  • Ios is on a few carrier compare that with android....im not join with greedy att for i phone... My carrier had android who do you think i'm rolling with? Your companies make it difficult for the customer to own your device unless they agree to being charged to dollar for phone them for those scam rates phone carriers charge your nuts... Metro PCs and android ftw...

  • Open = Open Source ... Open ≠ Windows!

  • @everythingsround he was talking about hardware and software integration.

  • @engshex So 100% right

  • the part on 8:15 is better

  • Ilovemandy, android will be the same as ios cuz ios copies them all the time, multitasking notification bar, etc.

  • @TGSWARFARE1 apple copying ???? who made a multi-touch smart phone in the first place

who made the idea of app-store

who make use of the big touch screen and make the first touch tablet that every company start to copy it

i am an android user but u must admit without apple u will never seen this android Os in the market

we was stuck with symbian and windows phone non creative products

apple inspire the whole industry to produce smart phones bases on their new definition of smart phone

  • @engshex

Lg Prada was a touch screen first

    There were tablets before iPad

  • @TGSWARFARE1 what the fuck are you talking about ? apple made the first best touchscreen phone and android is the one that copied them

  • OMG i was half way through and I thought it was a lady...

    Sorry Steve R.I.P.

  • This man should die oh hes already dead.

  • People are dumb

  • Around the time Windows 95 came out, the PC makers stopped including their own user interfaces and settled on the standard Windows Explorer (although Microsoft had its own "Bob" for Windows 95 which was a total failure). Hopefully Android phone makers will do the same and include only the stock user interface with Ice Cream Sandwich instead of Motoblur or HTC Sense. They definitely will eventually settle on the stock Android interface, it's just a matter of time.

  • Steve Jobs is right about the fragmentation issue (with HTC sense, Motoblur, etc). And I am an Android user and I like Android. PC makers used to do the same thing. Different brands of PC would come with different interfaces. Packard Bell PCs came with Packard Bell Navigator, for example. People who didn't like that could disable it (I had a Packard Bell PC and I hated Packard Bell Navigator), and you can disable Sense or Motoblur on Android phones too if you are rooted.

  • October 5th, 2011. The worst day ever. We will miss you Steve.

  • @DudeItsTech2 No, July 22nd was the word day ever. I'll miss my friends.

  • @DudeItsTech2 don't worry. hes probably been reincarnated into a maggot inside a worms gluteus maximus.

  • I buy electronic products depending on how fast and good the hardware is, and what the software is like. I don't buy shit because it has an apple on it.

  • Ok sure, Apple. Keep telling "the customer" what it wants. Because people love being homogenized and stripped of individuality.

Just because Apple has tapped into one thing that a lot of people want doesn't mean they know what everyone wants. There will always be people who would rather have variety and choice. Android is succeeding because it embraces those people, instead of ignoring them. This is why Jobs's dream of a singular, universal user experience will never be a reality.

  • @F1NGER "...Ok sure, Apple. Keep telling "the customer" what it wants..." Really? I'll wager that not another person in the world has the same apps, songs, contacts etc. that I have but at least 100 million people are wearing the same Levis I ware. I'm fine with both.

  • @tomintroy But it's still the same phone, tethered to the same OS, the same manufacturer, the same app store... You might as well say, "Why would you want to shop anywhere but Wall-Mart? Their stores have everything you'll need!"

For people who want to choose from a variety of phones, decide what software they want on it, and pick who they buy that software from, there's Android.

  • "iOS is closed"

Uh, it is o.0 I have to jailbreak my damn ipod to do anything with it lol.

  • For free 10$ gift card get an app called "apptrailers" and type In the bonus code " sokker92" while in the app to get your points which you then redeem for the 10$ gift card, I've done this before when I got it and it works .

  • It was almost childish the way he dissed other companies.

  • @Metallica2131 Look at microsofts ceo, Steve Balmer.

  • 2:25, oh what a mess it will be, to have 4 different app stores to CHOOSE from, as opposed to being locked into one Apple brand app store... what a mess for Apple this will be

  • Reminds me of the days of the browser war. Meanwhile, reality has caught up with the claims of Steve Jobs, as Android device sales has eclipsed iOS device sales. There's a good reason for that. Try to connect an iOS device to anything that doesn't bear an Apple logo, and chances are it won't work. Plug in an Android device, and chances are that it does. So much for the "integrated" approach.

