well there your wrong because there is no pro level, its not what you use its how you use it, you can do the same exact stuff except easy audio recording on fl studio as you can on cubase its more of a preference thing
lol im not new jus cuz i think its way better u think someones new to the game. ur wrong right there. n the instruments in cubase or pro tools or even sonar sound way better than any in fl i've heard lots of ppl even say it. i use fl backed when i started music n i like cubase way better n im not sayin fl is shitty but its real good for ppl jus startin in the game
honestly I'm not going to get in a cussing war but your simply wrong. There is no evidence at all supporting this and in fact sound waves sound the same in whatever enviorement they are in. You think sonar or whatevver renders better but these "peoople" who say that must not know what to render to and they are probably rendering to mp3.
well ur obviously new to the game I do use fl studio but honestly there is no difference except that fl sucks at audio recording which is why I use presonus studio one for that
thanks bud I love when ppl think they know s much shit when they didn't even research it. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IS AUDIO QUALITY FROM FL TO ANY OTHER. the audio will be different in vocals depending on your preamp and A/d converter and mic but the sound processing is no different. and every DAW renders in the same way which is the way you specify.
@ADMMusicProductions i didn't say it but the way its all layed out n shit most ppl i know like other programs than fl never said anything bout the quality
o I got you I just thought you meant that when you said its not even on a pro level but go check out 9th wonder and KDE and MDL youtube all these 9th wonder is actually a huge producer using FL its a preference.

What's up Troup . I see you've been doing your thing for quite some time but I have a question. What's the difference between a really good computer such as a quad-core pc vs. a miko? and your reasons for choosing it? is it really that fast?
Everything in one box. Everything customized to work with each other, down to the OS and driver level. VERY stable. The faders and the buttons make working with VSTi's very easy.
Plus all the software that comes with it, and 25GB of sounds. Was a no brainer for me.
Yo Troup . Whats good . Sittin here in the studio , Doin my thang. Appreciate the vids you upload . got me a long way . Next week im getting my KRK Rokit Gp 6, but i lfeel like getting some other monitors to bring the low range , Got any tips?
i have been making beats for about 8 months now, right now i have no keyboard, i just make the beats with fl studio 8 and a couple VST plugins, i want to buy a keyboard and step up to a better program , what do you advise i get first.
Just get yourself a 61 Key midi controller and do your thing! FL Studio is great. I know a guy who's gonna be on 50's next album and he just uses FL. If I had it to do over again, I'd use all VSTi's...no external keyboards.
Check into VSTi's like Omnishpere, Massive, etc. Just as powerful as the Fantoms and Motif's.
not to many producers see the power of only vst's... some people can't make the keyboard purchases, but you can easily emulate everything a keyboard/mpc does in FL, least I do. Respect from another proudcer, I can tell you dig deep into your productions for that 'just right' sound... holla!
Yeah sound selection is real important to me...if i just chose any sounds, i could do beats in like an hour...but finding just the RIGHT sound and tweaking it to perfection is half the fun!
if you dont mind me asking, why the miko, and all those other keyboards? and how much that think cost? i said that i dont want anymore gear, but that thing looks like it has a lot to offer. p.s. tight beat
The MiKo was the last piece of equipment that I got, so I had the other boards before that.

Plus I'm kinda attached. Hard to get rid of something you paid $2000 for! lol
what im saying why dont you use that mimik thing. clone the keyboards. and put them boys on ebay, so you can get some of you money back off the meko. then send me a check in the mail, for the advise?
If that's the way you want to work go ahead. (Did you know cloning takes forever) I would never go this route because it doesn't attract me. I could buy myself a similar unit without the keys, but I would only use it to sequence. Not as a keyboard workstation.
Well, cut me the check to buy the 5 Terabytes of space it would take to clone both of those keyboards, then I'll clone them, sell the boards, then cut you a check for the advice. Deal??
