It's confirmed - Feingold and Schumer, two Jewish democratic ZIONIST senators, both indicated that they will vote for Mukasey, their coreligionist, despite the firm democratic stance against such a nomination. With the Jewish senators' support, Mukasey is now pretty much one step away from getting the AG position.

I will probably not say anything to convince you otherwise but alas I will just add that Judge Mukasey is a man commited to the rule of law. He will stand up to the president if the president does something unlawfull. You will not always agree with Judge Mukasey - but he will earn your respect.

Why is it the judges always refer to the rule of law while at the same time grinding up innocent lives with it? I have personally seen the rule of law used to destroy the lives of individuals charged with non-violent drug crimes. The Fed. Gov. is out of control, and judges stand by and allow it, no, participate in it. No, you probably can't say anything to convince me otherwise.

I am sorry that you feel that way about judges but they have to follow strict sentencing guidlines when there is a conviction for a drug crime. I hope you will follow Judge Mukasey's term at the Department of Justice and I believe he will earn your respect.

Judge Mukasey is a no-nonsense, hard working man of extreme integrity. As I said previously, you will not agree with him on all issues most likely, but I think if you are an intelligent respectable person which you seem to be by your comments you will come to recognize that his opinions are well thought out. He deserves a chance to earn your respect and I think he will do just that.

All of these guys are no-nonsense types. That's not the problem. They set the policies and then enforce them without regard to the damage they are doing. The US sentencing guidelines are unconstitutional. Their application largely removes judicial discretion in sentencing. Like I said, the fed. gov. is out of control. It's not just a matter of respect for the Mukasey, it's having laws that can be respected and be respectful and most of all follow the Constitution.

Because it is a more truthful and correct answer. It takes into consideration that the answer is to the best of one's understanding with the knowledge that there may be something that one is unaware of. Being too certain about one's own knowledge can also be closed-minded and reflect hubris. When people in public office are dead certain about information, it is not necessarily an indication of strength or good character but can also be an indication of arrogance and closed-mindedness.

Speaking carefully is not always obfuscation...although you are right that it is important to try to understand intent so that obfuscation and evasion (see the former AG's testimony for overwhelming examples of this) is taken into consideration.

Leahy only asked if there exists a commander in chief over-ride to alow torture. He should have asked... if such a torture over-ride exists, is it constitionally legal? Very sloppy questioning by Leahy. He might as well have asked what Mukasey's favorite flavor of ice cream is and it would shed equal light on Mukasey's legal views.
