@indianmusicdanceluvr yup! Rukmini Devi has passed but it the school is now under the careful guidance of a former pupil of hers, Leela Samson, who is an excellent administrator.

I'm a graduate from Kalapeetham Kalakshetra style dance in California... My teacher was Rukmini Devi's student.

Am happy to say that I was a student of Kalakshetra and it has definitely changed over the years!!!

Kalakshetra School is still there but under government 'supervision'?!?!!?
When I visited last in 2000 I was talking to to Smt Krishnaveni, who was principal then, about this & she wasn't happy at all.
