we are formally taught the language from junior to senior high sch. so how can ur "hokkien" compare to us? hokkien in singapore is in its infancy. very basic form. mostly coz ur government has banned its speech since the 1960s. most of u don't learn it, much less speak it. i wouldn't say all but most singaporeans can't use the language properly for daily speech. if ur hokkien is that superior than don't watch our taiwanese shows and sing our songs. eh? i didn't criticize sg. if its not a nice place to live in i wouldn't have lived there for 7 yrs. i am talking abt the so called hokkien u guys speak. u add malay and english words and the grammar is all out of order. in taiwan, we do add mandarin words to our taiwanese. not coz we're less proficient, it's coz some taiwanese verbs & phrases are archaic and not really applicable in daily speech.

hey, i'm from taiwan and have been living in sg for a few yrs now. sg hokkien sucks. i don't even consider it as part of a chinese dialect coz u singaporeans can't even speak it properly. u add malay and english words to cover up ur lack of proficiency in the language. this makes it all the more disgusting. don't tell me it's unique, coz most taiwanese won't find that so. most of the time when singaporeans come to taiwan they speak rubbish dialect which really amuses us. LOL.
