can we just paint pictures on paint and put them together in windows live movie maker and have that boot screen? if i can, tell me how to import it into the computers boot animation.
@Coolster8000 Not unless you can convert the video into a BMP strip. Windows will only use a BMP strip for the animation, no other format, so without converting it somehow, you can't.
If you're truly that comfortable in Paint, though, you can make the BMP strip yourself. Just create a 200x21000 image and draw out the animation frame-by-frame from top-to-bottom, noting that each frame should be 200x200 and the last 45 frames loop. Then save as a BMP.
@SatchStef As far as I know, there's no way to play a sound during the boot animation. After the animation is done and the computer's booted up, yes, you can change that sound, but there's no way to play a sound DURING the animation. As for the graphics, if you can find the animation you want on YouTube, you can download it with the Easy YouTube Video Downloader addon for Firefox (or savevid dot com if you don't have Firefox) and follow this tutorial to make a boot animation from it.
@SatchStef Or, if you want, you can send me a direct message with the video/animation you want to use and I can make one for you when I have some free time.
@rjbrunker Like I said, inbox me a message with the details. JPEGs are not animated, so in the message please indicate what kind of animation you want.
@psyauto You really want to donate? Thanks :) . I can't post links here, but I'll send you a message with a link to donate to my PayPal if you like. Thanks again :D .
@BobLam0127 You're a bad troll. But yes, you can use whatever color you want. It'll just be ugly against the black background (the newer version of BootUpdater that came out after I made this tutorial allows you to change the background, though, so go ahead!).
@mehultw Well, you can do that in After Effects by choosing Effects->Color Correction->Hue/Saturation, clicking "Colorize", and then changing the hue/saturation values to whatever color you want.
@IceMetalPunk :thnx a lot, ur awesome, because of ur tutorial i'm able to dvelope original alienware m17x boot animation thnx a lot, & i'll not forget to tag u when i'll upload it :D
I was wodnering, is it possible to go longer than the one hundred and some frames? I have a spinning GIF with 300 frames, I want to to run smoothly and loop at least once, is this possible?
@fuckitrandomname Nope. Windows has a strict limit on what it will load and what it won't. So it must be exactly 105 frames. But you can always just speed up the animation to make it fit in 105 frames...
@GlitchMasterSonic No, it doesn't. Vista's boot animation works differently (using 4 PNGs instead of 105 BMPs). But I've already created my own program to change Vista's boot logo. I can't post links in comments, but I'll PM you the link to it.
@thugangel150 I think because it's older it's not showing up in the search. Go to my gallery and you'll find it there (go to any of my submissions and click "View Gallery" in the right-hand column).
hey thanks for the help man ill check urs out 1st and attempt to make my own...lol whats ur deviant art account? cause there are a ton of boot screens on there
ok and heres another question? im not that great with after effects, i made a boot animation of the umbrella corp logo but all i can make it do is spin, id like to make it so when it spins the white part of the logo disconnects from the rest spins on its own and the goes back together at the end of the rotation of the whole logo, any ideas how i might accomplish this?
@thugangel150 If you just want an Umbrellacorp animation, I have one on my DeviantArt account. If you want to make one yourself, start by creating the white parts and the red parts in separate layers in Photoshop, then import the PSD into After Effects. Make both layers 3D, then you can animate their Z-position (depth) individually to create the separation.
Can someone tell me how to extract images from the Alienware "All Powerful" screensaver into the frames needed for the boot animation? I've searched and searched with no luck...
@casper2049 The only way I can think of is to use a screen recorder. But check your inbox; I think someone's already put it up on YouTube, so I can just rip it from there if it's the one you're talking about.
why doesn't win7bootupdater work on mine at first it worked fine after when i accidentaly deleted it and i redownloaded it again on the coderforlife website and try to run it and nothing, and when i go to task manager and run it again (even in admin) its there but after a few seconds it disapears WHY? PLEASE someone help me.....
@WayoftheFoster Absolutely not. XP uses a completely different boot screen system. But there's a program called Stardock Bootskin that will change it for you. Google it.
@TheJpdudeman You should be able to. It seems Cinema 4D can export directly as an After Effects Composition (AEC), and since 3DS Max can export as a standard video file, you should be able to import it just fine. Just keep in mind the 7-second, 15fps, 200x200px limitations when creating your animation.
If you use the 200x113 comp to get the widescreen ratio, when you're finished you'll need to drag that comp into a 200x200 black comp before rendering. Make sure the settings for the 200x200 comp are the same except for the size (so 7 seconds, 15fps).

Also
alienware screensavers are made from instantStorm java screensaver.
instantStorm (google)
just download the editor and use that. you should be able to extract the frames for an ytype of java based screensaver
boot animation for windows 7, must be 200 x 200 per frame and the total bitmap is 200 x 21000 at 24 bit depth

If you use the 200x113 comp to get the widescreen ratio, when you're finished you'll need to drag that comp into a 200x200 black comp before rendering. Make sure the settings for the 200x200 comp are the same except for the size (so 7 seconds, 15fps).