  • @tk050305cnx You know why Android sells more? Because they have so many shitty cheap phones that parents gives to their little kids. An iPhone is a quality phone. however there are some great android phones but most off the sold ones are those cheap shit ones

  • @Xithz Your arguement has no substance to back your claims. Meaning your claims are invalid. You have no programming intelligence. If you understood how Andoid phones operate compared to iPhones, you would have never made such an ignorant statement towards tk050305cnx... You seem to be a brainless consumer that feeds off of trends.

  • @Xithz Well I have an Android because an iphone is beyond my income. You elitist cunt.

  • @tk050305cnx You can even take it further. Apple is so locked down with so many thing. Proprietary Ports/Cables. To be and Apple developer you have to PAY Apple. And any apps you make get "Certified". Plus much more.

  • @tk050305cnx

iPhone/iPad satisfaction rates are head and shoulders over the copycats. Same for the Mac.

    There's a reason for that.

Same reason that you don't need anti-virus software on any Apple product.

But now, like Windows sufferers, iPhone copycat users have to worry about trojans and fake apps, etc. on their *phones* of all places.

Just do a search for 'android fake apps'.

Wait...let me check: YES!! You can you get Norton on your crapdroid phone!

It's like Windows, but on a phone!!!!!

  • I really liked the part after 5:00

  • @mazur87 I really like the part after you died. AND IT RHYMES!

  • this guy's voice is appealing to the ear

  • Look, the word "BETTER" is relative. It's no different than any other product, as some will curse Chevy, while others will swear by them...Valvoline vs Castrol...Nike vs RB...Prada vs DKNY, etc, etc...

For most posts and videos on Youtube that relate to cellphones, you'd think this is a live or die matter. Folks come out swingin', and are ready for a fight @ the drop of a hat! haha Actually is't sad.

Whatever floats your boat, and to each their own. *sigh

  • Android & ios have turned into an east vs west gang war! All of us who love & enjoy these times of tech advancement, should be estatic to live in this era of so many brilliant pioneers! They push each other to create so many wonderful, & exciting things that we consumers get to witness & enjoy! Thank you, to every indivual who slaves to bring us their amazing visions, to simplify our lives! And Steve, there is no doubt, you were one of the greatest!

  • Steve Jobs was an expert in my senses. But, I believe there is a large base of people who enjoy the fact that Android comes in so many flavors & varietys. I love change & uniqueness & thats why I love Android! Its for the visionaries & dreamers who want control of things. RIP Steve, you were brilliant, but your emotions were human, & you loved & fought for your own creative products & ideas!

  • that said! Steve would be missed by people who know technology for delivering great jokes year after year!

  • Steve.. Open=Microsoft?

  • @maniachef windows can be run on many comps, mac os cannot

  • To be honest the only reason I'd buy an IPhone is because there isn't a phone on Android that has a finish better than the Iphone 4. That phone is amazing before you turn it on, but average afterwards.

  • The microsoft case he makes for separating software and hardware goes back to a time when processors were weak, but know with advanced java VMs, powerfull processors, and optimized jit compilations, hardware and software CAN be seperated today, and it is without lag to the user experiance.

  • lol Why does this video go on so long?

  • For just everyday using i prefer osx and ios, but for anything technical like communicating with other devices or customising things, windows and android. They're all brilliant, well done for using them.

  • An 8 minute picture go fuck yourself

  • What was that at the end?

  • to android and specially f-ing nokia users get iphone use it for few days and you will understood that you dont need anything more. what a stupid debate. If you need cheaper one thats ok go with it but dont blur me here how some android or win is friendly to use because i tried them. And to fucking nokia-you own me like 700 because i got your nonsence so called "smart phone" torture device they need to put a warning on the box:Can cause mental seizures.fuck flash who makes nowdays flash pages?

  • @klutch20 i had an iphone and the day it broke or rather exploded was the happiest day of my life because that day i got an htc...and i havent regret it since

  • @Dfulton46 the happiest day of your life was when you got a new phone? *shudder*

  • This is not a rant it's the truth

  • which keynote was this from?

  • @GetPatriotized It's from an Apple financial results conference call, not a keynote.

