He lived in a tropical paradise after war, a life anyone would want, and died at age nearly 70. His drowning was most likely as a result of a heart attack - the quick and painless death. What he last saw was, most likely, sunny beach, palm trees, clear blue sky...

I have to say that after what Wehrmacht did in Russia, Ukraine and Belarussia, they didn`t deserve better attitude from Soviet people. I don`t completely agree with that but I do understand why Russians treated German captives this horroble way. There is a german documentary about that as well. The movie called "Soldaten hinter Stacheldrahd" (Soldiers beyond barbed wire).

No. I wasn`t talking about captives. I was talking about the ones who turned against Hitler and fought against Wehrmacht together with USSR. You can find some new german documentary about that if you don`t believe russian one. Also I was born in Kazakhstan and there were a lot of Germans. Most of them came to Russia in 18-th century but some of them were descendants of these officers. So, pratialy, I obtained that info from the original sources
