  • Ooi! The self-mirror cracks because it is hard to reflect on ourselves especially when we know everybody knows it and we know that they know. That is the tricky part. Our egoistic ways run very deep.

  • That comes from a need for approval, when you drop it you can change a lot faster.

  • We should join a Dharma center for Dharma and so we should put our energy to learn and practice. We didn't join Dharma center to engage in politics.

  • Sorry to say, there are many, many Dharma practitioners in Dharma centers around the world are really bad advertisements for the Buddha, Lama Tsongkhapa and their Lama. In fact, Lord Buddha predicted that his teachings will die from within his own followers. These are thought-provoking facts we should motivate on to be the best Dharma student we can be.

  • If we really practise Dharma, then we should show everyone the Dharma way, we should change our mind thinking, transform ourselves......And i do see alot people in my country, who they claim they practise Dharma, do prayers everyday, but in actual fact, their attitude still the same and never change.....So sad to see them, and really a bad advertisement of Dharma like what Rinpoche said here.....

  • Redlatties, it does take time for people to understand the true essence of Dharma, this is where we should come in and guide them along, just like Rinpoche, he

s so kind to guide us here, and never ever give up on us......

  • How sad that many still do not really understand the true essence of the dharma for if they do their actions will complement their practice.

  • redlatties: Don't be sad. Rinpoche said that we should practice harder because of such people, so maybe with our own transformation, we can change them.

  • I believe the message is Action Speak Louder than Words, if we practise dharma, we should practise it well, and hold it to heart, and dont just say i practise dharma, at the end, your attitude still the same......Transform, Commit and also Do it.....and always have a happy mind and keep away your ego....Thanks Rinpoche for reminding us......

  • Dear Rinpoche thank you so much for this scolding!

  • This is to always remind us to always represent our Guru and Dharma well and so that we dont be a bad influence to others. CHANGE is the word.

  • Here again, Rinpoche has given a simple and logic explaination about lazy people being a bad advertisement for Dharma and themselves. Thank you Rinpoche.

  • We cant keep saying the mantra I DON:T KNOW ! !! What I want to achieve , am I doing the right things to get it ( dharma ).

We cant get , because we do not give what is necessary!.

  • Am I a bad advertisement for my Guru and the Dharma? Something to reflect on. Am I a bad advertisement for whatever I want to do ?

  • Its a message of effort, consistency and trying , if we want A , we must create the causes similar to A . We cant be doing B and expect A.

From meditation or contemplation , we get a firm idea, we mix our mind with the dharma and for realization to arise. When we act our of our realization then we get an attainment.

  • Advertising our inability to hold vows is a big no no , and brings the dharma down.

Everything our teacher teaches us is for us to contemplate.

  • Comment: Without holding our vows , which is the practice of moral discipline we will b created the causes to go to the lower realms . And if we have vows and do not hold it , and we broadcast it then its a terrible bad karma collecting session.

  • Since I attended the Lam Rim , I learnt for us to practice purely and sincerely to the best of our ability is essential for our spiritual development . Otherwise whatever we do has little merit and power.

If we develop renunciation for samsara thats when we actually accrue true merit. Else accumulation of merit is very slow , all we accumulate is mostly karma.

  • Say one thing and act another way ( opposite to dharma ) how do we develop our good qualities?

  • Definitely and as ambassadors for our beliefs, centres, Gurus we have to conduct ourselves well.

  • this is a very important reminder to people to not act recklessly especially when they are representing an organization or a group of people as every small step they make, other people will see them as representing the organization. Common sense, but how many people would actually apply it?

  • when you act badly, you not only damage your own reputation, but also the reputation of people around you, your family, your loved ones, your organization and everyone else who associates with you. Therefore, it is important to have awareness at all times to behave in a good manner, not just for ourselves but everyone else around us. neonlama(dot)com

  • when we act in a way that causes other people to be unhappy directly, or in a way where you just do not care about others, it shows that the organization or community that we belong to is bad as we represent them directly or indirectly, whether or not we choose to be. Therefore, it pays to be always on your toes. for more teachings: neonlama(dot)com

  • if you break your vows and do something bad, dont tell it to others as an excuse. it's bad because it sends a subtle message to others telling them that they can do it...

  • A lot of people are a huge misrepresentation of what they want to represent. The trick here is not to run away but to change in order to represent what they represent correctly. Thats the entire gist of this talk.

  • i love this one. it really makes me think about the things i did in the past and how i want to be in the future.

  • all you need is more awareness in whatever you are doing. If you have been doing Buddhist practices all along, that should be the result of your practice: being more aware of things and people around you. Else what would it be? neonlama(dot)com

  • An important wake up call for me who loves to make excuses in many things in life, including dharma practises. Which hurting me, the more excuses i made for myself. Rinpoche, Thank you.

  • ditto.

  • I agree. This video is a very powerful wake up call for people who consider themselves to be Buddhist but whose actions do not reflect so. If you call yourself a Buddhist and harm people around you, what kind of Buddhist are you? it's a huge misrepresentation.

  • I have placed this on my favourites list under - "Any teachings that I should listen to again and again."

  • I feel that I should too! I am constantly slacking off at what I do and become a very bad representation for what I really am and people always get the wrong ideas. Should be my alarm tone so that I hear it everyday. haha.