  • @Speedygi81 Not quite - If you were to do some research, you'll find that the majority of Smartphone users aren't even aware of the existence of Flash, let alone it's purpose. Even if they discover what it is, the sound of a dying technology thats being swiftly replaced by HTML 5, doesn't sound very appealing.

  • @Lufty25 Oh great, I've reached THAT part of the Internet again, where n00bs like you are actually let out of your cages. Can't even type English right for one thing.

  • Open is not, that it is everywhere. Open means that anyone can modify it and contribute to it like Wikipedia. The Fragmentation mentioned means "variety" and "choices" for the market. Nobody wants a field with only ONE type of flower. How many blenders, how many coffee machines, how many cars, how many types of bastards in Wall Street

  • google doesn't have the formula like apple- apple was founded by a genius

  • haha have fun with your big app tray ios, android is open source which allows to more development. this is what leads to htc, motorola, samsung, and lg to create their own ui. apple has more apps because they only develop for one system. android leaves you with choice of devices. apple gives you one device a year, that isnt very different from the last.

  • Fuck android

  • @uPeartech

    fuck you

  • Comment removed

  • android WILL overtake iOS its just a matter of time

  • Steve Jobs is Dead!!!!!! Bill Gates is Alive!

  • I tested both systems to and in my opinion iOS + iOS Devices just work better!

  • This may sound a bit stupid but don't they both make calls surf the web and take pictures everything else is irrelevant

  • Every iPhone works the same, yep, we get that, thats why every iPhone that is released is around £500 and then when the next one is released it goes down to maybe £200

  • @jxtevi People say this all the damned time, and there's no actual sources for it.

  • but its true that android apps shows "force close" ....

  • Hes delusional, Android is OPEN , iphone is closed....its pretty fucking simple

  • Windows is open?

  • can afford iPhone = buying galaxy nexus

  • @thebirdman0 they're the same price idiot

  • Steve balmer

  • @amontenegrof steve balmer is a piece of shit

  • 8:14 to the end is the best part!

  • It sounds a lot like what Microsoft was saying when developers were first starting to criticize Internet Explorer. "Fragmented" is just another word for competition and frankly, if Apples developers can't handle more than one platform, It's not the fault of the market.

  • Steve making decisions based on "my needs" is like saying there should be only one model of car that everyone will want. There are lots of makes and models that appeals to different people. If Jobs allows one thing on my device and ban another then he shouldn't be surprised to see competition that offers the exact opposite. RIP

  • hate iphone = cant afford iphone

  • @No1More1Mr1Nice1Guy1 Yeah, sure, it's that simple.

  • what's up with the last three minutes... trim it off. Anyways, apple is great, but it is limited. I have the iPod and iPhone 4s. I just wish iTunes wasn't so dumb. I hate iTunes. It makes me so mad. But the devices are sweet. There's really no point in this debate really. People are different, and with that comes different products.

  • I've been thru my fair share of android devices, rooted and unrooted, but I switched to the iPhone 4 and haven't had any problems. If a lot of you android users do some research and some good down to earth thinking you will see android will be almost the same as iOS in possibly less than a year. Android central and XDA still send me emails every about android news, sign up for the news letters and you will see for yourself....

  • Also, i think Steve wouldn't have a problem with Windows Phone 7 as MS have actually developed an OS that doesn't look like iOS.

  • Everything he said is true. But after that, its up to the user to decide what they prefer. Fragmentation of Android is ridiculous. That's my opinion, as a user its great due to all the customisation, but horrible for a developer. Google could easily use their muscle to bring Android in line but they have not as yet.

  • I've used both devices and iOS has a rep of stability that is not deserved. While my Android has had apps crash.. my ios device has many to es as well. I much prefer the interface of Android.

  • he is afraid the android is better than the ios

  • Just to shut the fanboys up - I've used Android devices for years. Now I've moved onto an iPhone, and the truth is - iOS is much better for the average user. Android "openess" means absolutely squat to you everyday Joe who goes out and buys a phone or tablet.

  • @MY5TCrimson There's more power users out there than you think.

  • @MY5TCrimson Openess is not going to be apparent in a product because it's an ideal, a philosophy. But if you could reasonably consider all the advantages of an open platform versus a closed one, we end users will surely benefit in the long run. One example would be the choice of Flash or the choice of different handsets (with different ergonomics). Openess ultimately increases choice for the customers and that, I think, does not mean squat...

