  • impress your girlfriend

    yeah that is very important

  • @nickinicoleification Or maybe even get one...

  • Imagine... That. "you are a...." you will ...." you want...." thats the right words to get inside the people attention... And Bert know how to use that word at best moment...

  • Does it have a piano touch?

  • @jackrob5 Yes, the MM6 have the initial touch. You can play with different intensity, but remember: the MM6 is a Synthesizer, not an arranger !!

    Best greetings from Italy

    Mike

  • @mikefox1974 Thanks a lot mike. I was convinced to buy it but this was my final condition. Thanks again!

  • @mikefox1974 ciao :D do you know if Yamaha made something like the mm6 with a better styles section? I like the sounds of mm6, midifile in/out and display, but I'd like a keyboard like the PSR 423 that sounds worse... mi spiego in italiano, mi piacciono i suoni della mm6 e del piaggero npv80, e la ritmica della 423 (oltre agli altoparlanti integrati), esiste qualche arranger economico yamaha che unisca le due cose? bastava pochissimo per rendere questa tastiera proprio quello che voglio :-)

    Mike

  • @BigD3291, I was thinking pretty much the same thing. Bert could sell a rat a Yamaha keyboard.

  • Can you quantize any and all the notes played into the sequencer section?

  • @Mellomel

MM6 is a very entry level. There’s an eight-track sequencer onboard as well, with a ninth track dedicated to rhythm patterns. It’s clearly intended as a musical sketchpad, as its functions are very basic: There’s no quantizing, cut-and-paste editing, or loop mode, just straight-up linear recording. I suspect this is precisely why Yamaha tosses in a Mac- and PC-compatible copy of Steinberg Cubase LE on an included CD-ROM should you want to do more advanced songwriting and arranging.

  • @Mellomel

    Apparently not.

Of course you can record the MIDI to your DAW (if you have) while playing, quantize there, send it back to the MM6 & record the output. Pretty much same thing, except the quantizing happens in the computer instead.

  • @mikefox1974

Ma è un synth o una tastiera? Inoltre ha gli speakers già dentro??? grazie

    Paolo

  • @ryuzaky96

    Ciao Paolo !

  • @ryuzaky96

    Hai ragione, Paolo !!!

  • Does anyone know how to get the hammer on or watever at 0.58 usiing the guitar voice??? please help

  • 1:32 right on!

  • Puxa eu comprei o yamaha mm6 por causa deste piano e confesso que até hoje eu nao consegui achar este piano!! RSRSRSRS!!!

  • i love how he mentioned the girlfriend \m/

  • is there any way by which we can import external drum tracks into this keyboard..... thanks a lot...

    a reply would be appreciated

  • hello MY YAMAHA MM6 IS HAVING PROBLEM REGARDING SCREEN DISPLAY...THE SCREEN OF MM6 IS NOT AT ALL DISPLAYING THE INSTRUMENTS...ITS NOT SHOWING ANYTHING ON THE SCREEN....PLZ PLZ HELP ME OUT IN SOLVING MY PROBLEM NO STORE ROOM THERE NEAR BY MY AREA..NOT IN MY CITY M FRM INDIA...PLA YAMAHA DO SOMETHING....

  • @harrysimply contact their website, you're gonna have to send it to their repair station. stop freaking out.

  • Bert is the best

  • To be honest I'm a gearhead and I was never interested in a Motiv or similar but this makes to buy one..

  • Hi,

Does anyone knows if the MO6 has an auto-accompaign feature on the left hand side like the MM6?

    thx.

  • @uservinc No..., the MO6 isn't an arranger keyboard like the MM6. The MO6 is more closely related to the Motif than the MM6. It's a synth/workstation where as the MM6 is an arranger keyboard with some motif flavored sounds. The MM6 is essentially a PSR keyboard (it's made in Yamaha's arranger keyboard factory).

  • Yeah!

  • do you need an amp to play this piano? or does it have built in speakers?

