You might appreciate this video recorded in NYC on an independent music television show called Video Music Box. A bunch of NYC-based hip-hop artists (Lauryn Hill, Method Man, Jeru the Damaja, etc) got together to talk about police brutality in their neighborhoods with Crazy Sam.

When you think about it...all the people who make money off of and exploit an artist and their work--turning it into a cariacature of what the artist intended. Some decide to ride that bull all the way to the end and make as much as they can--some learn to like the bucking and falsity of that bullride--but some, like Lauren--get off the bull--it's not real--its pimping and Lauren simply decided she would not participate--not allow men (the industry) pimp her. We love and can respect that girl.

This is a perversion of the style in which the song was composed. It's like trying to perform a rap song with the Vienna Boy's Choir. Don't do it people. It's certainly not tasteful. Respect the genres.

So are you saying all the other styles, such as rock and country are wrong as well? You may not agree with the style, but I don't think you should try to make it look like change is bad. I've heard this song in so many different styles besides this one, and personally I enjoy listening to everyone's creativity. But if you like the old-fashioned (which is also great to listen to) that's what you like, but I don't think u should make it sound like people are being disrespectful to the original