  • @MY5TCrimson lol applefanboy do the world a favor go die one less fanboy and met jobs in hell too

  • @MY5TCrimson

    u suck dick go die

  • it comes down to this if you need a computer that can work buy an apple, but as far as phones go android and is better than apples iphone, but i can tell you this to do the work i need to to every day, i am glad i have an imac, i would be out of business, if i had a pc.

  • @mauriceraffoul

How does that even make sense, how can't you do the same work on a PC?

  • @Avenaur Macs are 200% more reliable than Windows. I work with Macs Professionally and I own a Personal Macbook Air. Sent from my Self-Built Gaming Tower

  • He's Scared.

  • Android FTW

  • @sunZnotBull WHAT YOU SAID DIDN'T MAKE MUCH SENSE......EVERY IPHONE IS THE THE SAME.....WHAT YOU JUST SAID FOR EXAMPLE IS THAT ESSENTIALLY ALL PEOPLE ARE THE SAME BECAUSE WE ARE HUMAN. AND THAT BECAUSE WE ARE ESSENTIALLY HUMAN WE ARE NOT DIVERSE. HA AND BESIDES IN THE VIDEO ABOVE STEVE JOBS JUST SAID THAT ANDROID HAS MANY VERSIONS.....JUST LIKE HUMANS COME IN VARIETY. HOPE YOU GOT THE ANALOGY ...OH AND IM NOT YELLING I JUST LIKE TO TYPE IN CAPS LOCK!

  • the only problem with IOS is that it does not have flash

  • @savinon07 and theres also no expandability or personalization the usier interface is so dumbed down to the point of being agonizing to use and the number one problem with ios is it's made by apple

  • @savinon07 as of a while ago, adobe has stopped making flash for mobile devices which means there will be NO flash on future android phone and other. ONlz HTML which is alot better!

  • @savinon07 It has HTML 5.

  • @ReptileTunes sorry i like iOS BUT HTML STINKS; ALL THE GOOD VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET ARE IN FLASH.

  • @savinon07 Don't know if you realise it, but HTML 5 runs flash videos.

  • i used both, and for IOS is better than android

  • @savinon07 based on what grounds is it better?

give me an educated reason why, im sure yout can't because your simply wrong android is 10x better than ios in every way shape and form

  • @sideways88turbo its easier to use; more simple. Even when you make voip calls quality its better on iOS i used then both, voip calls don't work well on android.

  • @savinon07 yes ios is indeed simpler

but with simplicity comes a very locked in place user interface that gives little to no options for visual expandability also your locked in to 1 piece of hardware and only the apps apple feels acceptable for you to use.

with android your given an extremely wide range of devices to fit the users hardware needs along with that if there is litterally anything you don't like about it you can simply change it in a few minutes if u know what ur doing

  • @sideways88turbo

Interesting debate. Elaborate on your claim. what do you mean your given a wide range of devices. Even with android. You would still have the same phone/OS as the guy next to you with the an android device because they are essentially the same platform. It is just that it may have different apps obviously

  • @sideways88turbo well yes you have more freedom when it comes to software but the remember you can jailbreak iOS witch its not illegal anymore. if you are brave (crazy) enough

you install an illegal app through cydia that lets you get any app free. Don't get me wrong android is good, but in my case i prefer iOS its more smooth, easy to use, and more useful, to me, but thats just me. I still use them both. if we think about our economy every time you buy android most of the money goes to china.

  • i wonder if steve jobs knew he'd be getting into this much competition (especially with google) when he started working on the iPhone

  • Reality distortion field in effect. That being said iPhone is 400x better than the average android handset. I think Motorolla is putting out great devices though, lest I become one of those blind fanboys.

  • Having owned both devices, I'd say IOS blows Android out of the water.

  • i think both companies have problems. if apple came out with a few more models and maybe some good themes and features like android, id be pleased. and it would be great for google to have all companies manufactuing android devices to be more unified, android would be perfect. both companies have weakspots. bottom line is quit arguing and work toward a solution.

  • This sounds like a very biased point of view. Sorry Apple is shit to me. And the fact Jobs has to attack the other competition to me says he was threatened. No wonder now IOS is on the decline. RIP Steve Jobs and Apple!

