Terrific film, I spent 2 months in LA with a woman I loved, still love, we didn't make it, but LA still stands in the shadow of the mountains, doing what it does. Terrific film, tremendous performance from Matt Dillion. Miss you E, always, Your G.
great film! just finsihed it.... very touching and sad well directed......this song one o the best ive ever heard....felt really sorry 4 terrence howards sandras bullocks and esp don chealde charachters....powerful movie
I think this was probably the most "human" movie I ever saw. Aside from just a movie about diversity, it was about everything. It showed average people in their greatest and darkest moments. There were no heroes or villans per se, just ordinary people... living.
It's hard for me to explain exactly, maybe because this movie conveyed ideas we all have that go beyond words. Like when you look up at the stars, and you don't know what it is you're hoping to see, but still you feel alright.
Why this song didn't get an Oscar I'll never know. The movie won because there was a glimpse of reality at the Oscars. They caught hell for it afterwards, of course. Real life is too much to handle in the world of fantasy, no matter that they tell us otherwise. Lovely song that will live inside my bones forever, no matter what.
This is the most beautiful film I've seen; it touched me on so many levels. I couldn't believe what I was watching, and when I got to the end and this song came on, well, it all made sense. Everyone, even those without prejudice, should see this film...
I really enjoyed this film and I thought it revealed much about human nature. To me it showed that everyone has capacity for love and compassion, yet some don't realize this until they reach a traumatic moment in their life. We are so caught up in our prejudices and often fail to realize that nearly everyone, regardless of skin color, is seeking happiness and acceptance.

The most compelling film i ever saw i collect movie tickets i had many and the one from this movie i carry on my wallet I have felt the sense of touch
@lori914 its not as much to do with 6 degrees of seperation.. and more to do with the racist views people hold either secretly, or not so secretly. Each story line is fueled by some sort of racism. And at the end if you notice nearly all of them has learnt some sort of lesson. Racism is the driving theme of this movie. Although they are all connected and the 6 degrees of seperation is definately a running theme. I think this movie is 10/10...
personally know a lot of people who don't understand this movie and never gave it a chance. This makes me pity them that they will never really be able to experience the power behind the themes and messages in this film.
I know that people may find and be turned off by cheesy, cliches in this movie but the truth is: sometimes that is exactly the way we humans act and feel. I have watched MANY MANY films and consider myself a movie buff and this movie would have to be my favourite of all time.
Great movie, great performances by Bullock, Fraser, Cheadle, and especially Matt Dillon and Michael Pena. I just about died when Pena thought his little girl had gotten shot, and he cried out. Man, that's powerful acting.
The truth is, you have to feel pain inorder to feel love and compassion. If theres no pain and suffering, there will be no realiztion of love in this universe.

I cried when I watched this the first time, and I've cried every time since. It hurts my heart and knowing things like this happen, and experiencing them--it makes it hurt all the more. Racism, slavery, ignorance and human flaw. It hurts.
@Jammed9000 thank you very much. i've already found this movie and watched. and it's great! the music and the story told in the movie are very soulful and tangend.
This movie (and song) was so beatifully moving and so powerful in it's message. Though I was a little heartbroken that Brokeback Moutain lost lol, this definitely deserved the Oscar. One of the few movies out there that can touch everybody's heart and make everyone feel something pertinent about themselves and their own lives.
Such a powerful movie. The actors performance's were so amazing and moving. If you watch this movie and don't feel anything maybe you have no feelings.
best fuking movie............i felt so many emotions at the same time..damn! they all end up "crashing into eachother".................it hd me hanging by a threat and the cast..wow! damnnnnnn i cried throughout the whole thing :(
this movie related well to the college course i am taking right now: race & ethnicity. We see the prejudices, stereotypes, misconceptions of everyone about race. great song...in the deep we are all in!
I totally agree with you jammed. I try to get my friends to watch this movie. but their too caught up with movies with guns and special effects. This movie liteally makes me think about the world from another perspective everytime I watch it. I'm only 15 years old, and yet I totally understand the concept of this movie. 10/10
I saw that movie yesterday and i cryed like three times, i see this video now and i cry again, i am acting like such a girl, i am so amazed by this movie. Well deserved Oscar.
@eckosama I think the saddest part of this film is where the cop shoots the black guy because he thinks he is pulling out a gun, when it is a st.christopher statue. It's funny, the cop doesn't believe him that he likes country music (because he is black) when he infact does. Goes to show you shouldn't generalize.