Well, im a hip-hop producer whos been using Fruity Loops 7 for around a year and a half, and i wanna switch to analog because i dont like the overall sound of FL, even with various effects and whatnot, it just dont have that "warmth" ya feel me.
bruh if you need some drums or vstis, hit my aim up its "ugstillidie" and im usually invisible, so just hit me up and tell me who ya are and ill send you some
No i don't have my Layla connected to it. You're not limited to it's sound interface at all. It has PCI slots on the inside, USB and Firewire on the outside. You can connect anything you can connect to your computer.
Yes you can, and I still use them separate because I don't want to take the time to clone a keyboard, and I don't have the hard drive space inside the miko to hold thousands of sampled patches. It would take about 8 TB to hold all of the Phantom's patches inside the miko.
i spend over 5000 on my studio but not really making it back...but its the love for the music why i spend so must we allmost have the same setup i got a reason 3.0,fantomx6,mpc2000xl,mofites6,i like software and hardware i think everyone should have the best of both world!!!
thats whats up im planning on going as well i wanted to go this year but did not have the finance so i will see u there.....oh and um do you know how to be a participant in the beat battle....thnx
About a month before the conference, they start taking submissions for the battle by email. Check the Money Management XL myspace site in the upcoming months for more details.
I've never had a piano lesson. I can't play the piano all like that. Like both my hands don't work at the same time to play piano! lol.
I have a formal music education, and I play a few instruments, plus I can write music. But I can't play piano. Midi is the best thing that ever happened to me!
The money that I spend on my gear is an investment in my career. I haven't quite made the money back that I spent on it, but believe that within the next year or so, I will make 10 times what I spent on gear off my music :)
i'm not bashing your equipment, i am just saying that you've got too many sounds. I mean the between the Triton and Fantom there must be about 10000 sounds, and then the Miko has another 10000, and then you got all the Vsts and shit.
2 days depends on the complexity of the song. If it has a crap load of tracks sure. Otherwise one day should be more than enough. If you recorded it correctly/the way you wanted it to sound in the first place you would need even less time. Most people try to fix problems afterwards instead of getting it right from the start.
You're not explaining what your doing properly, there are to many things going on - Tritons, Fantoms, Miko, Cubase, 3 monitors.....
You need to get rid of the excess hardware like the Triton, Fantom and PC, and just stick with the Miko. Otherwise you will have too many sounds and this will hinder your creativity.
You do realize that you're contradicting yourself right? How can MORE instruments with MORE samples hinder your creativity if you've got more samples to choose from?
"Because you're speaking on something that you have no experience with. Your whole opinion is based on assumptions, not actual usage or facts."
Look man. I've been watching your video's for a while now, but the comment quoted above seems like plain ignorance to me. I've used and worked with all the major boards out right now. Starting from the m3 all the way up to the Oasys. I did try the Neko/Miko but I didn't get that gut feeling to get it like I do with other stuff.
Someone asked what the' controller' was and you went on and called me a hater. Then you write the comment; "Okay, I respect that. Different people use different things." I just don't like vsti's I don't use them at all. Even though there are some very good ones out there. I just don't like working with them. The Neko/miko is powerful as hell but I just can't fall in love with vsti's. Doesn't make me a hater.
I'm not sure why you are getting all defensive. I'm not and have not bashed your equipment nor have I said that because it wouldn't be the next thing I would get it's automatically crap.
How about you just chill out and get on with your thing. I'm reading your other comments and it's just plain silly.
I would understand that part of your defensiveness but there was nothing on my part to trigger it ;) Calling something 'basically a pc with a midi controller' because someone asked what it was you were using is easier to understand than a whole elaborate story. Right? Maybe in the future you will be able to read the comments a bit more thoroughly and not to assume someone is shitting on your well earned/spent money ;) Cool. Let's leave it at that.
Check out J.Troup giving a LIVE demonstration of the POWER of his OPEN LABS MIKO, during the LIVE WEBCAST on the weekend of 6-20!!