  • Just put it this way: iOS is stable, closed and hard to hack. Android is only stable on the powerful phones (framerate issues on the less powerful phones), it's open and easy to hack.

If you want to modify your smartphone's software because you are not happy with the way the original version, go ahead, but do not bash iOS for being perfect already.

  • @ReptileTunes iOS is only stable on powerful phones too, point is: there are no low-end iPhones. A $500 Android-device isn't less stable than an iPhone.

Also Android is actually really difficult to hack. That's why Android survived the Pwn2Own contest, unlike the iPhone 4. (Rooting is not hacking/cracking)

Also, there's no such thing as a perfect system. Some like iOS' interface, some like HTC Sense and some like vanilla android. It all comes down to personal taste.

  • @Sjoerdd93 You know that the only phones that run iOS are iPhones right?

  • @ReptileTunes Yeah, that was kinda my point. iOS runs only on iPhones, there are no low-end iPhones. Meaning there are no low-end iOS devices.

That's why it's unfair to compare an iPhone to a low-end Android device. You should compare it with a Galaxy SII, Galaxy Nexus, HTC Sensation or something like that.

  • @Sjoerdd93 Then you are right about it being a personal preference :)

  • @ReptileTunes Yeah, I believe people should stop acting like their Mobile OS is a religion.

You should just use what you would like the best. I see very legitimate reasons why you would prefer iOS. Just like I see legitimate reasons to prefer Blackberry or WP7.

You should use the one that fits you the best, and that just differs for every person. Personally I'm an Android user, but that doesn't mean all other products are useless :)

  • @Sjoerdd93 wow, a reasonable human

  • @Sjoerdd93 Android sucks

  • @Sjoerdd93 Best reply ever. Congrats on breaking the mold of fanboys. I'm an iOS and Android user and love them both for different reasons, and need them both for different reasons.

  • Well something is true, something not....

  • im sorry all i heard is "listen to me and make me more money"

  • @th3nugget97 what I posted had nothing to do with your response ....your response is invalid!

  • I have both an iPod Touch and an LG Optimus V. I love Android for the diversity and how almost everybody's phone is different if you look to the person right next to you. It's great that it's open and that you could download anything you want on it. iOS however is very clean and sleek. I lov the devices and still think they are amazing. Still though people, you could jailbreak and then forget about restrictions.

  • iOS SUCKS!

  • @freedom0speech u s**k IOS rocks

  • @Aswin1235

I have an iPad. Trust me, it sucks. My GF has an adroid based tablet that was only $200, and it can do one thousand times more than this Apple toy. I can't believe I paid $800 for this peice of shit. I'll never listen to a brainwashed Apple cultist ever again. It costs 4 times as much, and only does about 1/8th what everything else can do. But they have good marketing, so they convince you that you want it. You are a lemming who can't think for yourself. Sorry.

  • @freedom0speech i also tell u tat i have ipad 2(32 GB)

  • 100 different versions of Android? What the hell was he smoking?

  • @jimv1983 He was talking about manufacturer skins of Android

  • @ThisIsBillyH I realize that but it still isn't even close to 100. There is stock, HTC Sense, Samsung TouchWiz, Motorola MotoBlur, whatever LG calls their skin and maybe a few others. And even those aren't really different versions of the OS just modifications. Any app that takes advantage of a new feature in a version of Android will work on ALL phones using that version regardless of the manufacturer skin that is on it.

  • @jimv1983 probably crack

  • Whoa, whoa!!! I know I am not reading that people are disrespecting Steve's rhetoric. You people need to show some respect and understand exactly what he's talking about...

  • I think a lot of the reason that Steve did this is because he was worried that if any company can over throw Apple, it would be Google.

  • @pudgieluv No. He already stated before they choose the technology that will dominate in the future. HTML5 is starting to dominate Flash. Apple is starting to slowly become the future.

  • @TragicTopGun50 I'm aware he said that, But so does google, Hint's full HTML 5 integration into Chrome already. Android now outsells Iphone as well these days, So I can see why he would be, Again Just because he says he will choose the technology that will dominate in the future doesn't mean someone won't beat him to the punch... Like MS did back in the day. Google is a major player, Don't kid yourself my friend.

