We do barely have robots that can move with that level of precision. It's what I originally imagined too but did you watch 1:25 onwards? No way. The cost of something like that would be ludicrous, and you'd never get funding for it just to make something do magic tricks.

you have to remember that a LOT of tv magicians do rely heavily on camera tricks - fast cuts to the judges, not showing how the black guy got on stage (did he walk? did it look real?) etc. this trick becomes more and more obvious the closer you get to seeing it in real life - it's really not that astounding.

You also have to remember the fact that this was filmed during a live performance in front of a studio audience. For any other magicians this trick would be cake if it was filmed, but this guy was performing to a live crowd as well.

@Elbenzo64 the crowds on these shows are in on the joke. i know a few people who have been on this show before (as audience participants.) they are given specific instructions with certain performers and most of the reactions you see from the audience are all staged.

Definitely there are some robotics involved.

Although the stapled together man seems a little to articulate. There may be some camera trickery involved as well. Switching the robot with a person in one of the cuts.