Open Labs. Makers of the MIKO and NEKO computer musical instruments. Used by world class producers like Timbaland, Polow, Lil Jon, Tim & Bob, The Trackmasters, etc.
i won a MIKO thru PMP.. im unsure if i should keep it.. since I have a powerfull pc with many plugs... how did it help your flow> Where do you sequence.. on your pc, on the Miko both?
yo thanx J Troup,i love ur videos, iam from future producers also and i think ur a big inspiration and thanx 4 leting me post my video as a response 2 urs, keep making heat my brotha!!!! peaceluv
Everything is connected to the Miko. The Triton is connected thru regular Midi cables to the Miko. The fantom is connected via USB to the Miko. So that way, they can all talk to each other.
Thanx! I've just been so busy with these different projects, I haven't had time to edit the videos that I've been doing. But trust that I'm back, stay tuned!
Yeah, that's the Miko. I still use the Fantom and the Triton. They are still great boards, and have ALOT of sounds that I still use.
I have everything midi'd together, so I can play ANY instrument from ANY set of keys. Sometimes I'm standing up, and I like to hit the fantom keys. Plus they don't have any aftertouch, and sometimes I like that.
Sometimes I'm sitting down, and like to use the Triton keys, and play with the ribbon or the joystick.
jtrouptv, that's one of the things I'm always amazed by with people comment about equipment. People seem to think you went to the store and purchased everything at once. LOL!!! I know people that say they can't afford equipment but you go to their home and they got every video game system and about 50 video games. LOL!!!
Lol yea well after looking at the price for the Miko, buying a lot of $50 video games still doesn't really add up to that. But i feel you. I plan on getting the Roland Fantom G8 soon and there are methods to buying expensive equipment.I'll prolly go to AMS and make 5 monthly payments, when i can afford it.
That G8 is what, $3500? So $500 more than the Miko. And when you get tired of the sounds, what can you do with it? Buy the next $3500 keyboard, right?
The Miko I can just throw more VSTi's on it, or throw more plug-ins on it. Plus I can make new patches by cloning my existing keyboards and combining sounds.
When the miko gets old, I upgrade the Ram, an 8 core processor in it, and it's good as new.
Yea I feel what you're saying, but my thing is I play the piano. I want to be in the music scene doing something(gospe) as far as making writing songs, creating mixes for songs or just making beats for gospel songs...or even being an audio engineer in the background. But still I play the piano and I plan to go to school to learn as much as i can. So the Roland Fantom would benefit me because I can take it where ever and just play the piano with crazy sounds and whatnot. Feel me?
No doubt. You play keys, so you need those 88 weighted keys. I don't play keys that proficiently, so that's overkill for me. Plus you can't really do drums on weighted keys! lol
But I'm not knocking your decisions one bit. Cop that G8 and do it to death!
All I was saying is that the Miko allows me to have my studio in a box, so I can pick up and go to NYC, plug it into the studio, and be able to write, record, mix and master a song all out of 1 box.
Yea I feel you. Im gonna try and do some more research though. I wonder if its worth getting the Roland Fantom G8 over the X8 because the price difference is crazy.
But I can see how you would want the Miko. If I had all the money in the world, Id get all of it and learn it all and just enjoy it all...but wouldnt we all lol.
But you mention the whole playing drums on weighted keys..well you got quantize, right? But anyways, are the pads not good on the fantom g8?
LOL!!! Yeah the Miko is no joke. My point was if you really want something bad enough. You will figure out how to get it and pay for it. Hell, I bought my first computer when you couldn't get one under $1,200 and I was broke. I mean broke man. LOL!!! It had a 30MB hard drive and I thought man I will never fill that up. LMAO!!!! That's one Youtube video now. Crazy!!!
Exactly. And it's all about your personal needs. I was outgrowing my current setup, so I needed something that would allow me to run wild with my creativity, without bogging me down in the technical limitations of my old setup. The Miko lets me do that.
Plus I wanted to get more into using VSTi's, and the Miko got me into those as well.
So just because the Miko was right for me, doesn't mean that it's right for everybody else.
I think it's great. Just like Reason, the Fantom and Triton
Because you're speaking on something that you have no experience with. Your whole opinion is based on assumptions, not actual usage or facts.