  • Comment removed

  • @TragicTopGun50 microsoft have also fully suported html5... the future is one thing, but what of those who can't afford the future, what of those in third world countries, apple seems to forget about those type of people

  • @pudgieluv That's because Google copies Apple. He's also mad at them because the 2 companies were business partners for years, and Google decided to compete with Apple. But no one is worse than Samsung: they copied Apple's Smart Covers and made "Smart Cases" that look exactly the same. That's the worst.

  • @GUMMSHOW ... Andriod is linux... think ... tell me who got cut and paste with there new os... apple. andriod is way of ahead of ios... way ahead... please.

  • @pudgieluv Google needs to figure out what kind of company they are they spent so much money on getting their networking site going and does anyone use it?

  • @easye1973 Oh they know... number 1 in advertising on the net around 80% of it... more money then facebook and ms combined there... google + is a project... google it. you think there care with youtube and ads in there pocket... not to mention android outselling IOS... lmao

  • "At least four app stores!! That customers must search among to find the app they want!"

Oh my god, customer choice! what a terrible idea!

  • @bigdizz1e I don't think that was the point. I THINK what he meant was: iOS: - Friend Suggests to Check out [App] - Go to AppStore - Download Android: - Friend Suggests to Check out [App] - Go to Android Market - Not There - Go to Amazon Market - Not There - Go to Another Store - Etc.
  • Well he has a point but quite frankly I thank god that android exists ...iOS is brilliant but it's like a jail cell for us rom chefs and free birds...it's restrictive....and it's con-formative....I don't want my phone looking like the guy next to me ..android equals diversity!!!

  • @SMOOTHDRAGON10 I agree with what your saying and I also chose droid but eventually my device not working properly FC and it rebooting itself drove me away from droid and although wp7 is like iphone in the fact that it looks like every other wp7 it atleast gives ya choices (keyboard no keyboard and different size screens or cameras) I can't ever go back. Especially with how smooth my integrated device is and its smoothness. I think jobs is right in the end.

  • @SMOOTHDRAGON10 You know it is legal to jailbreak a Iphones iOS, thus giving it diversity.

  • @SMOOTHDRAGON10 no iphone invented = no android today

  • @SMOOTHDRAGON10 You sound like a hippie but besides that I agree 100%!

  • @SMOOTHDRAGON10 how so? If i had an android, and you had an android, it would be the same OS, but probably on different devices. We would just have different settings and apps. Essentially we have the same platform. So I dont understand what "diversity" your talking about.

How can you mention diversity with a device that is mass produced? A little confused with your statement there. In order to be diverse you would have to design it yourself, no?

  • _|_ Boom !! O_o

  • oh fuck off

  • iphone fucking rules

  • Oh Steve, don't be so pissed because people other than your are making money from smartphones. Also open with android os is more about the opensource nature of the development and coding of the os which is very diffeent than the microsoft "open" model.

  • @MrDeathunicorn he wasn't mad that other people were making money, he was mad they made money by copying Apple design.

  • @Cyzthur yeah but apple copied nokia and android copied apple.. now android is copying wp7... have you used their new music app? I loved the stream from the cloud feature but swipe left and right instead of having to go back and choose artist or album is just like the zune... over all I think jobs was right and msft followed that integration method. the user experience is way better and I recommend people try the wp7 it really is fun.

  • @PRIMELINK20 lets not forget apple copied xerox for its gui and they copied microsoft on the tablet idea.... apple users seem to forget about that

  • @MrDeathunicorn and being unoriginal.

  • @MrDeathunicorn and for promoting a fragmented platform and characterizing Apple's platform as closed. As Steve says, Apple's goal is for it's platform to be highly integrated and well designed so the customer has the best possible experience using their products.

  • you can easily compare jobs to the late hitler.....both were as far away from reality as a person on lsd

  • is Steve Jobs KIDDING?!!?!?!?!!?!?!

  • Android isn't fragmented, it's open and flexible. iOS, on the other hand, is rigid and boring. Android is an open source operating system, while iOS is a closed source operating system. This is a fact that Steve couldn't argue against with the same rage he showed for Windows way back in the 90's... and the reason is, Apple has become the new Windows. At least when you measure all of the things about Windows that Steve used to claim were bad against the iOS and OSX of today it has.
