)

  • @YounaTuber I see but the one's i got have the square LED and they pack a bit more light out put. And i mean a 40 watt equivalent. sorry if i got you worng on that one. I got mine of ebay cuz am not paying $30-$90 for one. I got 3 off ebay for $20.

  • @67tr876 Heck yeah. eBay is the way to go! Prices have really been coming down lately.

  • I just droped one today SHIT ! well its ok its not like its going to kill me. And the funny thing is i was changeing it out with an LED.

  • great vid! thanks

  • @marpoq You're welcome. It was a learning experience for me, that's for sure! Thanks for watching. :)

  • @GilaTomster Wow! You know your stuff. Good research job! I will have to check into this more. Thanks for the positive feedback! :)

  • For 360 light source, go with the fairly new liquid LED light bulb. It's got CREE technology so almost no wattage needed to produce light. Also, since the diode rests in liquid, there is no heat generated. And it is safe and green. Only drawback is price.

  • @joesphx19 Yes, I have heard of the CREE bulb technology. I will have to look into it. 360 degree light with the same low wattage draw as other LED sounds like the way to go!

  • Hey Glad to see you doing new vids. Thanks

  • @goldmakers You're welcome! Looking forward to the next one. I think it's going to be a book intro. :))

  • @YounaTuber I hope so!

  • Hrmmm...What are the properties of Xenon?

  • @trybal007 Must be something good about it, considering it was used during surgery for many years, and is still used for deep-sea diving. It's considered a "noble gas".

  • Have you heard of the halogen bulbs going around recently?

  • @shoust I have not, actually. We recently took out our old halogen headlamps in our vehicle and replaced them with these bluish, gaseous lights. Our night time vision has improved amazingly well, as opposed ot having the old yellowish lighting. Are you saying there is something halogen-related in home lighting?

  • @YounaTuber they look just like the incandescents, but they use about 3/4 the power of them, not so sure on the longetivity of them though, personally i haven't tried them out yet, i hope to get some LED's in a few weeks though.

  • Wanna bet that the makers of those CFL bulbs has a major lobby in the capital to get the corrupt politicians to change the law, forcing people to use those mercury-laden bulbs. Go Green, my eye!

  • @billkehler Ha! Indeed! Well said, Billiams. Very interesting aspect, one which I had not yet considered. I would have to most certainly agree with you. There are bilions to be made off the unwitting, easily-duped citizens of the western world, for sure.

  • Im really surprised at the rate of failure you have had with these low wattage globes, the first 2 i bought lasted 7 years and they are the only 2 i have had to replace since i started using them. I will certainly look into LED lighting, and when the shit hits i am sure many people will usher in another age of candle and kerosene lighting.

  • @MilitiaHQ Absolutely. I think our "time" is overdue. Maybe we'll have "change" after all, eh?

  • Very well articulated. Thank you for a valuable contribution to the conversation, YounaTuber. Much appreciated.

  • @TheAntiTerrorist Bah- thank *you* for bringing this subject to "light". :) I've been contemplating another video for several months, now, and your video was the motivational kick-in-the-ass I needed to do it. :)

  • Ironically, a regular incandescent light bulb actually releases much more mercury into the environment than a CFL. CFLs prevent mercury from entering our air, where it most affects our health by reducing energy demand at the power plant. The highest source of mercury in our air comes from burning fossil fuels such as coal, the most common fuel used in Michigan to produce electricity. A CFL uses up to 75% less energy than an incandescent light bulb and lasts up to 10 times longer.

  • @GregQzag Are you satisfied that the energy companies are passing the mercury onto you in a smaller, tighter environment(your house) than putting it into the air which it would be more negligible? LED's won't have, or make much either. Lighting is only a small fraction of the energy used in the home, heating, cooking and freezing takes more energy than lighting, laptop, pc and tv combined, you'd prevent even more mercury by your argument entering the air by limiting the heating and cooking use.

  • @shoust "Are you satisfied that the energy companies are passing the mercury onto you in a smaller, tighter environment(your house) than putting it into the air which it would be more negligible?"

Yes, because The amount is overall less. The Amount of mercury in each bulb is essentially the size of this period . <--

"Lighting is only a small fraction of the energy used in the home..." Incorrect.

"you'd prevent even more mercury by your argument..." Correct, but that is not my argument

  • Interesting. I didn't know those bulbs had mercury in them! Yuk!

  • Options? Candles are the way forward. Much more romantic. x x x

  • @TheCannonFist Indeed! I am a candle fanatic. We have candles and lanterns everywhere. lol That's an important fact I should have mentioned as far as emergency lighting is concerned. Thanks for bringing that up!