If you had one and didn't like it, then I could understand. But as far as I know, you don't own one, haven't used one, so how can you say what it is or what it isn't, just by looking at it?
It's a cool thing but I already have a pc and a controller. It has some cool features but I just don't see myself buying one. I'm much more of a multiple (hardware) workstation guy than an all in one box :) Could be a nifty device for producing on the road. The thing is that I don't like using vsti's. That's the main reason why I probably won't get one.
Okay, I respect that. Different people use different things. Some people don't like computers and swear by their MPC. Some people don't like hardware. Some people don't like VSTi's.
I happen to like both. For what I do, the MiKo works incredibly well for me. It may not work well for other people. Everybody doesn't have to work the same as everybody else.
the main reason i wont get one anytime soon, cause i can buy a saturn for 5k, lets get real people. you cant tell me that you would rather have 5 keyboards, having to save on all of them every time , and fucking with all that midi shit.then to have mimik copy all of them into one box and go from there. dont hand me that vst bullshit. just say you cant afford it. i just did
I still don't quite understand this blatant hostility. Yes I would rather have 5 keyboards. If you know what you are doing, there are no issues with keyboards and cables. Saving etc. I'm building a commercial studio right now. Having several keyboards instead of just one unit is not only preference it's client friendly.
I cant afford it? I can and I am. Should be done in a couple months.
i have multiple hardware set up in the crib. the mpc2500, that i will never part with. a classic motif, and a tascam fw1884. running into sonar. and my quaters is small as hell. cant fit anything else in here, if i wanted to. Now all this shit cost big bucks, but for me to grab one piece that cost $5k is far fetched. and i hate vsts, all in ones. but this miko will solve all my space issues, and i know im not the only one that has this same problem
Why do you have to save on all your keyboards every time? Why would someone do that?
Everything should be saved in whatever DAW you're using to sequence. When I pull up Cubase, all my settings for all my keboards are automatically recalled.
Damn that shits hot!

SEAL07 3 years ago
Yes you can, and I still use them separate because I don't want to take the time to clone a keyboard, and I don't have the hard drive space inside the miko to hold thousands of sampled patches. It would take about 8 TB to hold all of the Phantom's patches inside the miko.

MIDI is musical data that is transfered through various instruments right?
SEAL07 3 years ago
Do a google search for Wiki Midi, and you'll find everything about MIDI.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
did you take piano lessons? or did you just learn to play by ear?
SEAL07 3 years ago
I've never had a piano lesson. I can't play the piano all like that. Like both my hands don't work at the same time to play piano! lol.
I have a formal music education, and I play a few instruments, plus I can write music. But I can't play piano. Midi is the best thing that ever happened to me!
jtrouptv 3 years ago
I notice that the neko has more keys than the miko, does this create a different performance or is there no major difference?
by the way your percussion loops really knock I would like to know were you get some of them if you don't mind telling me.
SEAL07 3 years ago
Alot of key players prefer to have more keys for a live setting. I don't play the keys, so 37 keys is more than enough for me.
But there is no "performance" difference. Just more keys.

yo jtoop u know all the mony u have spent on ur eqipment would u say that u make all that mony back in making beats and selling them
kingballer17 3 years ago
The money that I spend on my gear is an investment in my career. I haven't quite made the money back that I spent on it, but believe that within the next year or so, I will make 10 times what I spent on gear off my music :)
jtrouptv 3 years ago
yo nice beatr fam very diffrent hey can you upload software to the miko like lets say reason or fruity loops ?
jaya1985 3 years ago
I use reason on the miko all the time. You can put Fruity Loops on the Miko as well. Anything that will run on a PC will run on the Miko.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
keep doing yo thang man nice melo beat.......i cant wait to get my hands on dat piece of equipment...
umm where did u buy it 4 3g's on da open labs it says like 4g's
musashi301 3 years ago
Thanx! That was somebody else that said they cost 3. The Timbaland Special Edition Miko retails for $4299, and that's the one I have.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
Troup sounds like an angry kid.
All I did was give him some constructive criticism about music equipment, and he goes talking reckless.
