    Tutorial is very easy to understand, however I have run into a problem.

    My top corner are not oriented correctly and as such I can't continue the solve. Is there a way to get the top corners oriented? I have watched the tutorial several times but see no way to get it fixed.

  • I have all the top layer solved (white), all the red side solved, and all of the middle solved. But on the bottom layer, the Blue/Orange corner and the Yellow/Orange layer need switched. Also the Blue/Green edge piece and the Yellow/Green edge piece need switched. Can you help?

  • I have all of the corners correct on the top and bottom but on the top,the front and the right edge need to be switched,and the left and the back edges need to be switched.

    On the bottom:The same thing but the FRONT edge needs to go to the BACK and the RIGHT edge needs to go to the FRONT.

    The LEFT edge needs to go to the RIGHT,and the BACK edge needs to go to the LEFT.

    How am I supposed to solve that?

  • @Rufus1709 Thanks for the clear description of your case! Lets call front F, right R, back B and left L from here on. The alg in this video that swaps edges (not parity, the other one) swaps R and B on the top and R and B on the bottom. All you have to do is swap two edges at a time on top, and two more on the bottom. For your case you should only need to do this twice. I do a sort of past example of how to do an F R, B L swap in the video. Solving edges is a multistage process.

  • @Dart5567 My understanding of "orientation" is probably a little different from yours. Corners cant be twisted in place like on a 3x3x3, but they can be in the wrong layer (maybe this is what you mean). The answer to your question is yes, there is an algorithm to fix your case but you'd probably have to generate it yourself :P

  • @Dart5567 It's a lot more efficient to solve the corners before the edges. I personally don't know an algorithm that does a perfect 3-corner cycle. Have you watched this video?

  • @notPUZZLEDup Use the parity alg that he gives you. If you have parity on top, use the parity alg, then you should have a regular edge cycle. If it's on the bottom do /(6,6)/ then do the parity alg, then do /(6,6)/ again and you should have an edge cycle on the bottom that you can solve. Also for the edge cycle be sure to switch the two edges correctly so you don't get the parity case where the two edges are across from each other, should I make a video response to this?

  • I do like this solution but it isn't the greatest, because there are a few things it doesn't address like what do to if the top layer edges aren't solved or if i have parity on the bottom, along with other;. But thanks anyways.

  • Can you make a tutorial on how to solve the Super Square 1. I know it is supposed to be the same sort of way to solve as a square 1, but I was stupid and ordered a super square 1 first and haven't solved a regular square 1 before. Could you make a tut on the super square 1 algorithoms.

  • @LynchStudios8 Yeah, bad move. This might be hard to visualize, but challenge yourself. A Super Square-1 is just two Square-1's. First you solve the middle two layers, that's your first Square-1. Those two middle layers can then be treated as one layer, and you just have a normal Square-1, which is the second Square-1to solve. I imagine you can solve a Rubik's Cube, and probably a few other puzzles, so it shouldn't be too bad, challenging yourself is good.

  • Great tutorial! I've faced one problem. How to permute the top layer corner? The algo in step 4 is permuting the bottom 2 corners...what about top? Thanks =)

  • Use (1,0)/(6,6)/

    That should move the top layer to the bottom. The only problem is that you may have to repeat that algo right at the end when the two complete centre faces (The removable ones) are switched.

    I don't baby people, but of course the moment one gives another the benefit of the doubt, one is subject to complaints from those too lazy to either use simple problem solving, or do a little extra research (not that this is even remotely necessary).

  • Do the parity alg and then use the step 5 alg to solve the edges intuitively. EVERY parity case can be solved with ANY parity alg (plus some other non-parity alg(s)).

  • a good tutorial. i'm italian and i don't speak english very well but it's all clear except for edge's cycles...

  • What I don't get is for step 4, how do you rearrange the top layers corners? sometimes when i try to flip the cube upside down to do the top layer corner, the middle layer doesnt have the small piece on the left, it has the longer one.

  • You should arrange the top layer corners in step 2 when you are moving the corners to their correct layers. Turn on annotations and watch part 2 again.

  • Make two groups of 4 edges, put one on top and one on the bottom, then do a 90 degree twist of the equator. Play around with it, you'll get it :)

  • There is no such thing as "corner orientation" on a Square-1. Sometimes the separation step is referred to as orientation, but I think you might be referring to permutation? If you do mean "permuted" and not "oriented", watch step 2 again with annotations turned on. I give a few tips. If I've completely misunderstood you, message me with a more detailed description of your problem or something.

  • its not supposed to be able to turn along all the axes. you have to turn the middle layer to change the way the right/front face turns.

  • my case for the edges are the same as the 3 cycle. i don't understand how to use the algortihms because my middle layer is sticking out and the side which is supposed to be facing me has the one straight line that can't be moved. please help anyone..thanks!

  • The middle layer doesn't have to be square for you to go on with the solve. For a 3-cycle, use the edges alg twice (once to turn it into a double adjacent swap and again to solve that case). Use intuition.

  • This is without a doubt the fastest beginners method. Practice and learning new cases will yield faster times.

  • Use the parity to set up another case that can be solved with the other edge permutation algorithm from step 5. It will probably not be the exact case in step 5, but if you use that alg a few times it will work.

  • I just got a new video response to this tutorial of someone doing a sub-60 solve with this method. I got down to about a 45 average using this method plus only two more algs that I just figured out on my own :P

  • No way! These are some of the better ones. There is a reduced parity, but it does a 4-cycle instead of an opposite swap. I figured that might confuse beginners.
