Of course there are no discrepancies. The Quran states that if one part contradicts another part, the latter writing is to be taken as true. Basically, it abrogates itself. Consider how in English we use words like sunrise and sunset.Using these words does not mean we are saying the Sun actually rises or sets.

The verses were revealed.The Prophet taught them to his companions.They implemented it in their lives.Once they fulfilled the revealed passages,new verses were sent.

So the Quran was revealed in stages for making it for the people's sake.Even though Allah had the power of revealing them in one go.