No wonder Troup has never got any placements or credits. He needs to change his attitude and show some respect.
phatpat100 3 years ago
Does my 30,000 sounds make you mad? Does my Miko make you mad?
Does it LOOK like my creativity is being hindered by my "excess hardware"?
LOL @ me not having any placements or credits. Clearly you don't do your homework.
You sound mad. You should go relieve some stress. Wax on, wax off. :)
jtrouptv 3 years ago
i'm not bashing your equipment, i am just saying that you've got too many sounds. I mean the between the Triton and Fantom there must be about 10000 sounds, and then the Miko has another 10000, and then you got all the Vsts and shit.
This is what your beat session will look like.
-3 hours going through the sounds.
-10 minutes making the beat
-10 minutes mixing the beat
phatpat100 3 years ago
You don't think I know my equipment well enough to know exactly what kits contain the sounds I want to put in my tracks?
Dude, I've been doing this for 5 years. I'm not new to this. I've managed thus far with my "too many sounds".
Maybe it slows you down, but having all these sounds boosts my creativity.
And trust, making the beat and mixing takes way longer than 10 minutes. LOL
jtrouptv 3 years ago
@phatpat
lmfao 10 minutes mixing the beat? are u retarded? lol 2 days atleast with pauses and sleep inbetween, comes closer....
BigPeteTV 3 years ago
Yeah, but 2 days is for a good mix, his mixes ain't exactly world class.
phatpat100 3 years ago
2 days depends on the complexity of the song. If it has a crap load of tracks sure. Otherwise one day should be more than enough. If you recorded it correctly/the way you wanted it to sound in the first place you would need even less time. Most people try to fix problems afterwards instead of getting it right from the start.
dazzelya 3 years ago
lol...It doesn't take 2 days for a mix. Mixing a song takes about 6 hours.
Let's hear your mixes buddy...I see that you deleted your FRUITY LOOPS video. I'd LOVE to hear what kind of platinum ear-gasms you create...
I mean, in between your washing of world class cars!
lol.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
3 hours going through the sounds? If you know your gear you know where to find what you are hearing in your head.
Sure you can make a good skeleton in 10 minutes but fully arranging in 10? No way?
Mixing in 10? You probably think that mixing consists of merely leveling and panning your sounds...
dazzelya 3 years ago
Clearly dude doesn't know wtf he's talking about, and has barely even MADE a track, let alone mixed one.
Like I said, he should stick to what he knows...WASHING CARS.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
And you should continue being 27 years old working at the car wash, and leave the producing to me, ok fella?
There's a good lad. :)
jtrouptv 3 years ago
You're not explaining what your doing properly, there are to many things going on - Tritons, Fantoms, Miko, Cubase, 3 monitors.....
You need to get rid of the excess hardware like the Triton, Fantom and PC, and just stick with the Miko. Otherwise you will have too many sounds and this will hinder your creativity.
phatpat100 3 years ago
You do realize that you're contradicting yourself right? How can MORE instruments with MORE samples hinder your creativity if you've got more samples to choose from?
Stick to washing cars buddy.

I did try the Neko/Miko but I didn't get that gut feeling to get it like I do with other stuff.
dazzelya 3 years ago
Someone asked what the' controller' was and you went on and called me a hater. Then you write the comment; "Okay, I respect that. Different people use different things." I just don't like vsti's I don't use them at all. Even though there are some very good ones out there. I just don't like working with them. The Neko/miko is powerful as hell but I just can't fall in love with vsti's. Doesn't make me a hater.
dazzelya 3 years ago
Ok...well just cuz you don't like it doesn't mean you have to bash my equipment.
Just cuz you don't like it, doesn't mean it's not a great piece of equipment.
You just do you, I'ma do me.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
I'm not sure why you are getting all defensive. I'm not and have not bashed your equipment nor have I said that because it wouldn't be the next thing I would get it's automatically crap.
How about you just chill out and get on with your thing. I'm reading your other comments and it's just plain silly.
dazzelya 3 years ago
Because you're not the first "oh it's just a $3000 computer and midi controller" opinionated person I've come across.