This is an OUTSTANDING film there is nothing cheesy about it and yes the saddest part of it is that SO may people think, behave, feel and are as many of the characters of this movie. WE tend to judge without getting to know a person first. BEST MOVIE EVER!
I personally know a lot of people who don't understand this movie and never gave it a chance. This makes me pity them that they will never really be able to experience the power behind the themes and messages in this film.

@Jammed9000 me too. This has to be one of the most emotionally moving films I have ever seen after Tuesdays with Morrie. I do have to say though, that certain races were portrayed way too generally in this film, as if the director himself did not know too much about those races. And funny to think about it, it still makes asians look bad lol.
watever, I'll stop criticising the film, it's good the way it is. And I must say, I almost cried when the hispanic girl "almost" died.
@Jammed9000 I totally agree with you jammed. I try to get my friends to watch this movie. but their too caught up with movies with guns and special effects. This movie liteally makes me think about the world from another perspective everytime I watch it. I'm only 15 years old, and yet I totally understand the concept of this movie. 10/10
@Jammed9000 me to...I mean I consider my self a MAJOR MOVIE BUFF!! and so many ppl didnt get this movie and thought it was stupid, well I would have to agree with you, its the best of all time! it has super sonic meaning behind it that pretty much boils down to the 6degrees of seperation thing, that what you do in your life could have a MAJOR IMPACT on someone elses just by mearly geting them to install a lock on your door. amazing film and amazing song
@Jammed9000 so many ppl didnt get this movie and thought it was stupid, well I would have to agree with you, its the best of all time! it has super sonic meaning behind it that pretty much boils down to the 6degrees of seperation thing, that what you do in your life could have a MAJOR IMPACT on someone elses just by mearly geting them to install a lock on your door. amazing film and amazing song
Aside from what cliches that may exist this film is beautifully pieced together with amazing soundtrack, prejudice & ignorance sadly will be apart of life forever and this film just shows the impact of that, people see only what they want to see (thespacialone) :-(
I think that all who are that upset about some used cliches have not understand a tiny little bit of the movies moral. Just been blinded by cliches to see the truth...
Contrived, racist, inhuman. Your response proves your (italics) ignorance. Matt Dillon is, of course, outstanding, but the film's message and its delivery I find disgusting.
I'm saddened by how pathetically susceptible what I presume is a white-dominated audience has become to such hideous propaganda. Out-of-control blacks, trigger happy Arabs, starry-eyed little yellow people - any number of hateful racial cliches. The burning of the black man by the blonde cop - (subtext) well, wouldn't you in the same situation? The submissive way Thandie Newton's character relates to the man who sexually abused her. I could go on. Whatever, I'll leave you to your "entertainment"
Lol @ you. Yes, I am well aware of the Middle Eastern people's varied heritage, as well as the fact the film made it explicit the "shooter" was Persian. I have lived with Iranians in Hungary, Semites in Israel, and a Syrian in the UK, and I suspect my knowledge of geography, demography and ethnicity is far superior to yours, but whatever. I know why you like this film, why you think it poetic, but I also know you have been duped.
@thespacialone im saddened you're trying to carry on a deep, detailed debate about racism on youtube instead of just enjoying the damn song, you jackass
Okay, you made me chuckle. Fair comment. Seems someone else has a similar opinion, as my last comment was deleted but my first duplicated. Well, I think I got enough thumbs down for one post already. Best regards
I think it has everything to do with religion....human nature and God go hand and hand.....The movie has an impact on everyone in a different way and can be interpreted in so many different ways.
Im sorry but get your religious shit out of here. this message has nothing to do with God or any type of religion, it has to do with simply human nature and how violent it is and how everyone is prejudice one way or another. That's bullshit that you come in here like that and start preaching.
I agree, where they hell do any of you see religion or God being displayed in this movie? This is about basic human emotion and like DiveBum said, how we are all prejudice. I live in a christian family, it is amazing how two faced most of you bastards are. Live your own life, stop preaching to others.
Let's not be like that, now. You don't need to rain on other people's parades just because something evidently happened to you to make you decide God isn't something to at least consider.
Might it be because they are trying to save others from eternal damnation? Whether or not you believe, if they believe in God, they are trying to save you. Even if you don't agree, shouldn't you be thanking them for thinking of you?
in fact it has nothing of ridiculous... I've never think on that way but it's truth... they at least are thinking of you... and they're not making you believe, just showing you another way of see things
gh this song burns right through my body to my heart. My oldest brother died right before this movie came to dvd and I watched it for the first time and heard this song and now it reminds me of him all the time but It's almost a kind of reliefe sadness.
Does anybody know the name of the song that plays when the ending credits start playing? I would really appreciate it if anyone told me. This film is excellent!!
me too. is wish i could describe what it is that i feel when i listen to this song. the easiest way for me to say it is that it's a cold winter, middle of the night type longing.

