That menisus will really screw you, eh. Don't worry, all members of my family have had their menisci (?) repaired, and it seemed to go okay. I recommend a lot of Woody Allen movies and perhaps some sorbet.

Hi uncledave good luck with the surgery. i will keep you in my thought and prayers. my friends mom had a double knee replacement, after 3 months she said all the pain was gone. that was 3 years ago she is 76 and gets around like a 16 year old now. i believe you will do fine.keep us posted on how it all goes.

My wife had it done last year. she runs like a deer now.

She was recovered to normal in 8 weeks.

My advice is to get a excersice bike for your rehab, it is the greatest after swimming.

I've had so many chest surgeries that I am now highly skilled at spotting a pnuemothorax on an x-ray. Surgery is rarely as bad as one fear of it I've found.

Hey Dave! Sometimes stuff just wears out man, and we need to get 'em fixed! This will be some good time off for ya, I had a couple of people at work get the same surgery, takes about 4 to 6 weeks for a full recovery. I'm in UR corner my man!

Tell that cutter not to be to promiscous with your meniscus! stay "upbeat" and don';t let it drag ya down. Hot and cold water treatment beat pain pills anyway, soak it in real hot water, hottest you can stand after about 20 minutes put an ice pack on it, then hot water bottle again and so on, 'fore ya know it pain will go away!!!

I was down for three weeks after my lateral meniscus surgery...they did a "knee scope" and made three incisions to clean out the torn and damaged part.

I wish you have a much faster recovery than I did.

Dave I am glad to hear they are going to take care of that knee! It is not to bad. I have been there it well take a few weeks but it will make it feel allot better. I had a 13 year old girl next door who ran my dogs by the fence and got two of them to sprain their leg. She is no longer allowed to come around the house and we told the parents.

The knee seems so delicate and easy to cause injury. It probably gets old having to deal with the doctor visits and such. Sorry Dave. Hang in and it will be over soon.

I know this sounds weird but I think of the pain you are going through and I have two dogs who are going through something the same. One has been unable to go for walks for over a month. At least as humans we can get surgery where we know to take it easy during reocvery. Dogs are harder to control. hehe

So sorry you are in pain. That truly sucks.

this all depends on torn cartilage, the extent of the damage. The surgery is a common one done orthoscopically. I am hoping your recovery is good. the down time is a few days and you will be using crutches the first week or so if no pain. the doc will tell you all this *

Did you like the MRI machine? It kind of freaked me out a little I must say, its like a giant polo machine, that plays techno music!
