Strange that the syringe is empty from the start, don't you think? What I'm thinking is that the block has already been done and he's doing it for demonstration purposes. Hmm. --.--
I'm inquirring to these different injections for pain relief as well. It's seems that I've had them stick me EVERY where but here - I too am concerned if this is safe to try My spine has alot of permanent root damage affecting sensation to privates, my legs/feet as well as functionality. I rarely ambulate because of pain issues deep in buttock &w/ the sciatica, piriformus, sacral/coccyx pain, radclpthy, arachnoiditis. I had Multiple [5] surgeries to my spine for reconstruction.
they should be using a CT or fluoroscopic guide for this procedure. it's supposed to be extremely painful and if the MD makes the slightest error there are grave repercussions. the procedure is supposed to be very painful also...but this woman was obviously under local anesthesia, something they would never do in the US. probably due to expense. i need to have one and that video makes me damn nervous.
@sculptressk ROFL CT? You do realize this procedure is usually done when a woman is giving birth... which means radiology is out of the question. It's not too easy to mess up on this procedure, don't worry about it.
@searusm Pudenal blocks are being done for some pain syndromes as well. I have sacral/coccyx pain, agitation of piriformis and obturator as well as radiculopathy (8+ years, beginning with pregnancy). In the end we ditched the pudenal block and opted for hypogastric plexus block...mostly as a diagnostic measure in proceeding toward a spinal cord stimulator trial. The HypoGP block was not effective in relieving pain.
@sculptressk Alright, I'm sure 1% of pudendal blocks are done for something other than giving birth, but it's fair to assume that this is being done for a vaginal birth.. Where a CT would be out of the question.
that is a veryyyyy long needle... fuck... god bless the doctors and nurses that have to insert the needles... bless them with less human errors and steady hands... zzz~