As i am looking at purchasing this but unsure what i would need to purchase extra

    Thank you

    Andrew

  • @andrewb4arreiro You'll need an amplifier, as you do with pretty much all the Keyboards of this level an higher

  • @andrewb4arreiro

Sorry Andrew for the delay of my reply, but i was hospitalized for over a month :(

yes, for listen "live" you need of an external amply. This keyboard is a real synthesizer, dont have the amplifier or the speakers built-in, as many synths !!

    Mike from Italy

  • Funny that some jackass Shelluser think that you always have to choose a laptop and midi keyboard over just using a hardware keyboard otherwise it is a mistake. No - it is no mistake that if I want a damn laptop, I pick a laptop. But I want a simple hardware keyboard so that when I play . I play .. no boot laptop up .. no worry about laptop crashing during a gig .. no virus .. no whatever.

If you don't like this shit . why lurking around the video selling hardware keyboard for???? scram ...

  • this dude can sell a quarter pounder to a vegetarian

  • I bought it, too. And Bert Smorenburg was a great help, making my decision. It's a great systhesizer. You will never get one better sythesizer in this price category.

Ich hab's mir auch gekauft. Bert Smorenburg hat mir bei der Entscheidung echt geholfen. Es ist ein tolles Gerät. In der Preisklasse findet man sicherlich kein besseres.

  • @SnookerplayerX

    Yes, you're right !!

Congratulations for your new very good synthesizer !!

    Mike

  • i got mine too last week. thx to bert for this review!

  • @zoomckng Good news, i'm happy for your new very great keygoard !!

    Thanks for your comment !!

  • best keyboard seller ever!

  • is this good for someone just starting

  • i bought it yesterday

  • @pichitchon Congratulations !!! You made a very good buy !! This keyboard is very nice !!

  • Thanks Bert for the demo. I just bought one today! I played it at guitar center, AMAZING!

  • @CoOlTy3000

Congratulations for your new purchase !! Is a very good keyboard that will give you lots of pleasure !!

    Thanks for your comment !!

    Mike

  • Great vid - I have a Yamaha Motif XS but love watching this vid !!

  • Thanks for your great comment !!

  • I bought this synth and found it to have pretty good sounds. I have a CS80 and use that for my BladeRunner brass sound. I was able under the custom patch to adjust the ADSR to almost the same fat analog BladeRunner sound. I will try some more to tweak it a little more. Do you have any tips on how to get the MM6 to play a string patch as background and alow my custom BladeRunner sound to be played?

  • damn, you own an actual CS-80? why in the hell would you want to buy this?!

  • Entry level? A synth doesn't mean it needs to have keys to play it. The first mistake newbies make, and IMO nicely exploited here.

For this kind of cash get yourself a nice software DAW (Cubase, Ableton Live, etc.) with a midi keyboard and explore REAL freedom instead of the music banks you get here.

Just my 2 cents mind you.

  • This is your opinion and I respect it.

But you believe that all people who want to make music is familiar with PC, software and virtual sequencers?

And if you play in public, what are you doing? Bring with you the only PC and the amplifier with the speakers?

And if someone asks you play a favorite song to him, what then? You must say wait because you have planned?

Your opinion, I think, is valid only if you produce music in the studio, not for parties or weddings or something of the sort!

  • You realize that the MM6 doesn't have speakers either? Its not that hard to bring a laptop along, thats how most people do this. As for playing stuff: get a regular keyboard which has both speakers and midi interface. Best of both worlds; you can the keyboard and do more magic by enhancing midi data through the DAW (read: layering 127 instruments over 2 all while using the keyboards regular output). No difference from hooking up the laptop audio vs the mm6's output. The movie is marketing talk.

  • @ShelLuser How is it a mistake for "newbies"..what a derogatory term, to go for something like the MM6 rather than software and controller keyboard? Your assuming most people know their way past browsing and using email. With the MM6 you just plug it in and go! It's not perfect, it has crippled midi and is basically a PSR with some Motif Clasic "based" sounds but if your new to all this it's still an ideal starting point. Software and controllers comes later.