This is an OUTSTANDING film there is nothing cheesy about it and yes the saddest part of it is that SO may people think, behave, feel and are as many of the characters of this movie. WE tend to judge without getting to know a person first. BEST MOVIE EVER!

This song is so thought provoking. I love it and the movie. ♥

I personally know a lot of people who don't understand this movie and never gave it a chance. This makes me pity them that they will never really be able to experience the power behind the themes and messages in this film.
I know that people may find and be turned off by cheesy, cliches in this movie but the truth is: sometimes that is exactly the way we humans act and feel. I have watched MANY MANY films and consider myself a movie buff and this movie would have to be my favourite of all time.

@Jammed9000 you're right . i think so
Hallelujah0102 1 year ago

Aside from what cliches that may exist this film is beautifully pieced together with amazing soundtrack, prejudice & ignorance sadly will be apart of life forever and this film just shows the impact of that, people see only what they want to see (thespacialone) :-(

this movie was amzing and this song, too.
I think that all who are that upset about some used cliches have not understand a tiny little bit of the movies moral. Just been blinded by cliches to see the truth...

Moving song, but the film is pretty horrible imho, just biggoted anti-gun propoganda.
thespacialone 2 years ago
that's a pretty ignorant comment
wingsinstripes 2 years ago 3
Contrived, racist, inhuman. Your response proves your (italics) ignorance. Matt Dillon is, of course, outstanding, but the film's message and its delivery I find disgusting.
thespacialone 2 years ago
It's clear that your prejudice has totally deluded you from the message of this film.
sbrenn 2 years ago 2
I'm saddened by how pathetically susceptible what I presume is a white-dominated audience has become to such hideous propaganda. Out-of-control blacks, trigger happy Arabs, starry-eyed little yellow people - any number of hateful racial cliches. The burning of the black man by the blonde cop - (subtext) well, wouldn't you in the same situation? The submissive way Thandie Newton's character relates to the man who sexually abused her. I could go on. Whatever, I'll leave you to your "entertainment"
thespacialone 2 years ago
@thespacialone
You use the word 'subtext', but clearly are missing that in this film.
BTW... Not all colored people outside your known map are Arabs. This one was Persian.
sbrenn 2 years ago
I know why you like this film, why you think it poetic, but I also know you have been duped.
thespacialone 2 years ago
@thespacialone im saddened you're trying to carry on a deep, detailed debate about racism on youtube instead of just enjoying the damn song, you jackass
Lifeshouldberandom 2 years ago
Okay, you made me chuckle. Fair comment. Seems someone else has a similar opinion, as my last comment was deleted but my first duplicated. Well, I think I got enough thumbs down for one post already. Best regards

I think it has everything to do with religion....human nature and God go hand and hand.....The movie has an impact on everyone in a different way and can be interpreted in so many different ways.
fatcatholickid 2 years ago
Im sorry but get your religious shit out of here. this message has nothing to do with God or any type of religion, it has to do with simply human nature and how violent it is and how everyone is prejudice one way or another. That's bullshit that you come in here like that and start preaching.
DiveBum18 2 years ago 3

This song has haunted me since the first time I saw Crash. It's hard to describe or explain the emotions I feel when hearing this.
It, however, still lies in the deep of my heart and will stay with me til the day I die. Wonderful song.