Again, if it's not for you, then it's not for you. Cool. Let's leave it at that.
jtrouptv 3 years ago

Used by world class producers like Timbaland, Polow, Lil Jon, Tim & Bob, The Trackmasters, etc.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
What are you plugging your triton and fantom into on the miko to record the audio? Did u put ur old interface in there or did u get a mixer?
DJKevWest 3 years ago
The miko has a Presonus Firebox soundcard built in. So it has 2 line in's in the front, 2 in the back, as well as s/pdif in/out in the back.
Triton is connected via analog line in, and the Fantom is connected via s/pdif line in, to the Miko.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
i won a MIKO thru PMP.. im unsure if i should keep it.. since I have a powerfull pc with many plugs... how did it help your flow> Where do you sequence.. on your pc, on the Miko both?
mdotmusic 3 years ago
My Miko replaced everything in my studio.
I still sequence on Cubase, loaded onto the Miko.
Once I get all of the buttons and knobs and faders configured to my programs and VST's, my workflow should fly.
I connected 2 external monitors to mine.
I know it's frustrating, but keep at it. It's a big learning curve, but it's worth it.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
So you got rid of your PC basically when making tracks?
mdotmusic 3 years ago
I do not have a PC in my studio at all. In fact, I'm typing this message on the PC that used to be in my studio.

Umm...honestly no. It's just whatever gets the job done for you. I LOVE Reason 4.0. It's real powerful, so I recommend that to everybody.
And honestly, I'm just now getting into virtual instruments, so I don't know a whole lot about them!
jtrouptv 3 years ago
how do you get everything midi'd together? did you guy a device or smething?
dopemcee 3 years ago
Everything is connected to the Miko. The Triton is connected thru regular Midi cables to the Miko. The fantom is connected via USB to the Miko. So that way, they can all talk to each other.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
Nothin, but the hits!!!

Thanx! I've just been so busy with these different projects, I haven't had time to edit the videos that I've been doing. But trust that I'm back, stay tuned!
jtrouptv 3 years ago
So you've got the Miko(seems like) and still using the Fantom? Cool beat though.
motionPush 3 years ago
probably using the fantom as a controller instead of those little ass OL keys.
x7tv 3 years ago
Yeah, that's the Miko. I still use the Fantom and the Triton. They are still great boards, and have ALOT of sounds that I still use.
I have everything midi'd together, so I can play ANY instrument from ANY set of keys. Sometimes I'm standing up, and I like to hit the fantom keys. Plus they don't have any aftertouch, and sometimes I like that.
Sometimes I'm sitting down, and like to use the Triton keys, and play with the ribbon or the joystick.
The Miko and Triton both have aftertouch.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
Ayo what piece of instrument is the device that your playing thats in front of you..what kind of midi controller is that?
Blackwiz 3 years ago
It's called a Miko. Basically a pc and midi controller in a 'box' Costs around 3 grand.
dazzelya 3 years ago
lol...all that and so much more! I love you Miko haters!
jtrouptv 3 years ago
You're definitely doing well for yourself, considering all that equipment you own. Much props to you.
Blackwiz 3 years ago
Ahh, I don't own that much equipment. Only the bare necessities! :)
My collection is quite small for having been doing this for 5 years. I bought the Triton in 2003, the Fantom in 2006, and the MiKo in May of 2008.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
jtrouptv, that's one of the things I'm always amazed by with people comment about equipment. People seem to think you went to the store and purchased everything at once. LOL!!! I know people that say they can't afford equipment but you go to their home and they got every video game system and about 50 video games. LOL!!!
Debonair73 3 years ago
Lol yea well after looking at the price for the Miko, buying a lot of $50 video games still doesn't really add up to that. But i feel you. I plan on getting the Roland Fantom G8 soon and there are methods to buying expensive equipment.I'll prolly go to AMS and make 5 monthly payments, when i can afford it.