  • @yamahaforums You didn't read my comment right. I never said the MM6 was a mistake for newbies. I said that a synthesizer doesn't need to have keys, which is the first mistake newbies make. Many people new to synthesis picture a synthesizer as a keyboard with dials and knobs; that's a synth to them. And that picture is majorly flawed, yet very well exploited by many companies.

  • @ShelLuser Why do you assume people new to synths are unaware of the vast range of synthesis equipment out there? Why is it the "first mistake" so called "newbies" make? How do you know they are making any mistakes at all? They may well just not want to go down the route of DAW's, soft synths and controllers. Nothing wrong with that. Buying and using a rompler is as valid a way of making music as any other and the MM6 fits that bill just perfectly.

  • @yamahaforums I don't assume, I base my opinion on already well proven facts. Alas, this is a pointless discussion IMO. I do not deny that you can achieve quite some radical stuff with this workstation, quite the contrary, I only say that if its extensiveness you want there is much more out there. Peace!

  • @ShelLuser Yeah I think we're at cross purposes here. Your rightly telling people of the alternatives and I'm simply saying that the MM6 is fine for the market it's aimed at. The MM6 is not really a synth in the true sense of the word. It's more a rompler and will suit most people, especially those new to keyboards, just fine. As you say there is definitely a lot more out there but the MM6 is a good place to start if your not clued up on the whole synth thing? :)

  • I don't assume, I'm only stating facts. Alas; I think this is a pointless discussion for both of us. I don't claim that the MM6 isn't worth it or anything, I'm merely saying that if you really want to go extensive on synthesis there is much more out there within this price range. Peace!

  • Sorry, but i tried to send you info, via mail, but you not actived the reception of mails... my mail can't go to you !!

You are enable to receive mails from users, if you not make "friend" the user that you Want !!

YouTube dont send my mail to you !

  • I've never heard of. I know that there is a PSR-OR700 addressed on its own oriental sounds and rhythmst.

You can watch it on YouTube if you search this keyboard that I told you.

    For the MM6 I'm sending you a p.m.

    Ciao

    Mike

  • Good choise, Manuel !!

The MM6 is a entry level of synthesizer, but have high quality sounds and very nice features !!

I hope to you more and more days of pleasure and good time !! Enjoy !!

    Nice day from Italy.

    Mike

  • You can play all genre of style, if you have creativity !!

This is a synthesizer, not have styles or arrangements, only patterns!

  • I ordered the MM6 a couple of days ago, can't till it gets here.

  • Good news Greg !! I understand that certainly looking forward to it!

I wish you a very happy time and full of great music with your new MM6 !!

    Nice day from Italy !

    Mike

  • hello mike, where do I find new paterns and new sounds for the MM6? which syte? thanks.

  • Ciao Fabio !!

You can find some informations if you go to Yamaha's website, you search the voices Clients Assistance or Service or Upgrade, for MM Series.

Have a nice day from Italy.

    Mike

  • @mikefox1974 :thanks mike, here is the Brazil

  • Hi Mike! I have a question. Can I store voices to MM6 via my pc (for insance, Vst instruments from absynth)? And something more, if I got it right you said it has touch response (velocity sensitive) but not aftertouch. Isn't that a problem??

Sorry bothering you. Thanks for your time.

    Manos, GR

  • @Manos2106

Yes Manos, you can store voices on your pc, via USB, as storage of data from MM6.

Not is a problem the lack of the "after touch" in this keyboard (do not forget that it is an entry-level synthesizer, low cost:))

The touch response is the sound stronger or weaker according to the pressure on the key.

Afther touch allows for other sounds and effects by pressing the key after strong pression.

It 'a costly feature, on MM6 is not necessary since it is a low cost keyboard.

    Mike

  • Thanks Mike......! You 've been very helpfull! I'm thinking of buying MM6, that's why I'm asking. Have a nice day!

    Manos

  • @Manos2106

    Ciao Manos, very thanks!

But attention: this MM6 is a synthesizer, not have styles or arrangements, only patterns!