  • Youna, long time no talk!

I have those bastard CFL's in the house. They seem to last but you are right, they are dangerous.

Digikey . com has some LED's and LED light engines in their catalog,. I wonder if they sell any with the standard light socket style.

LED lights started out expensive (so did CFL) but are slowly coming down.

Mass production would make them as cheap as anything to make.

And they don't need Mercury! :-)

  • @GodGunsGutsGlory777 Yeah, corporate mass production always brings the price down. Considering how long the technology has been around, you'd think they'd have come around with more options for LED lighting by now, which leads me to believe it's intentional, ya know? Good to "see" you again. :)

  • Give me that soft yellow/gold glow of traditional . Why do they always try to tell us they Know whats best for us better than we do. Like if that was the case they wouldnt allow all that Sodium and HIGH Fructose Corn Syrup in our food.

  • @WiIdbiII You've got that right!!

  • Good to see you. Thanks for the info on LED lights!

  • Im looking for bulbs to replace the 4 or 5 bulbs in the bath room vanity mirror. at $20 EACH 4 60 watt is $80-$100 for one room, all-tho it is the most used room. ;p

  • We went through that whole lightbulb thing here in New Zealand a few years ago .... but hardly anyone buys them. That spiral thing looks ugly and the light is terrible.

MY goodness, all those bulbs....lol... the lightbulb section in the supermarket is as big as the cereal section now...

Good to see you .. your looking well. :)

  • @mala265 Awww, you're a sweetheart! Good to hear from you. I was thinking about you when we heard about the earthquake, and was wondering how you and your family fared, or if you were even effected by it. But yeah, I hear you about the cereal section sized lighting department. It's really ridiculous.... All the department stores here are like that, too. Talk about "in your face', eh?

  • @YounaTuber We are fine thanks ... Im in the North, earthquake was in the south ...thankfully and amazingly no one died.

Yeah ... and then when you finally choose the one you think is right .... you get it home and it dont fit. arh!

  • Check out earthLED they use the mor advanced cree led's cost more but with 50 to 100,000 hr life and very bright they pay for them selvs

  • @dsarti1 I have been hearing a lot about these lately, and I will definitely look into it. We're looking at getting some more modern LEDs. They even have 12v LED for RV bulb replacement., We switched most of the RV lights over already, and wow, are they bright! Thanks for the tip, and of course, for watching. :)

  • Thanks for the info! I haven't bought bulbs in a while so didn't know they were getting scarce. In fact, I can't even remember the last time I bought bulbs. (?) Hope all is well. Miss ya!

  • @HisTrueImage V!! Long time, dearie. Very long! Hope all is well down there. I know you've had some weather to contend with. Thanks for watching, and so good to "see" you again!

  • We are swapping to LEDs for locomotive lamps.

  • @pughmecdoc Awesome!! You should make a video about it. :)

  • Doesn't any light that uses any form of mercury considered a sunlamp. I know the old sunlamps used a mercury vapor halogen light. I'm sure those green bulbs probably put out a fair amount of ultraviolet light which cannot really be good for people with long periods of exposure. Great video Youna, I'll check out the LED lights you mentioned.

  • @zohar52 Awesome. Let me know if I can help with anything. Thanks for watching, C. :)

  • Thank you for the info patriot. Have not seen anti- in long time lol

hope you and yo'urs are well patriot

  • Great vid...as usual!!!

  • Incandescent use a lot more energy and blow out faster....LED lights are nice but put off a lot of heat. My Mom's apartment complex just got rid of hundreds of incandescent bulbs for CFL and they had a huge box full of the old bulbs still good. "Going green is a gimmick and fallacy"

  • Woa! Long time no see. I was just thinking about you a few hours ago and wondering how the windmill was going.

I bought a few LED lights about a year back, to provide eficient lighting when used with my backup power system. They aren't very bright so I never bought any more. I'm waiting for the technology to improve to the point where I can replace my CFLs without too much loss of performance. I love how little power they use so I'm looking forward to upgrading.

  • @vention4wh Good to hear from you again! When I get done with filming tonight and uploading, I will post a few links to some new, better quality bulbs than the ones I showed in this video. I think you will be impressed! Lots of options, brightness-levels, shapes, you name it. Let me know if you have any Qs! :)

  • good to see you Youna.. :) great job and effort you're involved in.. if ya ask me, green is a color not the defination of non-pollutant.. good eye rootin' out the scams my friend.. take care..k..?

  • @Dewdaahman Dewdaah! Always good to hear from you, my friend. Thanks for the positive comments. As always, thanks for watching! :)

  • @Dewdaahman Come back to freedomizer!!!