Blackwiz 3 years ago
That G8 is what, $3500? So $500 more than the Miko. And when you get tired of the sounds, what can you do with it? Buy the next $3500 keyboard, right?
The Miko I can just throw more VSTi's on it, or throw more plug-ins on it. Plus I can make new patches by cloning my existing keyboards and combining sounds.
When the miko gets old, I upgrade the Ram, an 8 core processor in it, and it's good as new.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
Yea I feel what you're saying, but my thing is I play the piano. I want to be in the music scene doing something(gospe) as far as making writing songs, creating mixes for songs or just making beats for gospel songs...or even being an audio engineer in the background. But still I play the piano and I plan to go to school to learn as much as i can. So the Roland Fantom would benefit me because I can take it where ever and just play the piano with crazy sounds and whatnot. Feel me?
Blackwiz 3 years ago
That's what I need and it works 4 me!
jtrouptv 3 years ago
Yea I feel you. Im gonna try and do some more research though. I wonder if its worth getting the Roland Fantom G8 over the X8 because the price difference is crazy.
But I can see how you would want the Miko. If I had all the money in the world, Id get all of it and learn it all and just enjoy it all...but wouldnt we all lol.
But you mention the whole playing drums on weighted keys..well you got quantize, right? But anyways, are the pads not good on the fantom g8?
Blackwiz 3 years ago
It's all in what your needs are. The Miko fit my needs. That's why I got it. Our needs may not be the same.
I do have quantize, but those weighted keys hurt my fingers! I don't like doing drums on pads. For me, it just doesn't feel comfortable.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
Crazy!!!
Debonair73 3 years ago
Just like Reason, the Fantom and Triton
jtrouptv 3 years ago
How does saying that make me a 'miko hater'?
dazzelya 3 years ago
Because you're speaking on something that you have no experience with. Your whole opinion is based on assumptions, not actual usage or facts.
If you had one and didn't like it, then I could understand. But as far as I know, you don't own one, haven't used one, so how can you say what it is or what it isn't, just by looking at it?
jtrouptv 3 years ago
hmmm...so whats ur opinion on it? Just curiuos.(if you have an opinion on it)
Blackwiz 3 years ago
It's a cool thing but I already have a pc and a controller. It has some cool features but I just don't see myself buying one. I'm much more of a multiple (hardware) workstation guy than an all in one box :) Could be a nifty device for producing on the road. The thing is that I don't like using vsti's. That's the main reason why I probably won't get one.
dazzelya 3 years ago
Okay, I respect that. Different people use different things. Some people don't like computers and swear by their MPC. Some people don't like hardware. Some people don't like VSTi's.
I happen to like both. For what I do, the MiKo works incredibly well for me. It may not work well for other people. Everybody doesn't have to work the same as everybody else.
jtrouptv 3 years ago
the main reason i wont get one anytime soon, cause i can buy a saturn for 5k, lets get real people. you cant tell me that you would rather have 5 keyboards, having to save on all of them every time , and fucking with all that midi shit.then to have mimik copy all of them into one box and go from there. dont hand me that vst bullshit. just say you cant afford it. i just did
grundyman26 3 years ago
I still don't quite understand this blatant hostility. Yes I would rather have 5 keyboards. If you know what you are doing, there are no issues with keyboards and cables. Saving etc. I'm building a commercial studio right now. Having several keyboards instead of just one unit is not only preference it's client friendly.
I cant afford it? I can and I am. Should be done in a couple months.
dazzelya 3 years ago
i have multiple hardware set up in the crib. the mpc2500, that i will never part with. a classic motif, and a tascam fw1884. running into sonar. and my quaters is small as hell. cant fit anything else in here, if i wanted to. Now all this shit cost big bucks, but for me to grab one piece that cost $5k is far fetched. and i hate vsts, all in ones. but this miko will solve all my space issues, and i know im not the only one that has this same problem
grundyman26 3 years ago
Why do you have to save on all your keyboards every time? Why would someone do that?
Everything should be saved in whatever DAW you're using to sequence. When I pull up Cubase, all my settings for all my keboards are automatically recalled.