And remember: the MM6 not have an amplifier built-in and is without speakers!!

You can listen your music only with hearphones, or an external amplifier!

Congratulations for your choise, i hope to you a long time of good music ! Enjoy!

    Best greetings from Italy !

    Mike

  • how cud i buy dis machine... from philippines... tnx

    yamaha plz answer me

  • @troydaby

You must write to Yamaha Corporation, not to me !!

    What is "cud" ???

  • on ebay -dot- com :)

    about 300$ used 500$ new

  • impressive, which is the name of song at 3:56 to 4:04? sounds cool :D

  • hi guys i am intrested in this machine

is there a loop funtion and can i record for example atg first piano then loop it

then hear it and edit drums - next step hear it and edit chorus and so on

  • @thanatas

No you cannot loop it in MM6. The software come with the board can do it. Copy it on a USB flash drive and play it back on your mm6 as songs.

    Best of luck from Italy.

    Mike

  • Hey, does the Yamaha MM6 have an after touch function?

  • Yes, Issa, of course !!

Yamaha call this function "touch response".

If you want, you can make off this function.

  • Thanks, Mike for the fast answer!!! Can you say some more stuff about it? How feels the keys, is it to easy to push? Do they feel like a plastic keyboard. Or do you feel some resistance when you're pushing on the keys?

  • @Issa006

if you fear that the sensation is that of a toy keyboard. ... quiet not is!! :))

Key on the MM6 respond very well to touch and have the same strength of the best keyboards on the market!!

  • no aftertouch, only velocity sensitive.

  • Yes, you're right ! My mistake ! Confused "after touch" with "touch response", sorry !

But i'm pressed from much questions all days :)))

    Thanks.

    Mike

  • correction, the whole video....

    Mike

  • Hey Mike, can I use the mm6 with pro tools... and if so how?

  • Ciao Ridlah!!

Well, you can, yes, but you know that Pro Tools need a specific hardware to work well (as M-Audio, Mbox, and others)? Why you want spend much over the cost of MM6?

I think for you (if you want the MM6) is better use the CUBASE that Yamaha you offer in bundle, FREE, with this keyboard, surely compatible with MM6, tested !!!

You can make many many computer music with this solution, without spend other money !!

    I send you a p.m.

    Nice day from Italy.

    Mike

  • hey, i'm a classical piano player... with an interest in modern music... i need to buy a keyboard which i can use to practice the piano preferably with the weighted keys, which i can use also use to play modern music... kind of like an all rounder keyboard... with an affordable price tag... :)

will be grateful if you can suggest a suitable model... thanks a lot.

  • Ciao 5haha!!!

Hello no problem, sure, I'll help you in choosing your keyboard. but you must let me know for you it is important to have a synthesizer or an arranger / workstation, if you want to have 61 keys or 88 keys ... and let me know what is the cost that at most you can accept!!!

I wait your answer... nice day from Italy.

    MIke

  • the thing is i dont know the difference between synthesisers, arrangers & workstations... the best answer i can give you is that i need one on which i can practice piano(with all the dynamics like loud and soft) and also to play in a band...

plus i would like to try my hand in composing music too...

well about the price... anything cheaper than and around the price of the psr s900

    thanks...

  • Well 5haha, eheheh... I thought for you right at the keyboard that you men:))

I send you a P.M. for others info to you!!

    Mike

  • my only worry with buying a 61 key keyboard versus and 88 key one is that I like going all over the place using different octaves all the time. I have looked all over the web and want to know if this comes in an 88 key format (I assumed they were the synths behind you), if there is then this than I am definatly buying it (when I get the money), please do tell if they come in 88 key format.

  • Yes, Dracula, sure, its a version with 88 keys!! Is called MM8... you can read all features on original website of Yamaha Musical Instruments!!

The MM8 is similar to Motif!!

    Nice day from Italy.

    Mike

  • wich one is better?

the mm6 or the korg m50?

  • Ciao Akira!!

You can not compare two models of keyboards that have very different prices!!! The Korg M50 costs more than twice the MM6 ... In Italy, M50 about 1250,00€ and MM6 about 500,00€... !! :)

Comparisons are at the same price, at least ...!! :))

I send you a p.m. with some characteristics of both.

    Nice day from Italy.

    MIke

  • do u know if this works with reason?

  • What???

    I not understand your question!

  • lol my bad. meant reason 4 the software

  • You want to know if MM6 work with software??? Yes, is built in!

Sorry Savvides, but your question not is clear fo me! You can repeat all question with care? I not learned enlish language!

  • He means Reason software, its recording software like Cubase.

you can see what i mean if you type "Reason recording" into Google

  • Thank you very much, Jake, for your very clear explanation about the question and the problem!!! Now i understand well!! lol You are very kind!!

    Nice day from Italy

    Mike

  • Comment removed

  • Hello Savvides!!

You want to know if MM6 work with the Season Software?? lol Season... not reason...!! :)))

Well, The MM6 is all about making music. And since much of today's music is being made on computers, the MM6 is built to fit right into any computer music system. The MM6 is made to connect expressly to your computer and work with all software that you have in your PC.

And just to make sure you get a head start, we've included a free copy of Cubase AI4.

    Ciao from Italy.

  • you need plug-ins

  • thanks alot my man, someone actually answered my question lol. do u know which ones?

  • yes it works really good with it

  • Hallo Mike, great video! :) I am thinking to buy mm6, but can u tell me, does mm6 suports sounds from older yamaha keyboards (like dx11, v50)?

  • Thanks, Kigami!!

Well, the MM6 have built in much sounds of MOTIF series, and you can play others data from a USB device, via USB port.

You can also modify all data of voices with 4 knobs, store your new sounds in a USB device (ex: pendrive) and you can replay when you want!!

    I send you a p.m.

    Greetings from Italy.

    Mike

  • This guy is really into the groove.

  • Sounds a little bit like Arash - Chori Chori, but it's not arabic

  • Hello Folks, does anybody know the name of the arabic tune Bert plays in this demo????? Pretty nice...

  • Ciao Harrysimply!!

Excuse me, but I do not have keyboards that you say, I do not know the software of MOTIF or MM6!! I can not tell you how it works, I am sorry. I can advise you on YouTube to look for others who use and have your keyboard that you say. You can write to them, you will certainly a solution.

I hope you must have an help for your problem!!

    Ciao ciao.

    Mike

  • biggest diff is that mm8 has semi weighted keyboard

  • 32 notes polyphony only? Pass...

  • im barely getting into playing the Keys and this looks like a solid purchase !

  • Whats the main difference between this and the mm8? Is the mm8 really worth the price gap?

  • Ciao Shortbutta!! Well, no difference between MM6 and MM8!! Same sounds, same software, same performance!! Only 3 differences: 61 keys in MM6 (88 keys in MM8), 5.0 Kg weight MM6 (15.6 Kg in MM8), price in Italy about 500€ for MM6, 850€ for MM8.

You can read more info in a p.m. that i send you!!

    Mike.

  • no apart from a few extra arpeggiators and a bigger memory. They're pretty much the same.

  • Bert Smorenburg bobblehead anyone?

  • Ez nekünk kelllllll!!!!!!! :)

  • "Just to impress your girlfriend and all that stuff, because that's also important when you're uh ... a musician!"

Now I'm DEFINITELY gonna get me one of these!

  • Eheh... great Endy!! :))

  • Dutch Pride!

    Smorenburg is my hero

  • Eheh... very nice, Matt!!! :))

The better of keyboards depending your budget... :))

I send now to you a private message.

    Ciao from Italy

    Mike

  • Korg TR61 is miles ahead of the Yamaha MM6. The Korg TR61 is a much more powerful keyboard. The MM6 is a toy compared to it.

  • Yes Squeak, you are right!! Is same answer and same my comment that i posted in private message to Ziberaj!

Thanks so much for your interesting!

    Mike
